“my daughter and I went to barleys yesterday for lunch. loved that it was handicap accessible without any steps. We sat towards the back of the reatraunt and was quickly serviced by a waitress to get our drink orders and given menus. I ordered the patty melt and my daughter ordered a Canadian pizza. both were really good. the only thing we wished were different and I say we because she stole a lot of my fries lol were the fries needed seasoned with something. we had to add salt. and the patty melt sandwich could've used an added sauce like Dorothy lynch or something. it wasn't dry just needed something else to add flavor. otherwise it was really good. will definitely be back.“

“We've been participating in group bike rides starting and ending at Railway Inn on Wednesdays since September. The proximity to the FIRST AVE bike trail can't be beat and its convenient location in Council Bluffs is a great stopping point for almost any bike ride. I really enjoy their veggie burger and LOVE how you can swap any of their creative burgers for a veggie burger. Tom is a very attentive bartender/server. We will be back again and again! “My husband & I visited on 12/30 (his first time but not mine) and the food was great. We got mushrooms for the appetizer. they came out hot & fresh. my husband got the chicken fried steak dinner & I got the Philly sandwich. both were good. the only issues we had were my husband said the breading on the chicken fried steak was a little salty & the service, while not terrible, was not the greatest (checked on us during appetizers but didn't come back until we were done to ask if we wanted refills on our drinks). overall, a pleasant experience & my husband says he definitely wants to go back.“

“We were in town for a baseball tournament and stopped here for lunch in between games and had a party of around 30 ppl. They welcomed us with open arms. Without any prior notice, we walked in with our large baseball family, got seated, had drinks served and orders taken within 10 min. Our food arrived piping hot within 15 min and was absolutely delicious!! I’m sure we put a slight strain on the staff and cook, so we were just blown away by their 5 star service. Just awesome!! “My wife and I stopped here for breakfast on Feb 18 while visiting the Omaha, Ne/Council Bluff, Iowa area. The food was great but they were very short staffed this particular morning. However, the staff that was working, our waitress was Kimmie, were going full speed ahead trying to get orders taken and food served. All together from the time we set down to the time we checked out was about an hour. The quality of the food and the effort on the part of the staff that was working will allow me to revisit the Apple Barrel for breakfast in the future.“

“The women's bathroom could have been a little cleaner. But this big truck stop sells both cold and hot food options, snacks, beverages, clothes, stuffed animals and many other things. There is an Apple Barrel restaurant attached to the store. The cashier Julie that rang up my items was very friendly.“

My husband and I have visited before and had the Bloody Mary fishbowl which was beyond our wildest expectations. We will definitely be back simply because of our experience today. As we were not happy with the sandwiches, the staff went out of their way to make things right. I don't ever return food, I just don't eat it. Located right on the river, next to the bike path at the base of the Bob Kerry pedestrian bridge (east side!). Free parking if you're not on foot or bike - the location doesn't get any better. Outdoor seating to enjoy during nice weather with wonderful views of the river and downtown Omaha skyline. Really nice clean vibe with modern finishes. Limited menu with snacks, sandwiches, coffee, beer, and some drinks. A great place for happy hour, but closes by 6 PM so stop by for a drink early and check the place out.“

“Today was our 4th trip to Culvers. The meal we had was delicious. They have the softest pretzels and hot cheese I have ever had. I was really disappointed though with the raspberry malt. it looked like a chocolate malt instead of a raspberry one. I took a swallow and got a big mouth full of malt flavor. topped off with big chunks of raspberry. it might have been good if it was one of the cement drinks. I called back and told the worker what had happened, he said bring it back and we'll make a new one. Thank you for your kindness sir. I would definitely recommend Culvers to anyone“
“Went there Feb 27 2024. The food was really fresh. They kept the salad bar well stocked. The hot food was really good. The only downside was the chicken livers. They were stale tough and kinda dried out. But there was plenty other food that was fresh and hot. My wife and I did not have NO COMPLAINTS. I will be back on our next trip to council bluffs. “Seven One Two . We can't rate them high enough. Food, service and overall quality are excellent. Details below. To start off, I'm in a wheelchair. Most places that are accessible will watch my wife struggle to get through the door or a customer will help. Not the case here. My wife was about to grab for the door and one of the staff was right there, with a smile. We were seated immediately, out of the way, but not hidden in the corner. Our server, Sheree, was awesome. She answered our questions and explained the specials. She returned appropriately fast to take our order. Being about 2/3 full, I was expecting a bit of a wait, but our drinks were brought out quickly. The food is excellent. Expect it to be what the menu says it will be, not what you want or think it might be. We had the crab cakes for our appetizer. It had a good amount of crab and not all bread crumbs. My wife had the peach flatbread. Exactly what the menu said it would be and delicious. I had the beef stroganoff. After a little hiccup, it was as ordered and very yummy. We were disappointed that we didn't have room for a dessert, but we will make sure to leave room in the future. When we were leaving, 2 staff members were headed to open the door for us.
