“Was taken out to dinner to celebrate graduating graduate school, so I don't know how much the bill was, but I absolutely loved the Rib Eye steak. They did it rare just the way I like it on the first try. Bison meatball app was killer, totally a vibe. Also, both their Manhattan and Old Fashioned were well made drinks that paired well with the rustic food. I chose Mac and cheese for my side and liked it, but ended up taking most of it home in a box. Other guest with me ordered salmon and said it was perfectly cooked so I included pictures as well.Definitely recommend for a date or a celebration of some kind, even if you're going alone I imagine the vibe could work well.“

“This place is giving quaint, cozy library and the music mix was definitely a chill indie vibe. This building has been many different bars/eateries in the past and I’m glad to see a restaurant like The Black Angel on this corner now.The menu is a good size, on the smaller side which typically means (to me) better quality food. Many sandwich and po boy variations. I enjoyed the Des Moines po boy which had Italian sausage patties and a huge portion of thick cut ham. It was phenomenal and loved having a Caesar salad as a side option. Our table also split the chips and queso. Queso was more Tex Mex vs the queso blanco flavor you’d expect at a Mexican restaurant. We really enjoyed it though. Chips were pretty good. I prefer thinner crispier chips where these were thicker.Ended it all with the bread pudding dessert which I inhaled. So delicious. Only thing I wished was that it was served warmer and with vanilla ice cream instead of whipped cream. Will definitely be returning to try other sandwiches and maybe their breakfast as well! Also worth nothing the pricing is very fair. I feel like eating out has gotten so expensive but we got two entrees and a dessert for $42. Haven’t spent that little on dinner in Iowa City in a long time.“

The front desk host was welcoming and efficient. Our server Stephanie was amazing with her promptness, knowledge and bubbly personality. The cinnamon roll was very light and not overly sweet. We had the eden and the California omeletts. The smoked chicken in the California was perfect and both very good. The biscuits were noteworthy too. One of our party had the eggs Benedict and it was prepared very well. This is my favorite breakfast place in Iowa City after my first visit!“

“Very unique, creative and very delicious food! When we were there, we tried the west coast wrap and it was full of greens and grilled chicken, goat cheese and pistachios.Fresh food, made to order. One goes up to the register to order and then you wait while they fix your food and then you take it and go sit down. They are multi-level, it's narrow and not excessively deep, but there is quite of bit of seating for two people or four people and even if you're just by yourself. There are larger tables up stairs, (they have two floors) The restrooms are on the second floor, as well. Stairs are used to access the second level. They also have very tasty drinks. We had the blueberry lemonade.Vegetarian options: I do believe that you could get any wrap adjusted to your dietary needs. One could turn a wrap vegetarian. One could add cheese or leave off cheese. I think that they would accommodate that.Kid-friendliness: I would say it was kid friendly. There is a big front window and it seems like a very fun place that children would like to be.Parking: Street parking at metered spots, or one could park in the car park(ramps) and walk.“

“My husband and I had a wonderful experience at the webster last night. I would highly recommend if you want a more fine dining elevated type of night out for food and/or drinks. Since it was last minute we ended up eating at the bar but it was a good experience as well. Great bar to come in for a drink and a small plate to share before venturing out in the city.We had beer and wine as our drink choices. Small plates we ordered were oysters and wagyu tartar. The large plates ordered were trout and scallops. A side of potato salad was shared as well. And for dessert the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream.Oysters were good with the apple kimchi sauce. I do prefer more of the strong lemon citrus flavors. They did state the Island creek variety oysters aren’t served around the area that they have seen. Wagyu tartar (locally sourced from Jiyu American Wagyu Farms) was great and the seasoning was nice with the cumin flavor coming out. The warm in house pita chips/bread it was served with were very tasty as well. The trout was very good and the sauce it was served with was delightful. I was craving scallops since it had been a minute so I ordered the scallops. They were cooked perfectly! The items it was served with weren’t my favorite- quinoa and escarole and were too cold for my liking. The potato salad side dish was sooo good as well. Highly recommend this one.I wanted to try the hyped up lemon curd but opted for more our style of dessert the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and it was sooo good if you are craving the more moist and gooey style of dessert. We were sooo full but had to have the dessert.Next time perhaps we will splurge on the dry aged beef and I want to try the famous duck noodles. And the tuna or hamachi crudo.“

We just happened to hit happy hour as well, so I was expecting a bigger bill. So, I just put a little more in their tip.Burgers are great, drinks are cold, service is wonderful. I substitute the potatoe salad for French fries, and it's really good.I would recommend this place 11 times out of 10 over that 5 Guys place, especially on a Monday. Their burgers are way better! And you can even have an adult beverage with it!Anyone traveling along I-80 should stop here for a burger. Especially if it's a Monday.Parking: There is plenty of parking, but there isn't really a place for truckers trucks hauling/pulling a trailer. So that kind of sucks.“

“Our experience at Wilson's Ciderhouse was truly top-notch, making it one of the best dining experiences I've had in Iowa. The atmosphere was quiet and delightful, setting the perfect mood for a romantic date night.Exceptional Service: A big shoutout to our server, Rachel, who was incredibly friendly and helpful. She went above and beyond with her recommendations, guiding us through the menu and suggesting delicious options based on our preferences. Her attentiveness throughout the evening was greatly appreciated.Delicious Food & Drinks: We opted for the cider flight, and it was a revelation! Each cider was complex and bursting with flavor, showcasing the quality of the ingredients. Our main courses were equally impressive. The Braised Lamb Shoulder was a standout - incredibly tender and flavorful, accompanied by perfectly braised collards that offered a touch of bitterness and the delightful zing of ginger-spiced cashews. The Roasted Great Lakes Walleye was cooked to perfection, with delicate yet rich flavor.Highly Recommended: Overall, Wilson's Ciderhouse exceeded our expectations on every level. The combination of exceptional service, delicious food and drinks, and a charming atmosphere made for an unforgettable evening. “I've been to Hudson's many times as it's on the way home but it not been here and probably almost a year. It was Friday afternoon but the place seemed more lively and upbeat. The menu is fairly expansive with quite a few options, some of them outside the normal fare. The prices had gone up a bit but the food was really quite good, I had the meatloaf sandwich and my wife had a salad that was much better than a far more expensive place a few nights earlier. The beer prices seem quite high to me, but I haven't been out drinking in quite a while. they do have an outdoor patio in the summer that borders a fairly quiet street, it is a great place to grab an afternoon sandwich. “We originally bought tickets for the dueling pianos on a Friday night. We decided to make reservations and have dinner there. We started with the shrimp cakes and duck wontons. We also got a bourbon flight to try 4 different bourbons. We got the bone in Iowa chop with brussels and mash. We finished with the creme brulee and drinks. The shrimp cakes were good with a sweet chili sauce. The duck wontons were fantastic and awesome. I would order these any time, every time. The bourbon flight was not for me, not a bourbon person apparently. The main course was excellent. The Brussels were crispy and tasty. The mash was smooth and flavorful. It was a great compliment to the thick and juicy Iowa chop. The creme brulee was good and the drinks were decent. The shrimp cakes were good however I would rather order the duck wontons. The main course was fantastic and I would definitely order this again. The creme brulee was good, pretty standard brulee. The drinks were ok. I probably wouldn't order drinks, other than wine or beer, here as they are small and pretty pricey. The waiter was good though he did drop off towards the end and my drink order got list whether he forgot or the bar didn't do it but he did blame it on the bar. Overall, the food was excellent and worth the trip. I would say give it a try for good m, not so much the drinks.“
