I've been here in person and also ordered many times from this place. I usually get tofu, miso, edamame and a variety of sushi. Everything is usually very delicious. I can't get enough of this place! Why four stars? In person, the bar to the side and the general restaurant the layout are not the best-- it does kind of drag down the atmosphere. The calamari, I'm not sure why-- it's hit or miss. Not my favorite place for calamari unfortunately. They have a habit of forgetting ginger in delivery orders and I REALLY love ginger, haha. All in all, I really enjoy this restaurant! There's just those few things. If you are a seafood fan, this is a great spot!

Being raised on oahu and having fresh fish on my fingertips daily you learn a thing or 2 about fresh fish and this is the closestI'vegot to home??Food was absolutely phenomenal. Fresh tasting very flavorful and service was great.

I reviewed Haiku near to when it opened, about eight years ago. My favorite dining companion also had a bad experience there, separate from mine, but around the same time. We were informed there had been a change of management, and the current reviews seemed to be pretty good, so we felt they deserved another chance. The decor was nice when we entered. We were greeted and seated immediately. We looked through the menu and made some selections. We opted for the Tiger Roll and the Sashimi Appetizer. I pretty much always require Sashimi when I go to a sushi restaurant. I may or may not get a sushi roll, but Sashimi is an absolute requirement. Yellowtail is my all time favorite (Baby Yellowtail specifically is the real champ), but I don't tend to turn down any Sashimi. Just don't give me Uni. I won't eat that. The Sashimi was fresh, tasty, and very satisfying. My only complaint really was that we didn't order more Sashimi! The Tiger Roll was an impressive combination of flavors. The fish and Avocado blended well, and the "crunch" added some additional texture. A very solid sushi Roll overall. I must say that this visit to Haiku was in stark contrast to my previous visit eight years ago. I can now absolutely recommend them, and am happy to have a good Sashimi restaurant in the Drake area we can go to, as well. Highly recommended!

Rolls at the price point just seemed to miss the mark. Our favorite sushi spot was closed so we figured we would give this a shot. Only 3 other tables had customers seated and that should have been the sign. The staff was very friendly
Second time around just to make sure. I am positive about my 2 ? rating. They have got to do better with service. Asked for my check, got the check, put my credit card in the sleeve, she picked it up and went waited on a party. And I'm very sure the egg rolls are not fresh. They were so mushy on the inside.

My favorite restaurant in Des Moines. The service is beyond amazing and the staff go above and beyond to make your experience memorable and full of smiles. The food is prepared and presented beautifully. I have eaten most of the food available on the menu and can honestly say I have never eaten a bad meal at this restaurant. HIGHLY recommended.
