The games and puzzles gave the atmosphere a little something extra. My entire family enjoyed working on the puzzle while we devoured a sweet treat! “Dad, my Brother Tom, and I recently had supper here and choice Mi CasitaLa Carreta for 2 reasons: 1. It was one of the few restaurants that he hadn't been. 2. It was an excuse for a short road trip to 'Nev-AH-da' Iowa, which is not to be confused with my home state of 'Nev-ADD-uh' 3. The family of the Wife of a local Subaru service tech that I know owns this place and it's sister restaurant in Boone (La Cerreta). That's not really a firm connection, and I didn't mention anything during our visit. Mi Casita is located in a reasonably vibrant (at least by Iowa small town standards) downtown Nevada, but it was a quiet night both inside and out. Service was pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. We also had a nice comfortable booth, with warm chips provided. Our Mexican food choices were all very good. I enjoyed my Enchiladas Suizas (with a Negra Modelo), while Tom had Vegetarian Enchiladas, and Dad has his usual chicken burrito. At 95+ years of age, this guy still has quite an appetite! I was grateful for avoiding the refried beans (as a matter of principle), but did wish that I would have asked for my dish to be a little spicier. The final check was very reasonable and we did enjoy being part of a birthday song at an adjacent table. Dad had some sort of super burrito, while I picked a spicey grilled chicken dish (pollo loco) with tortillas.. We both enjoyed our big portion choices and I appreciated not having refried beans, and enjoying the meat for what it was. Our spice was about right, and there was no need for hot sauce. Mexican beers rounded out our meal, with the final check being very reasonable.”

“I’m not sure if they’ve changed their pork tenderloin breading recipe, but it was definitely different than the last time I ate here. Chunks of what look like saltine crackers in the breading. And they’d been fried too long, they were very tough. It’s a shame because when I was here in 2021 it was the best pork tenderloin in Iowa! Fried mushrooms and the shake were good, though!”

“Usually go here weekdays and it's great. Good experienced staff make a sandwich as you expect. Weekends are different. Usually staffed by teenagers of varying quality. Some of them clearly don't give a damn one bit. Go for weekdays and stay away on weekends”

“Super easy to find. Took frozen into Gate A (the 1st driveway). Stop & call to check in (see other drivers photo). Arrived at 7:30 for a 9:00 appointment. I was in a dock by 8. They come out & break your seal. No having to slide tandems, wear vest or show drivers license. Simply do the job. They started unloading me fast. They bring out paperwork when unloaded. Great place!”

“Took awhile for someone to take our order and this was 3rd time here and no gizzards again so we got cheese curds and a pizza and I gotta say they were the BEST cheese curds on the planet, and the time before we ordered their nachos and the order was ginormous we barely got 1/3 eaten between 3 of us and the yummy factor is thru the roof, best food only disappointed no gizzards every time, next visit we're coming for the chicken and hopefully gizzards, but even if they don't webstill love the food and the nostalgia”

“I hate to beat up McDonald's because the folks working there are trying. Let's just admit Ronald is dead and these employees don't get the support they deserve because franchise owners aren't really giving them what they need. McDonald's isn't a career job for most so give them a break as this is entry level work and the employees are growing into more stable and permanent environments. This visit the fryers were broken so no crispy chicken for me.”

My husband had pancakes and I had the Cluck Click Skillet with the side of biscuits and gravy. “Stumbled across The Tattered Toad when the orchard we were going to didn't have any vegetarian options for lunch. The fried cauliflower, mac abd cheese bites, poppers, onion rings and hot pepper bites were so tasty. Everyone enjoyed their food and they even have a kids menu. There is a super fun playground across the street that all 3 kids plus the grown ups had fun in.”
