I really liked this museum. Small town with big history. Downtown shops and restaurants. The lady's were quite knowledgeable about the area and different periods during the Seminole ward and up to present day. Is a must see when in the area. It was free to see but donations accepted.

Micanopy is a beautiful place to stop off for a break if you are travelling N/S on the West side of Florida. Of course famous for 'Doc Hollywood' but should also be noted for its charm. We met up with some great folk who lived there and exchanged some interesting conversations for a while before heading back to Poinciana.

I research Florida history and live nearby. I've given a presentation to the Micanopy Historical Society and visit the museum on occasion. Micanopy is not just any small Florida town, it was the first inland caucasian community and before that it was an important Timucua and later Seminole location, a "Capitol city" if you will.
