Carpentersville has a few Chinese restaurants, and this is one that's a little above average at best. It was actually better than expected. New Hunan is located in a strip mall. Even so, give it a chance before you knock it. The food and restaurant is better than it looks. After placing a to go order, I came. It was pretty empty inside. They were only accepting to go orders, so that's why. Basic menu items. We got the Fried Tofu With Vegetables. It's about $10 for the only portion....read full review

I’ve been going to this place for over 20 years , know the owner she’s very kind , love their food is like a little china town in Carpemtrsville , my kids grew eating there now that they are married they tell nothing like “our Chinese place in Carpemtrsville “ and do agree with them

Really like this place, I was shown New Hunan during the peak of the pandemic so I've never actually dinned in. But their food is great, and their customer service is just as good. Always answer the phone in a polite and friendly manner which is rare for "fast food" or "shack" not sure what you'd call this type of business. I really recommend it their food never misses.
