What a great place. The ambiance is so quaint and the service is great. They were hopping when we were there and still quick. We tried the soda flights...yummy. The art work was so fun to look at as well. You need to check them out.

Funky, Cool, One of A Kind, Friendly and the BEST pizza and salad! Their lunch special is an amazing deal...but if you want leftovers (which you will) get a whole pizza. Everything is super fresh and the wait staff is on point! This place is the total package and MUST GO!!

It takes an artist to create this experience. Housemade everything. Comfortable ecclectic atmosphere. Staff that is there because they want to be. Feels like your favorite nutty relatives home. Pizza. Calzones. All with fresh toppings. Highly recommend.

Our family loves coming to Satchel’s - I love the calzones, my hubby always gets the pizza and we all love the salad!! Great beer and wine list too! Cool atmosphere and the nicest servers. It’s a must every time we are in Gainesville!

This place needs 6 stars. Seven really. Food is fantastic, yes. Salads for those who are vegans or diet limits or don't want a food coma. Low gluten crust was fantastic flavor and texture. But satchels is also about atmosphere and character and this place has a solid heart of old Gainesville. Right down to the neon burrito Brothers sign.Cash only for restaurant but lightning salvage takes credit cards.Thank you Satch for keeping the dream alive!

7/21/21Pizzas, community, art, upcycling and a whole lot more!So we’re staying at an Airbnb tonight and the owner shows us around our super cool digs, and then asks if we are going to eat out and what kind of food we like.He recommends the pizza place of his artist friend, called Satchels, letting us in on the fact that his artist friend and several tile artists are creating a fully tiled exterior, and that he’s going to have a plane (yes, an airplane) that you can take your meal in.Literally none of what he said remotely prepared me for the fact that we would be walking into the coolest restaurant in the world.Yes, the building and grounds are a work of art.Yes, his staff earns a living wage (what a breath of fresh air!).Yes, his business funds a bunch of different grants to community organizations.Yes, the food is fun and creative. And yes, there are vegan options. (Our server’s boyfriend does their tempeh - FOUR KINDS!) There’s even homemade sodas, that he put time money and effort to develop (seriously, get the flight and taste something natural for a change), which he pumps instead of the chemical swill put out by the major brands. And the business is truly cool.Eat in the bar, the restaurant, or how about the VW bus?!?! Get lost in all his upcycled artistry and the tile work. Buy a plant. Or some toys. Knock yourself out.But the real treasure here is the staff at Satchels. Live original music was being performed in the bar. Both bartenders were friendly and sweet. Our server, Summer, was a delight, and beyond helpful. Aiden, who tag-teamed with Summer to assist in getting our fresh, hot, food out to us, and making sure we had all we needed to enjoy our meal, were sweet, kind, enthusiastic and delightful in every way you could hope from servers. The hostess was all cheer and helpfulness as well, and when we paid our tab, the gentleman behind the counter was completely pleasant.Wonderful place!

Nothing but fun, pizza and homemade sodas. Super eclectic and completely unexpected... You can eat outside in the garden, or in an old van. There's a kitchy store in the bar, and they sell random plants out back. It's full of character -- From the environment, to the food, and the staff is both interesting and entertaining.

New to town and was told this was the best place to get pizza. I thought the decor was cute, I especially enjoyed the outdoor space. However, i wasn't super impressed with the food. It wasn't bad but certainly wasn't amazing and with a price of $32 for a large pizza i think it needs to be amazing.

Satchel's has a reputation far and wide, so when it was time to take our son to UF, a trip to Satchel's was definitely in order. You canNOT beat the lunch specials.I had a drink with me, so I did not try any of the homemade sodas, but my son liked the root beer.My husband and I both had the salad and pizza lunch combo.OMG, these salads aren't fooling around. SO GOOD. I could definitely eat one of these every day. Tell your server if you're allergic to anything so they leave it out of your salad and you'll be fine. But let me tell you, my son ordered "The Major" calzone. When it came out, I thought no way he could finish it. I was wrong. He destroyed it and said it was delicious. We were Skeeter's people back in the day; we are now Satchel's people.

What a cool fun and unique place. Plus the pizza and salad was delicious. They even make their own soft drinks and some of the best desserts! Makes me wish I lived in Gainesville.

We just had the best salad and pizza of just about anywhere USA. We were traveling from the beach and had enough seafood and was dying for pizza. I’m so glad we found this fun, but unique and delicious place! Definitely get dessert too../the brownies…so good!!

Quirky little pizza location with unique pizza choices. I love their super eclectic decor and seating. But more than that, their pizza is outrageously good! I have had the gluten free crust and been super happy every time. It's a thick, crunchy and tasty like no other! The homemade soda is definitely worth the price, LOL. My favorite is the Ginnie Ginger Ale! Can't wait for my next visit to Gainesville!
