The food was excellent and hot! I had the Filet Mignon and it was done to perfection! The service was superior! I don't believe I have been out to eat esp lately where everyone is moving! No one went at a slow pace! The restaurant was maxed out! Obviously has a good reputation! This was my first time and we will come back! Keep up the great work!

This is a local place. Not a chain. The friendliness, the great food and the fact that they are local makes this a great place. Hidden gem.

I got the salad and lasagna. Salad was fresh and delicious buttermilk ranch. Lasagna was fine, I’m not a big strong red sauce fan but if you like your red sauce with more of a kick then you might like it. Nice place, employees were nice, decent little Italian place for family.

We went early at 4:30 to avoid the foreseeable crowds and were seated right away. Ordered the half portion of onion rings. Beware the size as it was a dinner plate stacked high. Delicious. I had angel hair pasta with red sauce, half of it came back to the motel. Hubby had Veal Marsala with a side of sautéed peppers. He said it was the best veal he ever had, and finished everything. We both had a salad that was included with dinner. The only bad part was the tasteless stale rolls. Garlic bread would have been a better addition. The waitress said they had been made fresh this morning. I have made all the bread and rolls by hand that we have eaten for the last two years and it just doesn't get hard and tasteless for a long time. I think the waitress was misled. We let it slide.

Always a great experience at and the food is amazing. Favorite Italian place that I've been to outside of Italy! Tried the dessert this time, tiramisu and cheesecake did not disappoint

Food wasn't great. Just average main dishes. Service was good. Onion rings and Wanda's are wonderful

We went early on a Saturday evening the wait wasn't too long.... Had a drink at the bar and chatted with the friendly bartender. Very good and reasonably priced! Everything was authentic and the soup was delicious! My only regret is I was too full to try dessert!

Had a 7 year olds party here. 20 people planned for the patio and of course the weather didn't agree. Owner called me personally days before and asked if I would like to move inside if the weather didn't work out. They put us in a room of our own, the food was great, and so was the service. Never been disappointed with Tumea's.

I've lived in Des Moines for 25 years and talked about wanting to eat here for years but just never got around to it. Tonight my husband and I finally tried it for the first time and we loved it. We can see why it's so popular and a Des Moines favorite. The parking lot was full so we were expecting a very long wait. However, when we got inside we discovered we'd only have to wait a couple minutes. That was a nice surprise. I ordered the cavatelli with Graziano sausage and my husband got the Penne Salsiccia. I thought my cavatelli was excellent and very cheesy, but I have to say that it's not the best cavatelli I've ever had. I was kind of hoping it would be a little spicier but it was still very good. My husband liked his pasta a lot, too, and said it was spicy. I stole a bite and agreed that it was really good. We didn't have to wait very long for our food and it came out not too long after we finished our salads. The portions for both of our dishes were a pretty good size and we both took home leftovers. I really appreciated that they also gave us each two pieces of bread and a nice-sized salad with our entrees. Most newer restaurants don't include that with their dinners. And it wasn't just a cheap iceberg lettuce salad. There was a combination of iceberg lettuce, leaf lettuce and romaine. Their salad dressings were also awesome. I really loved the house dressing which was a creamy garlic parmesan and my husband liked his blue cheese dressing. They both tasted homemade. The place isn't fancy and it's not the most romantic if you're taking a date there but it makes up for it with the great food and the awesome service. It looks a little bit dated but it feels homey with all the family photos on the wall. Our waitress Natalie was awesome and she was on the ball the whole time we were there. She refilled my water even before my water glass was completely empty. I usually have to track down someone when I need my water refilled. She also checked in on us a couple times to make sure everything was alright. Her friendliness and upbeat attitude were really refreshing. I wish more servers had the same attitude as her. I really like the unpretentiousness of this place. It's a great neighborhood restaurant and you get great food at a reasonable price. I'm so happy to add this to our list of favorite restaurants. We'll be back for sure.

It was amazing, you should go here. Went basic af with spaghetti and sauce, and it was simply the best, better than all the rest.
