First and foremost, our waiter was amazing and nothing fell on him, just to get that out of the way. It is usually never the waiter’s fault. I loved this Gens but my last visit was probably the worst and likely my last. Visited March 11th around 7-8pm. The rice we were given was almost like a rice cake consistency and was inedible. Our waiter was very nice and took care of it, giving us better rice. However, the biggest issue was the bill and how they charged the wrong cards the wrong bill. There were two bills, one that covered 2 people (~$63) and one that covered 1 person (~$32). My bill was the 32 and i put my card in front of THAT receipt, and the other in front of the 63. It was obvious which card was paying which bill. Our waiter even told the lady what was which. The lady that rung it up obviously decided to switch the cards around and charge MY card the $63! No wonder she was so nervous giving back the bill to us because she probably realized she messed up. The lady sort of ignored me when I went to ask them what happened and another gentleman stepped up and tried to help me. There was nothing they could really do except for me to tell my friend to “Venmo the difference.” On top of that, they didn’t even give me my receipt back so I couldn’t sign or write the tip amount (I was leaving cash anyways). And what did they do? They added their own tip amount and now my card is charged $75! I never write reviews, not even bad ones. But this is ridiculous. I wish I never went that night. For those interested, just pay in cash so they can’t screw up something so simple.

The food is always good but I think the employees forgot that their jobs insist of customer service. I don’t expect much but at least have some decency. Our first serving of rice literally looked like mashed potatoes. Second one was goodThe grill wasn’t changed at all during the two hour time frame that is given to eat.A runner who bought us our food stated “I’m not a busser”, after we politely asked if he can take the finished plates, meanwhile more food is being placed onto our table. So at this point we are stacking plates and no one grabbing empty plates. We barely had any room to eat. We left a tip because we are decent and have worked in the service industry before. This specific location seemed very short staffed. Nonetheless We had to ask for water because we weren’t given any. This location has always been good to us but this experience made us not want to go back.Parking: There is plenty of parking , you might have to park on the second level because the first floor can get pretty jammed but it’s not a bad walk to walk down the stairs or elevator down. I prefer to park upstairs to not have my vehicle get hitKid-friendliness: They offer high chairs for children

It's very popular and can be crowded in the evenings. The staff is super friendly and helpful and suggested a great soju combination. I highly recommend this location for all you can eat Korean BBQ.

Probably one of the worst customer service i’ve experienced so far. Server rarely came to our table to check on us if we wanted to order more food and didn’t really give us what we asked for like more rice and kimchi.

The food and service aren't the problem. I had a HAIR in my food. They did comp my bill, but Gen food is eaten family style. Everyone at that table ate from the same pan. Everyone should have been compensated. Also I had went to Gen on MLK Birthday, but we didn't stay because they were charging the dinner price at 10AM because it was his birthday. That is an insult Martin Luther King's memory to charge almost double the lunch menu price on a day meant to honor him.

Was my first time here. The food was amazing - probably the best meal at a restaurant I have ever had. Kalbi and bulgogi were my favorites. Delicious food, great service, and great atmosphere. Good value for the money too.
Nothing special here. Just a good old yakiniku place. Wish they had some better cuts of meat.

Our party of 6 (4 adults, 1 kid, 1 baby), came to GEN on a Friday night for an early dinner at 5 PM. Make sure you look at the menu beforehand because as soon as you sit down, they’ll ask what you want to order. Luckily, my sister/BIL have been here before so they took the reins for the first round. Some of the things we ordered were the Hawaiian steak, garlic chicken, brisket, honey soy beef belly, pork cheek, and galbi. My top three were the Hawaiian steak, honey soy beef belly, and pork cheek. I liked the marinades on the steak and the beef belly. It’s nice that they use different flavors and not the same marinade for every meat. The pork cheek was so tender. We ended up getting three orders in total but I probably could have eaten another one on my own. They also bring out bowls of rice as soon as you’re seated, but you definitely don’t want to waste stomach real estate on that. Plus, the rice looked really mushy. I liked that they serve banchan. My favorite was the radish paper because the sourness helped balance out the richness/saltiness of the meats. I must have eaten an entire bowl of these by myself. They also have 9 different dipping sauces available, so you’ve got options. I wish they served something sweet at the end of the meal - maybe a scoop of ice cream to go? But, not a deal breaker. Our waitress was not very attentive. She would constantly forget things and she seemed annoyed whenever we asked her for something, so that took away from the experience a bit. Overall, I still had a great meal here. It’s best to go with 4 or more people so you can try a bigger variety of things, and you’re not stuck trying to finish a plate of something you may not like. Also better to go early because when we left around 7ish, there were lots of parties waiting for a table. I found out they have a location here in NYC, so I’ll have to check that one out and see how it compares.

Awesome host and friendly staff. Food was always good but they sold out of the red wine porkbelly and rice cake paper. Had an awesome time and extremely full when we left!
