I've ordered takeout from them lots of times and it's always been delicious! The beef stew is great, the smothered pork chops are very tasty. Black eyed peas need to be cooked more and no vinegar.Parking: Easy parking.

I ordered smoothered pork chop dinner. The food had no seasoning. I tossed the entire plate in the trash after tasting. And was extremely disappointed that someone would call a restaurant "Soul Food" and it lack key ingredients. If you're not big on salt you can use onions, bell peppers and other ingredients along with some non salt seasoning. I will not be going here again. I was fooled by the 4 stars.

Had the smothered turkey wings, it was cooked perfectly. Really loved the food and the sister at the counter was beautiful and cool. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up eating there every time I'm in Gainesville.

The seating inside seemed kind of weird but I got mine to go and it was pretty awesome. I got the pork chop sandwich. I recommend you to try it if you haven't. I will be visiting them again to try something different.

I LOVE their food! And they give so much food for cheap! Best collard greens!

I ordered the oxtail w/ yellow rice, cabbage, and Mac & Cheese. Long story short, they won't see me again. Oxtail was salty AF! The yellow rice and cabbage were decent. The Mac & cheese was an absolute abomination. It was tasteless, cold, and the noodles had been overcooked. I forgot, there was a muffin served with it... yeah I'll just leave that one alone.

I had the fried shrimp lunch & my friend had the fried chicken lunch. Delicious, perfectly fried with wonderful fried okra, perfectly cooked rice, greens, etc. NO GREASY FOOD!!!! Absolutely, delicious!!!! Wonderful friendly service, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere newly renovated (very pretty) WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK!!!!

Im Sorry To Give This Rating But I Was Absolutely Disappointed After Trying This Food For The Second Time. There Is Not One Lick Of Seasoning In Any Of The Food. I had to season everything on the plate. The First Time Trying It I Thought They Were Having A Bad Day As Everyone Does But After Coming Back A Second Time When They Were Less Busy The Food Was Worse.

Busy soul food restaurant with excellent selections. Food was fresh and we enjoyed the available items but they do run out of some items.

I ordered the beef stew dinner plate and the fried tilapia dinner... everything was perfect. Collard greens were just right and tender the tilapia was juicy and not dry. The lady was so sweet and professional. I recommend this place if you want some real soul food. ❤❤❤

Saw the name on Google maps and wanted some "soul food" without cooking it myself. So I go. The outside color of the building is nice. The inside sitting area is nice also. I got inside and was given a menu by the cashier. She informs me that they are out of beef stew and turkey. So I ordered fried chicken with white rice, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. I also ordered smothered chicken with white rice and the same sides. Mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. The cashier tells me that I will live it and she will see me soon. So we get home, open the plates and are immediately surprised with how it looked.Red flag #1: The chicken was darker than usual from the grease not being changed. My "smothered chicken" was literally just dipped in the gravy. Red flag #2: There was hardly any gravy on the mash potatoes. So we sat down to eat and I was so disgusted. The "soul food" was not seasoned at all!! The chicken was literally fried and not seasoned. The Mac and cheese or mashed potatoes had absolutely no seasoning. With the name " soul food' I expected to not have to season my food myself. The Mac and cheese was dry and not an appropriate ratio of noodles to cheese. The mashed potatoes were super thick and there was not enough gravy to eat them.I used seasoning of my own to try and doctor the food so that we could eat it. It was the biggest disappointment EVER! WE literally threw the food in the trash after attempting to eat it for 20 minutes. Also their credit card machine was down so I had to go get cash to pay for it. They also did not have enough cash on hand to give me change for $40. The cashier made a comment that "our people don't come here as much as the other race". I understand why they don't now. The food is horrible and we want flavor in anything we eat. I won't ever return. The will say the cashier was nice but the food. Yuck! Try it if you want but I wasted $20 and should've just went to Wendy's like my son wanted.

The customer service was good but the food was not at all satisfying. The shrimp was fried very hard, like they used old grease & the fries were soggy and warmed up. I did not take a picture of the Mac n cheese or yams but they too were not pleasing. The yams tasted like it was poured into a pot out of the can warmed up. The Mac and cheese was hard and not seasoned and not good. I was really hoping to like it but the food was not good.

Food was worth the wait. 10 piece wings with greens was on point. My wife got dark fried chicken dinner. Like the food so much, this is the go to spot for soul food.
