The resteraunt seems to be relying upon its past glory days to carry it through, but unfortunately, on our recent visit of 7, we were wholly disappointed. Several steaks were overcooked, and we received an argument from the waiter when we tried to send one back. Service was completely lacking, and a water glass had a large dangerous chip in it. Not a memorable experience at all.

Expensive, slow and inattentive service, Food came out cold (when it finally came out). Filet was low quality. Better quality meat at less expensive steak house chains.

Absolute worst dining experience in years. Surly waiter and food was sent back twice, inedible the second time and NO compensation for throwing out the steak. Will NOT eat there ever again.Kid-friendliness: Awful, waiter would not allow the 15 month old to order off the kids menu (thanks Arthur, you may have been the worst waiter I have EVER had).

It was hard to get through the door because so many were walking out, making it very congested. We were greeted warmly and escorted to a booth that was clean but a tight fit. Our waitress was nice and thorough though not particularly warm. We ordered a petite filet mignon and a 10 Oz. Prime Rib, baked potato and salad. We were disappointed with the salad. It came in chilled bowls and was crisp, but it was iceberg lettuce. No nutritional value and not what one expects from an upscale establishment. There were only three basic salad dressings to choose from, again not what one would expect. There wasn't even a raspberry vinaigrette or anything similar. The rolls that were served were not hot. They were a hard roll that was served from a package, not even baked fresh. The baked potato was obviously baked hours earlier. We were late diners, just having arrived at the airport, so it was 8:00 p.m. the filet was cooked a bit past the medium rare I ordered, wasn't bacon wrapped and lacked the flavor a filet should have. It was hard to cut, even with a steak knife and definitely was not quality aged beef. The prime rib was thin, was loose in texture and left a residue in the diner's mouth, suggesting it had been treated with something. There was no real flavor, a lot of gristle and was difficult to chew. We should have sent both back but due to the lateness of the hour and being ravenously hungry, we just ate each disappointing bite. When asked afterwards if we enjoyed our meal, we were honest and told the staff what we thought. We were given a piece of key lime pie and a slice of cheesecake to take with us. Sadly, even the dessert was subpar. The pie was very heavy with a wet and loose Graham cracker crust. The cheesecake was basic, certainly not worth the $10 they price it at. The bill was $78, just for the dinners as we drank water. My partner used to go there frequently and was familiar with the establishment. He was told they changed distributors of their meat. Clearly they are not buying anything high than choice cuts, definitely not worth the price charged. It's sad that a restaurant that used to be so good has cut its quality so much.

There is something heart warming and comfortable about dining at Tropical Acres. Yet, dining here has a classy, upscale feel with traditional white table clothes and professional service. Even on a busy day like Easter, the service was impeccable. (The servers even found time to cater to the baby we had in tow!) The prime rib was simply the best I've ever had and the other traditionally themed dishes were delicious: lamb, beef wellington, escargot. I would recommend this restaurant, particularly for those who appreciate true DINING. Basque in the sounds of the live piano played at volumes that define background and allow for conversation. TA family knows how to run a restaurant!

I was in town to watch the Italy play and was tired of the American fast food so looked up steakhouses and T.A's immediately came up. Loved the old school feel and the vibe in the lounge. Nick and Tony were top notch behind the bar and at $33 a tender filet mignon was a great price and the best meal of my trip. Definitely worth checking out and there's a reason why they've been around forever. Thanks guys!
