Finally an opportunity to eat at Uncle Shugs and had researched today’s menu which was supposed to have liver and onions—my husband’s favorite. Reminded us of the old RJ’s when we walked in, but then disappointment. Yesterday was liver and onions, although it shows on Thursdays’ menu. We opted for the chicken tenders which were good and plentiful, however the sides didn’t look great and were so so. Probably wouldn’t go back although the staff was very polite.
I've eaten at Uncle Shugs several Fridays in a row lately. Their fried catfish is very good and you get to have 2 side orders with your meat selection ( fish, fried chicken, chicken fingers and one other meat to select from). The price is reasonable and the waiters/waitesses are very attentive. Sunday buffets are delicious and wide variety of salads,vegetables, meats, and desserts.. iced tea, etc. come with the price.

The new Uncle Shug’s on Main Street: They have revamped the old RJ’s and it is really nice inside and out. The staff is very friendly. We got brisket, smoked chicken, pulled BBQ and chicken fingers. The meat was good. Not a big fan of any of their sauces. We also got collard greens. They tasted good until the plethora of hot sauce kicked in. They really weren’t edible. Overall, we liked the place but wouldn’t order the collards and would probably bring our own sauce.
