Weird things happen at the host desk. We arrived just before 8 last night. There were plenty of tables available. We were told there would be a 25-30 minute wait. I didn't understand why. We were seated in that time frame. After we were seated, a couple that was clearly there before us were seated at an empty table behind us. I've never worked on the restaurant business, so I don't understand what goes on. I think it would be better to have people seated at a table rather than staring at you wondering why you can't be seated at an empty table. The food, service and drinks were great.

I absolutely love this restaurant!! The food is amazing!! I love the vegetarian options!!Vegetarian options: Pecan crusted tofu/blackened tofu is excellent. Black bean cakes are very good. You can substitute tofu in several dishes.
It's a little redundant to positively review a place that's already been positively reviewed by so many people, but I find this to be a good use of 15 minutes.The Top is a very special place, and I go out of my way to get there anytime I'm forced to go to Florida. In fact, if it were in any state besides Florida I'd make the trip just for this resto. It's that special.Most of the food is excellent (I stick to the vegan options), though some of it is a hit or miss depending on who's in the kitchen. But the food is really just a bonus: it's an "atmosphere" joint. Highly recommend.

Disappointing Experience at The Top:I have been a long-time customer of The Top, but my recent experience has left me extremely dissatisfied. This marks the second time in just three months that I've encountered a frustrating issue with the restaurant, and unfortunately, it seems that customer satisfaction is not a priority.Upon arriving with a party of six, we informed the hostess that our entire group was present. It is the restaurant’s policy to not officially start the wait time until the entire party is present. However, despite this information, our wait was grossly underestimated. I had previously believed in The Top's commitment to underpromise and overdeliver, but this was certainly not the case.To make matters worse, when a table for six finally became available after an hour, only two other people were seated at this table for six. I had to personally intervene at the host stand to rectify the situation, and although they efficiently moved the incorrectly seated diners, the damage was already done.Despite the commendable efforts of our server, Felix, to salvage the evening, I felt compelled to speak to the manager, Callie. Unfortunately, her response was far from satisfactory. She seemed unconcerned about the recurring issue, as this was the second time in three months that a large party of mine faced a similar problem.During our conversation, Callie offered compensation in the form of a round of drinks or appetizers, which would have been appreciated if I hadn't already paid for these at the bar during the excessively long wait. Despite my calm and respectful demeanor, Callie showed a surprising lack of willingness to address the recurring problem or enhance my experience as a loyal customer.In conclusion, this experience has left me feeling like nothing more than a number rather than a valued patron. The Top has failed to live up to its reputation, and I am thoroughly disappointed with the lack of improvement and consideration for loyal customers. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to The Top anytime soon. Special thanks to Felix for his efforts to salvage an otherwise disappointing evening.
So the Too used to be my go to in gainsville, but I got to go food today and it was very salty and they put the salad dressing on a to go salad…making it extremely wilted by the time I got it. Normally it comes on the side. But also they put waaaaay too much dressing to top it off. The tofu pecan crusted entree used to be my fav, but now it’s way too salty and just not the same. I think it’s bc it was togo, bc normally I sit in and dine. But who puts dressing on a to go salad? lol anywho, I tried calling to see if I could get a new salad at least but they were in a wait time so I didn’t get a hold of anyone. This $25 is going in the trash. ????
