This local staple has grown from a tiny one room restaurant to a much larger space with a bar and outdoor patio, all while still remaining at the same address near campus and retaining the same high quality of Mexican food they've always served with cheerful aplumb. They also have the best dang margaritas in town too! With a free parking lot, why go anywhere else?Parking: Small, free lot that fills up quick during busy times.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair parking spot.

Most of what I ate had an off flavor that I couldn't identify. Compared to other places in the area, the chips and salsa were about the worst I've had. I don't know what it was, but the salsa tasted really off (the mild and spicy were both this way), and the chips themselves weren't much better. For what it's worth, my wife thought they were fine, although nothing special. When my entree arrived, the rice was hard, and the pinto beans had a strange taste to them. Unfortunately, I also had a burrito which had the same beans inside. I had an enchilada with the flank steak chipotle and that was OK. On a positive note, the Diet Coke was some of the best I've had, and the chorizo taco was quite good. My wife had a tamale that was very dry and dense, but she did enjoy the fried fish tacos she had.Although the menu is very large, I found it oddly lacking compared to options offered elsewhere. No chori pollo (chicken, chorizo, cheese), or pollo el rey (like fajitas, but with chicken, chorizo, potatoes, onions, and jalapenos). Overall, the experience was a bit disappointing. There may be good things you can get here, if you know just the right food to order. We used to come here pre-COVID and thought it was a lot better before. If you want some better Mexican in the area, I recommend either Huaraches Moroleon or Casa Del Mar, both in Urbana.

Excellent food, fast, and good service. I had the Alex's tacos. They really are delicious and the cebollita is a baby onion that's been grilled. It's delicious with the tacos, would recommend a bit of the onion and then the tacos! Lime on top, was the perfect addition. They are a bit oily because of the ground pork, but it's up to personal preference.

NEVER GO HERE I went here with my friends for a chill night out and it was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I was a waitress for 5 years so I always support a good staff but I will never say anything good about this place. I went here with 4 friends and we ordered one margarita on the rocks each, after over an hour of no drinks I finally got track of the waiter and he said our drinks were coming and then he was not to be seen. After 1:45 I went to the manger who was no help and I got no apology or any sense of remorse from the manger of the waiter, even though everyone around us had received several rounds. The waiter when I asked was rude and mean and could have cared less about any of us there. There are other Mexican restaurants around this area that are better and have better service and have nicer people.

Over the years this place has varied from good to very good. The food is tasty and generous though can't speak to most of it as I usually get my favorite, the Alex tacos. The staff is friendly without being intrusive and my friends and I like eating outside in summer (has a roof). Overall a pleasant place and consistent.

My go to for Mexican. Guac is yummy, chicken is great in any meal. Salsa isn't made with canned tomatoes. Margaritas are the best
