Decent food, decent beer. Good place to snag food before a civic center show.

This restaurant is amazing for how busy it is on Saint Patties. The corned beef special and apple crisp was amazing. I sat at the bar and Laura was the best server I met. She was very timely and prompt with refills and payment! 10/10

The service at Court Avenue Brewhouse was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food lacked. We stopped in for a quick anniversary dinner. My husband’s burger was overcooked, and since I was feeling celebratory, I ordered the pork chops…. They were tough and overcooked as well. We should have stopped there, but we decided to order dessert… oh my… we ordered apple crisp, but what arrived was a mess of caramel with granola and ice cream literally swimming in it. It was as not tasty.

First time eating at this place, and I was actually impressed. Upon walking in, it was lit with dim lighting with fake candles on each table to help with some nice ambience (which I really like, makes me feel richer than I really am.. lol ). Overall place was clean, tables and booths were nice and clean, place was not overly loud so I could hear my conversation without being disturbed or the feeling of needing to yell. I ordered a glass of water as my beverage, and my entree was the Italian grazziano meat pizza. The pizza was cooked throughly and had a nice crunch on the crust, the meats tasted good and it wasn't overly greasy considering it had sausage on it. Pizza was about a 10 inch pie with about 8 slices. Nothing too huge, nothing too small. For me, it was a perfect size to get full and have left overs later. The server was very kind as well. Checked in on us a few times, refilled my water and kept a professional attitude. I will not disclose names, but she did a great job taking care of us. Person I went with ordered chicken tenders and fries , and both of those were also quite good! No complaints here. The food was fairly good, as I found no flaws really. I will definitely be back. One last thing, the pizza, chicken tenders, + 1 mule roughly came out to about 39$. Not too bad considering a drink and 2 fairly decently sized dishes. If you're looking to stay under 50$ and have a fun chill date, this is a good place.

This experience wasn't quite what we had hoped for. The service was mediocre. The server was kind of crabby and uninterested in serving us when she found out we weren't ordering meals. We did order some french fries which were cold and she never offered us any utensils or napkins. The beer was hit or miss. Didn't stay and try them all because the service wasn't worth paying for.On a positive note to ambiance was fantastic, beautiful old town building. Wish we would have had a better experience.

I always order the jambalaya, great dish there. Tonight, I ordered the fish and chips, and I was disappointed. I got three cod fish sticks instead of true cod pieces. Perfectly crispy but devoid of flavor, something that would go in a fish taco. I could expect them from a lesser quality restaurant, not from here. Management, please retire that dish from the menu to prevent unnecessary disappointment. If you want to know what I expected, go around the corner to The Royal Mile.

Trivia on Wednesday night in the bar was so amazing! We are from out of town and thought it would be fun to have a trivia night out in des moines. Kaylee was our server and made the experience epic!! Recommended the best pineapple shot. Kelly was the manager and even gave us Iowa beer t shirts knowing we were from out of town. It was such a fun night. Highly recommend. ?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to live off of the Jumbalaya this winter. I ordered it spicy. Delish and the muffin on top was the perfect combination! We had a server in training. She was very attentive and kind!

Service was 10/10 absolutely amazing and so was our appetizer and the CAB sandwich. Only reason I’m not giving 5 is because burger was very bland and just kind of tasted like plain unseasoned beef.

Made reservations ahead. Table was ready for 8 of us with water and menus at the table. Service was great even with a lot of people there before a performance we were going to. A couple of our meals were slightly overdone. But I still gave 5 stars because usually the food here is really good. in our previous times we have been here.

During a recent business trip, I found myself famished after a long flight. After ride-sharing to my hotel, I checked Yelp and noticed Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company was within walking distance so I decided to give them a try. I chose to order a few items off of their starters instead of ordering from the lunch menu. On arrival, I sat at the bar and was greeted by a lovely bartender whose name I believe was Laura. She was fantastic. Due to allergies, I had to customize my order to exclude many of the sauces/ additives of their starters (such as the Cajun wing sauce or the red peppers, olives, pepperoncinis, cherry tomatoes, & cucumber dill dressing). You may be thinking that the food lacked flavor due to these adjustments, but you would be absolutely incorrect. The food tasted fantastic and the service was exceptional. I truly enjoyed a great meal in a welcoming environment. I highly recommend Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company for lunch or dinner in Downtown Des Moines.

They did an amazing job of getting our small party a table, but things went downhill from there. The section we were in was half empty - and had two servers - yet we waited 10 minutes for drink refills. When the food arrived a half hour later it was lukewarm on the top and room temperature elsewhere. I've eaten here before and enjoyed it, but tonight was a bad experience and I will consider that the next time I eat in the Court District.

Good “older school” brewery restaurant in downtown Des Moines with quality new school beers. Over the past few years they have improved beer quality tremendously, they now do decent hazy IPA, dark beers, sours, plus their more traditional old school craft styles. The food is well executed, a mix of traditional steakhouse fare (steak, prime rib, salmon, etc.), plus a few unique pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and bar type apps (wings, pretzels).
