2024's pizza place of my youth, revisited - tables with benches, old photos on the walls, the guy behind the counter who knows you by sight, and a really good slice of pie. (We didn't have a Vic's next door when I was a kid; that's a bonus.)My husband's a huge fan of their meat lovers. As a vegetarian I prefer a mashed potatoes and pesto, no bacon. Mangia has such good pizza and a great price and no long wait like at the "big three" New Haven Apizza places. Steve has been making pizzas his whole life I think (at least 40 years) and he nails it time and again. The sauce is just delicious and the crust is a perfect blend of crispy and a bit chewy. Sorry the photo isn't perfect (or maybe it is ?) but we just couldn't wait to dig in and ate the first piece off the hood of the car. ?. I only wish I lived closer.

My son and I were looking for a good pizza between New Haven and Wallingford. Too early in the afternoon for Sally's or Pepe's. Mangia came up in Google Maps. Easy to miss this place. Un assuming store front next to a cafe. Parking was sparse (maybe college football games on at the cafe?) Dony judge the book by its cover!Eat in customers order at the counter and then grab a booth.
