Really lovely homely feeling Japanese restaurant! I'm super sad to have just come here and hear that they are closing at the end of the year! Hoping that they find a new spot to open up again! Went here for lunch and was promptly greeted and had our vaccination cards checked. Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii... Deciding where to go with Yelp friends is sometimes challenging. At times, we all want to try a new place - and at other times, we want to visit a place that's going to close their business. Menchanko-Tei will be closing on 1-16-22. My parents recommended this place when I said I was really in the mood for good tonkatsu before heading back to NY. Well this place certainly didn't disappoint as it was, outside of Japan, the best tonkatsu I've ever had! Now if looking for fancy decor or a real nice ambiance, this may not be the spot but if you want AMAZING food, I would highly recommend this place.
