I was in the mood for Middle Eastern food and we decided to try somewhere new. I would have never have seen it from the road. So glad we stopped. I cannot begin to describe how great the food was here. Got lamb shawarma sandwich, baba ghanouj, hummus, and falafels. We asked the friendly guy with the glasses about a pictured item in the menu. Wow! Out shopping in the area and saw mostly okay-ish reviews here. Decided to give it a try. It was fantastically good. There are plenty of places around to get a decent hummus or Falafel (hello Rawa and Mamouns). But this place wins. It's in a pretty run-down strip mall - inside is quite nice. Friendly people. The hummus was excellent, the falafel too. What floored me was their baba ganoush. I've always been ok with baba ganoush, but this changes things. Creamy and flavorful...read full review

Bab al salam is a little treasure. We lived in New haven for 5 years and this restaurant was our greatest treat. Better than all the fancy city stuff. The food is great tastes like it would in Syria and Lebanon you could tell that they put all the work into it they do not cut corners. We now live in Zurich Switzerland and we're still missing this place and searching for something even half as good.
