“Honestly I didn't expect to like this place as much as I did. A small shop in Waikiki that was close to my hotel. There was always a line in the morning so I knew there was potential but wasn't sure if it was just because it was convenient or good food. The answer is definitely both. With many tourists needing a grab and go meal before their next adventure snorkeling, driving, going to the beach, Musubi Cafe is a fantastic almost unbeatable option. Homemade vibes with $2-$4 per packed musubi, it's hard to beat. The eel egg spam was featured in a news article at the shop so I had to try it and the lady at the counter also recommended the bacon avacado spam. The eel egg was definitely unique (putting a high end twist to the musubi concept) and flavorful. And the bacon avacado spam definitely pleases the American palate. Tastes very much like an American breakfast. But to me and my wife, you couldn't top the egg and spam musubi. Simple but more than just the spam since the egg compliments it and accentuates it just right. And the price is definitely right too. The rice balls I felt were not as flavorful and mostly rice. I'd recommend the traditional musubis. We ended up picking some up before a beach day and some up before our flight back to the mainland. There's no dine in option and little waiting room inside so you line up outside until your number is called over the speaker. Highly recommend as a very useful and tasty option.“
“This food truck is in a little food truck corner on the busy Kuhio Ave, but it's a pretty cute and clean place with seating (most tables don't have shade). I came here last time I was in Honolulu and came back again for lunch. We ordered the miso butterfish which I remembered being so good last time and it was still amazing. So tender and flavorful, really hits the spot. The wait is a bit longer than expected for a food truck (same thing happened to me last time), so maybe don't come if you're in a rush. A bit on the pricy side but also it's in the middle of touristy Waikiki. Other than that, highly recommend!“
“I ordered a BBQ Chicken and BBQ Beef combination plate from here and enjoyed it so much. The beef had a delicious char flavor and the chicken was amazing, what was more amazing was the great service I was provided here by the staff.I recommend this place as there is so much to choose from on the menu.“
“After hiking up Diamond Head and proposing to my now wife, we stopped here for lunch based on a recommendation from a local. I had the Mixed Plate and my wife had the Miso Ginger Salmon Sandwich. All the meats were well seasoned, juicy, and delicious. I like salmon once in awhile but that salmon sandwich nailed it, I could eat it all the time. Great place to eat and I look forward to coming back in the future!“
“Hands down the best chicken place I've ever been to! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and friendliness that made me feel right at home. The customer service here is exceptional, with staff going above and beyond to ensure every customer leaves with a smile. And let's talk about the chicken - it's absolutely phenomenal! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, each bite is a culinary delight. Whether you're a fan of classic fried chicken or crave something a bit more adventurous, this place has it all. Combine that with the welcoming atmosphere and top-notch service, and you've got yourself a true gem of a restaurant. I'll definitely be coming back for more! This place is so underrated!“
“My sister and I got the chicken sandwich combo. Serving size was great - we split the sandwich and there were plenty of fries for both of us. Nice breaded, crispy chicken patty with mayo and lettuce. My sister liked the sandwich so much she ordered popcorn chicken to go ?. Service was fast and efficient. Employee offered to cut our sandwich and was super kind. Nice that the place was away from the Waikiki crazy, too.“
“This was some of the best food we had on the island and for a better price too. I appreciated that their burgers were big and hand-made and really good. I had a moco loco and it was very good. My whole family thought to was good food. It was nice to watch the surfers while we waited and while we ate.Parking: It is free beach parking.“
“Great variety and all cooked fresh to order. Takes some time because it’s fresh but we weren’t in a hurry. Nice environment inside to site and enjoy the food!Kid-friendliness: Have you standard selection of kids entries. Cheeseburger, corn dogs, grilled cheese and chicken tenders served with fries and a drink for $8.“
“New location for those who don't want to drive towards Northshore for the original Shimp Truck. That location has its own charm and is a nice stop for a trip around the island. This location is a much more convenient way to enjoy their shrimp.“
“Cannot comment on the atmosphere because we had the food delivered. The shakes were so good, nice and thick. The onion rings were my favorite. They weren’t oily at all.Loved that they had the beyond burger as an option. The bacon blue burger was good. The bottom bun was soggy, maybe the toppings had too much moisture??Really good burgers overall!“
“I really need to do a better review later but, for now I'll do a quick one. So id get the grilled Pita with Ranch Dressing ( there's a bunch more to choose from including really good hummus to use as a dip) for my nieces which they love to snack on. Then eventually I tried the Balsamic Bowl ( not sure the exact name) but, it was really good. Also, was a lot lighter and seemed like a healthier option than the huge plate lunches in used too. So then I tried something else. I think it was the Super Greek, and that was really good. I really like the jalapeño sauce they put on there. So good. Ooh, even the Hula Teriyaki is good too. All in all, I've tried about 6 different items and if I'd have to give it a rating I'd say probably a high 3 to 4 Start. That's with price, size, weight ( which I notice, lol ), taste. But why the 5 Star? It's the two awesome ladies they have working there that keeps my family and I going back. My nieces even call them aunty. They're so helpful and friendly and I've never seen them get overwhelmed or flustered even when it's been bust, and I've seen them busy. They're always so helpful and patient with people who don't know the menu as well too. I guess wasn't such a short quick review. Maybe no need make an update.“
“First timer so I decided to try 2 minis which are 5in sammys. Went with 2 popular ones…Classic cheese steak and Capastrami. Cheese steak was ooey gooey goodness. The meat was tender and the cheese brought the salty flavor all topped on a soft and chewy roll. Loved the texture and flavors. The Capastrami was next. I was not a fan but I enjoyed the sandwich. I think I’m more of a purist with pastrami. Will definitely come back to try some of the other sammys but definitely for the Classic Cheese Steak.“
“Impressed by the setup using counters that people normally are seated at to accommodate extremely long lines of customers. Most food court vendors have two or up to four workers. It was impressive Chick-fil-A seemed to have at least 10 workers. Truly the company had been blessed for taking a firm stand for Godly values a few years ago when it was the norm to bow to pressures supporting ungodliness.“
“Love their bowls here. Their curries are my favorite, especially the beef curry. Super thinly sliced so it's just the way I like it. I also got a side of kim Chee with it. Very yummy. They give a good amount of meat. Uncle always gives us an extra stamp on our stamp card.“
“Online ordering available and really convenient. They are located inside of beer lab at Pearl ridge. Food goes great with the beer available. The wagyu burger is a must. Fries tastes similar to curly fries from jack on the box, but 100 times better. Definitely will be coming back.“
“decent Chinese, local, bbq food. I eat here about 1x per month. the taste of the food is consistent and never vaies. I recommend this place for good value for the food.Parking: lots of easy to find parking. it can get busy during the weekend, but there is lots of parking as long as your willing to walk a little bit.Wheelchair accessibility: there are access ramps near Camellia Korean BBQ“
“Finally was able to make it here during our Oahu vacation, they open early and close at 3 and we kept forgetting that lol Ordered steak street tacos and a steak quesadilla. The steak is flavorful, and isn't chewy. Green salsa is great and they have different hot sauces The quesadillas is a good size and has all the fixings Definitely worth the stop, we will be returning to try their breakfast burritos“
“Great local spit in waikiki for some local dishes and also photo op to post on IG. We ordered the Loco mock and corn hash meal for breakfast, it was so tasty!. The place was busy when we got there but the line moved fast for ordering and also getting the food. The seating is all outdoors and we sat there to enjoy the meal. I would highly recommend it if you are visiting!.“
“In town for business and the security guard told us to eat lunch at Zippy's and have the Zip Pack. Not only did we have the Zip Pack, we had the Deluxe. In my mind, to have a plate with all of these very different things makes little sense - but it works. Especially when you are hungry! It's about a pound of rice, lol, a piece of fried fish, beef teriyaki, fried SPAM and a deep fried chicken thigh! Macaroni salad is on the same plate and the DELUXE version will add a huge scoop of chili on the rice. While none of these will be anywhere close to the best you've ever had - completing the lunch will give you a story to tell for the rest of your life! I'm guessing it's 2500 calories and I didn't want to eat for the rest of the day. Our server was hilarious and had fun with us. Decor is like a "mid" diner. The locals back at our office LOVE this place and were glad we stopped in.“
“This is a burger shop located in the food court on the second floor of the Royal Hawaiian Center. I ate the cheeseburger and pineapple teriyaki, and both had simple seasoning that emphasized the ingredients, allowing you to enjoy the deliciousness of the meat! It's more voluminous than it looks, so I think it's a lot for each person. The dining space has an open atmosphere, so you can enjoy the resort atmosphere!“
“Every time you come to Hawaii, this place is a must food is always consistent. Tons of varieties. I personally Unagi with egg, but the classic spam. Musubi’s are also good as well very well. Price is probably one of the best priced meals you can have in Waikiki 100% justice for anyone that comes you gotta try the classic spam musubi.“
“When visiting from the U.S. Mainland, I usually visit this Zippy's location because it's close & convenient to where my relatives live. Service is usually fast & efficient, the restaurant is reasonably clean, and the menu selection and quality are excellent. As a creature of habit, I usually order the Korean Fried Chicken plate ($17.65, Sept. 2023). A somewhat healthier version is the Korean Chicken Salad ($16.45). And we usually check out the bakery selection (Napoleon's Bakery) for something sweet to take home.“
“You can get local grindz pretty much anywhere in Hawai'i, but this one stands out for the country-style Japanese approach they take here. Managed primarily by three Japanese-American women, this spot appears to be beloved by my motherland brethren, and I can see why as where else can you find sashimi as fresh as this on a Hawaiian lunch plate? Jamie W. and I became aware of this ramshackle spot by way of a Japan-based gay couple named TabiEats who vlog relentlessly about Hawai'i. They became so nostalgic about this spot we felt a need to give it a try. Jamie ordered the straightforward $10.50 Loco Moco Plate with two fried eggs over easy and a thick brown gravy over the hefty hamburger steak (photo: It was exactly what he was looking for down to the macaroni salad and two scoops of rice. I went with the TabiEats recommendation of the $13.50 Japanese Plate Deluxe, quite a mixed plate of chicken & beef teriyaki, shrimp tempura, potato croquettes, cabbage slaw, and the unexpected highlight, slices of fresh tuna sashimi (photo: It reminded me of what my oba-san, just not at the same time. FOOD - 4.5 stars...Japanese-type lunch plates done right with plenty to eat AMBIANCE - 3 stars...looks like it's been there for decades...no place to eat unfortunately, so we sat at the bus stop and waved off the bus SERVICE - 4 stars...they've seen it all TOTAL - 4 stars...definitely a place to go if you're hungry and even hangry RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed:“
“Ebi tempura bento was really ono. Unlike the musubi (which is made fresh at the cafe) they don’t make the bento at the cafe so sometimes they run out fast. Tempura bento for less than $9 is a good deal! Service was great, these folks always working hard making the variety of fresh musubi.“
“The food was great and served hot. I ordered the Zip Pac Deluxe. My meal consisted of fried chicken, fish, teriyaki beef and spam over a bed of rice. This also comes with macaroni salad and chili. If you're a couple with one light eater, this will suffice you. Or get two and take some home for later.“
“Janet and her team are awesome! The place is super clean despite being in an industrial area where there's lots of dirt and dust in the air. Janet really makes it a point to take care of her customers and ensure they are happy with their order. The food is always fresh and tasty!“
“First of all, the two ladies working the Carl's Jr, which is also a gas service station, do an amazing job. The food was sooo good. Fries were super fresh, tasty and crunchy as well as the burgers. It has been a while, since I ate at Carl's, but it was as good as I had remembered it. The only thing that was a pity was the fact that it is located within a small gas station and therefore only offers a few seats and no real toilet and no good convenient atmosphere. They would attract many more customers with a real location; there are so many Jack in the Box, Mickey D's or BKs on Oahu, but only this one Carl's Jr. Nevertheless, I would still get the food from Carl's and eat in the car, because of their food quality, which does not taste like fast food at all.“
“I been catering my parties with them for over 10 years & everyone always raves about the food & asks where it's from. They have good party packs & give alot of food. Sometimes it could use more flavor but it's still really good. Of course it's gotten more expensive but still worth it bc they give alot. They let you sub most items, sometimes with a little upcharge. Their chicken wings are one of the best on island, sometimes I stop by just to get the chicken wings with giant fries.“
“Got it to go so I can't say a thing about the atmosphere except it was very clean , after I got home I really enjoyed the lunch the chicken was so juicy and tasty and crispy, I'll surely go back , the one thing that is not the same is they don't have the spicy chicken any more that was sooo good but the regular chicken is sooo good also try it u won't be disappointed.“
“Staff is absolutely amazing my best-friend and I are visiting from california and this is the best service we have had in a long time. The lady who helped us worked so hard and quick especially considering she was by herself. Don’t walk but run to this subway!“
“This location has an attentive and smiley staff and they make really tasty sandwiches. I am exploring the menu a bit more now and tried the tuna today. Loaded it up with lettuce tomato provolone pickles and banana peppers. Stacked on their whole wheat bread. It was healthy, light, filling, and delicious. So happy with this as one of my choices for lunch. Btw - their brewed fresh tea is quality.Parking: Around back and up top.“
“March ‘23Jets is a local small mom & pop kind of food joint. No frillsWe ordered Loco Moco and Dbl chz burger.Loco Moco was full of flavor. Take this Loco Moco over Rainbow Drive-In’s, as well as the burger too, everyday of the week.Good sized portion and good price.“
“We were SO happy with the food we ordered for our family's Chinese New Year party. Everyone loved it (especially the duck!), and there was plenty of it. We ordered ahead from the party menu, which I highly recommend. We had about 30 people and ordered the medium size of 4 different dishes plus the large serving of duck. There was plenty of everything and leftovers :-) Also, kudos to the staff who were so kind and friendly on what had to have been a super stressful day. Great start to year of the dragon! I would call them again for a party in a heartbeat.“
“Good awareness to allergies, especially if you know what you can and can't do. For me it's Gluten (they have GF buns! Just let them know you can't have it in the same toaster.) and Dairy (easy, no cheese or butter on bun.)I had a single with avo, bacon, pickles, lettuce, tomato and it was fantastic!Dietary restrictions: They have Gluten free buns and really did a great job getting my special order right!“
“Listen, is it cafeteria food? Yes, but it was the only decently priced food on the *entire* beach. Grab something to go, and then take it to the beach to relax. Cheaper than the Honolulu McDonald's by far. We were so thankful this little spot exists!“
“Dim Sum is excellent and large with a lot of veggies and shrimp! From steamed bao to baked and all the half moon/siu mai in between. Cha Siu and roast duck hang in the window for purchase. If you go after 10:45 am, it's not as crowded. Family is from Jung San. Aside from the fact that the dim sum is worth it, I have to patronize a small business that is humble and yet underrated. Go now!!“
“Open in Chinatown near the canalGood selection of foods and drinksIf you are looking for hipster refreshments do t go thereBut if you are looking for the neighborhood place that has good drinks and a small but well prepared menu this is the place to go. It's not haute cuisine. More like going to your aunts house and getting fed.“
“Got off the cruise in Honolulu for a day and went to the Ala Moana mall for lunch, looking for something different not a burger are some other fast food and cane's was there. Got some chicken fingers and a lemonade.went a burger wont do try cane's chicken with dipping sauce“
“This was money well spent. Prime rib and roasted chicken were excellent. The best buy we've had in this Makai Market Food Court. The food was excellent with a nice balance by offering salads and broccoli with our meats, and servings were generous enough to feed two people! Will definitely come again.Vegetarian options: Corn, broccoli, salads, coleslaw salad.“
“Popeyes have great chicken and has great deals. Love the macaroni and cheese .There is parking but usually the drive in window is always busy and has a line. You can order on line or call in your order it's usually fast to get your order.“
“Clean, local friendly good food great service always a great place to drop in an eat anytimeDietary restrictions: 8m sure they do it's a big variety menuParking: Parking available at restaurant also hcap as wellKid-friendliness: Most definitely and they have a kids menu for a good price.Wheelchair accessibility: I believe there was 2 hcp stalls but plenty parking close to restaurant“
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Subway located at 1425 Liliha St #6, Honolulu, HI 96817, and I must say it was an amazing experience. From the moment I walked in, I could tell that the staff at this Subway truly puts love into making their sandwiches. The level of care and attention they put into each sandwich was truly exceptional. They took their time to layer each ingredient with precision, ensuring that every bite was full of flavor and texture. It was clear that they were not just throwing together a sandwich, but crafting a culinary masterpiece. The staff at this Subway were also incredibly friendly and engaging. They greeted me with a smile and treated me like a valued customer. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful suggestions for toppings and sauces. It was clear that they took pride in their work and wanted to ensure that every customer had a great experience. In addition to the amazing sandwiches and friendly service, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was clean and inviting. The seating area was well-maintained and comfortable, creating a pleasant dining environment.I highly recommend visiting this Subway location on 1425 Liliha St #6, Honolulu, HI 96817. The staff's dedication to making delicious sandwiches with love and care, coupled with their friendly service, sets them apart from other Subway locations. Give it a try and experience the difference for yourself!Best on the Island!“
“It always seems crowded but the lines moves fairly quick. The chicken fingers are always soft with a light crunch to it. The bread is delicious and chewy. Fries are hot and fresh. The sauce is very different. I would say better than ChikfilA in my opinion.Free parking in the building in the back.“
“We normally go to Kapahulu Zippys but on this particular saturday evening after 9pm it was packed with tourist, 6 of them in front of us and they were not familiar with the menu, one cashier in training...and one hungry customer that could not wait for 6 tourist to order. Not sure why but Zippys is seeing a influx of tourist. So we left and headed up to 6th ave Zippys with NO one in line and empty...wonderful service and food was fast. I'm normally okay with having zippys but this time I had to do a review for this saturday night dinner. Upon arriving at Kaimuki location parking lot was empty (sweet), no one in line, Cashier was on it...we ordered the special korean tofu and zip pack (for those familiar with zippys the portions have been decreasing in recent years, well not tonight), the zip pac had a bumbucha chicken and nice size portions, the korean tofu was really really good, did side order of mac salad which seemed larger than on the plate lunch. We also did napples which we waited 7 mins for (yes they made to order), that didn't make it home, had to eat it warm and fresh from the oven. Next stop zippys? Yes yes yes and kaimuki from now on. There was a point where kaimuki was always out of items especially the bakery but after seeing so many tourist at kapahulu, we are going back to Kaimuki and pray and hope they not sold out when we get there for our late dinners.“
“Fast service even with long lines. The food is more pricey than other fast foods but the quality of the food is really good! I love their spicy chicken deluxe sandwich. Donʻt forget the sauces which are all good! I usually order a Shake too. Itʻs nice and creamy. One of the best shakes on island.“
“Forget Chick fil A, Poppies is where it’s at! ? Their chicken is so crispy and crunchy, you can hear it crackle with every bite. ? And the spice level is just right, not too mild, not too wild. ?️ Plus, you get to enjoy the Louisiana vibe, with colorful decor and friendly staff. ? And don’t get me started on their sides, they are out of this world! ? Biscuits, fries, mash, honey, and more, you’ll want to try them all. ? I can’t get enough of that chicken from Poppies, it’s my favorite thing ever! ?“
“As far as fast food goes, this is one of the best on the island. The chicken is choice breast pieces with a light batter that is deep fried just right. Best fried chicken on the island (better than those other ones, yes). The fries are homey and tasty. The sides are ok: Cole slaw is not special. The sauce is ok, basic ketchup mayo with some paprika and maybe other spices. The bread is excellent. It’s fried chicken, but overall it’s a little lighter, a little tastier. The kids love it as well. I wish they’d work on the coleslaw, maybe make it a little less mayo based?“
“Unintentionally walked in close to closing with my bf and Mike was so welcoming and provided us with stellar customer service without rushing us. One last customer walked and in and Mike invited him in with a warm professional attitude and it was refreshing! My Bf forgot my cookies, Mike overheard and came back to the register when he could have let it go because I clearly said “it’s okay, I’ll get cookies at 7/11” he took care of us and ringed us up promptly and again demonstrated great service. Thank you Mike! Your work ethic is refreshing to witness.“
“Great food. The service was really great. They burned the katsu and decided to recook it rather than give us a burnt one. The price was very good as well. Chow menu plate, orange chicken plate and a big side of kayak was $34. Seems like a mom and pop shop and the ambiance was just that if one. Make sure to check them out and give us a follow @thehungrynomadz on instagram/TikTok”.“
“Went here for dinner, meals were good however the $25 brisket plate had two small chunks of brisket. Wasn’t super happy with the pizza but it was as advertised. We also got wings which were seasoned very well although why they even bother serving the ends of them when they’re too burnt to eat is beyond me. Service was great.“
