Restaurantji's guide to New London's top Mexican dining experiences.
“Great things come in small packages...This restaurant has.amazing food. The service there is quick ...The smells coming from the kitchen make you want everything they are making. Great place to explore cultural food ... and of course amazing ? burritos and barrio “
“Excellent food! Guacamole is definitely recommended! Authentic street tacos never disappoint. Staff is friendly. The place is small, but clean. The only reason for four stars- they were out of limes. That meant no margarita to go with my food, but they did have a nice beer selection, so it was still a lovely time. Must visit if you are looking for real Mexican food!“
“There was a gentleman a big gentleman black with braids or dreads not sure I just know that he was very attentive and he was moving very fast and he was very particular I'm mindful the other employees seemed to be frazzled and he handled himself very professionally and took care of both the window and the counter and I just want to say I appreciate him I was very short for time thank you“
“This location has an amazing pallet of flavors on their menu when it comes to authentic Spanish food. Recently I was there for Valentine’s Day and we got chips and the quesadillas. I got the Mexican paella and it was absolutely delectable. My boyfriend got the steak made medium, which was perfectly tender. We end up getting the Tres Leche every time because it tastes like home to me. We also love the hospitality that the staff provide towards the tables. I seriously recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for a good date night or a night out and trying some really good corn tacos. I promise you won’t be disappointed and you will enjoy yourself. Also, a sidenote/shout out:We keep coming back to this location for the past couple years now, just to continuously bump into one waiter named Luis (I believe that’s his name! I’m terrible with names, but I remember his face lol). This man has a couple of daughters that he continuously loves and talks about, he loves his job and does a stellar job at making conversation to connect with his patrons. After not going to this restaurant for 8 months straight, we went on 2/14/24 and he walked right up and immediately recognized the both of us. He pointed as to where we sat last time and spoke about playing video games and other topics we had talked about months prior. Truly impressive. I really hope the owner and the person who is viewing us will recognize that this person has changed our perspective of how we view this restaurant. We plan to come here more often. Much love to the entire staff, we plan to see you soon ?“
“What a great place. It was our 1st time buying lunch from here. We bought for the whole 8 person staff at our office. The Mexican flavors were authentic and far better than the 2 corporate franchises in town. All 8 orders were spot on as requested unlike those 2 corporate franchises which we ALWAYS had mistakes in the orders. Well done. We will be back again.“
“One of the very best Mexican restaurants I have been to!! Mohegan Sun Casino has amazing restaurants with great food and Sol Toro is at the very top of my list!!!! The table side guacamole is so delicious and the margaritas are amazing. The service was very professional and my server Mariah was the best! I recommend this place and can't wait to go back soon.“
“Decided on a last minute trip to Mystic for Xmas Eve. Grabbed a reservation at Rio Salado and SO GLAD WE DID! Our food was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious. Our server, Kevin, was attentive with a positive, upbeat attitude. Can't wait to go back! Rio Saldado is definitely one of our go-to places from now on. Perfect way to celebrate family and good eats!!“
“The best tacos on the Northeastern Seaboard!Had take out once and accidentally got charged for a dine in order as well. Called to ask about the double charge that I saw on my statement and the manager was very quick to respond and handle the issue!Have been a recurring customer for a while now. Taquerio is a destination that anyone visiting the Mystic area should definitely check out!“
“Went somewhere new for date night and Manana Cafe did not disappoint! Started with the homemade tortilla chips and guacamole, which was better than we’ve ever tried elsewhere..fresh fried chips were amazing! I had the mole poblano con pollo and hubby had cochinita pibil (shredded pork with citrus and tortillas). Both were delicious, authentic and fresh. We also tried a spicy margarita and the cinnamon honey margarita and enjoyed both. Service was friendly and sweet and we were checked on often but not invasively. Was a little pricey but was to be expected for the quality and authenticity. It was a win for us, 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
