The food here is good. There were just a couple of things that prevented me from giving a 5 star rating. The bread you get when you first sit down is amazing, in fact we asked for more with our meal.

It was my fiancé’s birthday and she wanted a good Italian restaurant, and I knew just the place to take her.Her mother loved the lasagna, she loved her chicken parm, and I loved my chicken carbonara. Everything had awesome flavor and good portion sizes as we all had leftovers to take home.Julie provided us excellent and friendly service! We will definitely be back for the excellent food and Julie’s excellent service.

The salad was a bit more limp than I liked, but the antipasta was FANTASTIC. We were near the entrance so every time a customer came in we did get a draft, but the service was amazing!

We had our company Christmas lunch at Baratta's today and it was fantastic! The food was excellent and the turn around time from the kitchen was super fast. The room was very nice and everything was very clean. The customer service was top notch our servers were so attentive and accommodating! Absolutely no complaints!

I want to like this place more. The service is good and the venue is nice. The food is tremendously bland and unseasoned. I got onion rings and chicken strips, neither had any flavor at all. I previously ordered a burger and was similarly underwhelmed.Other people seem to like it fine, though, and it appears to be a popular restaurant. It must be a generational thing, because other old school Des Moines places are similar.
