“Can get a bit packed on a weekend night as it's one of a handful of viable Indian options downtown. We were quoted about 15-20 minutes wait time but they didn't let us stand in the vestibule outside and corralled us into a corner of the front to wait.Chicken vindaloo was good - not as spiced as I would have liked (I ordered it hot) but good flavor nonetheless. Service charge is applied automatically for groups of 6 or more, but the bill then includes additional tip suggestions from 15-20% which could trip up a less scrupulous person“

“We had lunch today at Thattu. It was bustling with almost every table full, but the tables have ample space between them and it wasn’t too loud. The beautiful exposed brick and huge windows cast a warm glow on the modern dining room. They nailed Indian flavors without being heavy or greasy, and the fun fusion dishes we tried, like Indian-spiced tater tots with sulfur salt and beet ketchup are well executed and a lot of fun. It would be easy to eat healthy at Thattu, and I enjoyed the vegetarian combo with vegetable curry, rice, beans, and sauteed Brussels sprouts with coconut. We also tried the fried chicken with dill sauce, and the catfish.Guests order through an app at Thattu, and the cost is inclusive of service. They don’t accept tips. At lunch, you grab your own flatware, napkins, and water from a bar in the dining room. We didn’t mind this. One particularly nice touch was that when we arrived, there were no tables available, and we agreed to sit at the bar. The host said he would let us know if a table became available, since sometimes guests cancel very close to their reservation time. Lucky for us, about 10 minutes after we arrived, the host brought us to a table. It was kind of him to remember our preference and work on that for us. Googling the restaurant later, I realized that the handsome host was co-owner Vinod Kalathil. He’s clearly a wonderful business owner who knows how to make his customers happy.Thattu2601 W Fletcher StreetChicago’s Avondale neighborhood“

“Wow, what a culinary journey at Chicago Indian Curry Restaurant! The moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere. The food, oh the food! It was a symphony of flavors, with each dish more delightful than the last. The appetizers were a great start, with the Masala Papad being a standout. Crisp, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, it set the tone for the rest of the meal. The Veg Samosa was decent, but didn't quite live up to the papad's standard. But then, the entrees arrived, and it was a whole new level of deliciousness. The Navratna Korma was a masterpiece - rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. The Daal Fry was equally impressive, with perfectly cooked lentils and a depth of flavor that left me wanting more.Unfortunately, the Butter Chicken didn't quite hit the mark. It was a bit too sweet and lacking in the rich, buttery flavor I've come to expect from this dish. But the breads, oh the breads! The Butter Naan was fluffy, lightly buttered, and perfect for sopping up all the sauces. The Laccha Paratha was crispy, flaky, and utterly addictive. And then, the piece de resistance - a complimentary Mango Dessert that was the perfect sweet treat to end“

Broccoli squash and Eggplant bao were average. But the Butter Chicken Calzone was BOMB. Kebab pizza was tasteful but felt low on toppings. We actually loved their take on Sambar Vada (Tamarind Dal) - perfect flavors. Was looking forward to trying the Chai Cake - but they were out. “My husband and I are transplants to Chicago as of 2019. Back home we had 3 regular spots we’d rotate thru. We were at 1 of them on any given week. We have been to dozens of Indian and combination eastern Asian Buffets all over town over the last 5 years. This one hands down takes the ‘W’Fresh at any time of the service (which is every day from open til I think 2/3 but don’t quote me on their hours). The Corn dish featured in the photos was the new favorite. They always have the usual suspects. Chicken Tikka, Veggie Kormas, Samosa. But…the Tandori, served on a sizzling skillet, and Naan are prepared fresh and delivered table-side. Not like other places that put them in a chafing dish and heat lamp to get soggy/dried out depending the heat application. The best part, I’ve saved for last. The service. I’ve been in the industry most of my life and appreciate hospitality professionals who have an attention to detail and guest experience.Sandet, our server, was attentive, but not overly so..,just right. We marveled to him about the corn dish, and he answered all the questions. He apparently overheard me when I told my husband I wish they’d had the Kafir out. Within moments there was a bowl of delicious rice putting set down in front of me. And that, my friends, is the difference between an order taking server and an industry pro.Don’t sleep on this place.“

“Moti Modern Indian Kitchen is bringing flare to Lincoln Park! I think their Modern Fusion Pizza restaurant is a great idea for this location. It's fun, fast casual Indian fusion that won't break your bank account. Great for the neighborhood and DePaul students! We tried the Sweet Chili Momo's steamed dumplings tossed in sweet chili sauce with green peppers and onions. They were nice and flavorful and I loved the texture. We also tried the Tikka Masala Curry with diced and marinated chicken in a spiced creamy curry served with a side of yellow rice. Super creamy and delicious and the chicken just melted in your mouth. And finally we tried the Masala Elote Pizza, palak pizza, and pepperoni pizza. All were delicious but the masala elote was our favorite! So many delicious flavors and textures on this pizza my taste buds were very happy! We washed everything down with freshly made mango lassis! So delish! “I recently dined at ROOH Chicago, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience that deserves a solid 5-star review! From the delectable food to the inviting ambiance, exceptional service, and perfect location, ROOH Chicago has it all. Let's start with the food. The culinary journey at ROOH is nothing short of exceptional. I kicked off my meal with the Pink City cocktail, which was a perfect blend of unique flavors and a great way to start the evening. The Chili Cheese Kulcha was a delightful appetizer that packed a flavorful punch, and the Sweet Potato Chaat was a wonderful explosion of textures and tastes. For the main course, the Bagara Baingan and the Bengali Lamb Shank truly stole the show. The Bagara Baingan was a flavorful vegetarian delight, while the Bengali Lamb Shank was fall-off-the-bone tender and rich in aromatic spices. These dishes showcased the diversity and depth of Indian cuisine. The saffron cheesecake for dessert was the perfect ending to an already outstanding meal. Its subtle saffron undertones and velvety texture left me craving more. The ambiance at ROOH is something to behold. The interior design is modern, yet it maintains a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is beautifully lit, creating a warm and welcoming environment that's perfect for a romantic dinner or a get-together with friends. The vibe at ROOH is trendy and sophisticated, making it a great place for special occasions or just a memorable night out. It strikes the right balance between elegance and comfort, making you feel at ease from the moment you walk in. Service at ROOH Chicago is top-notch. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and extremely courteous. They guided us through the menu, making excellent recommendations and ensuring our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable. The location of ROOH Chicago is also a plus. Situated in the heart of the city, it's convenient and easy to access, making it an ideal spot for locals and visitors alike. In conclusion, ROOH Chicago is a gem in the city's culinary scene. The food is exceptional, the ambiance is delightful, the vibe is chic, the service is impeccable, and the location is prime. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience that combines the best of Indian cuisine and modern elegance, ROOH Chicago is the place to be. I can't wait to return and savor their incredible dishes once again!“

“Hidden gem of Old Town!! I drive by this spot on the way to/from work and always see cars out front - finally stopped in last night and can see why. First of all, the place was filled at midnight with repeat customers which was a great sign. I was a little skeptical when I saw the prices on the menu as it was much more expensive than I expect from a counter serve restaurant, but when I tasted the food, I completely understood why. We had the daily special, the goat biryani, which was loaded with fall off the bone tender meat, flavorful sauce, and rice that was perfectly cooked. Our take out box was packed to the brim and we were easily able to split that meal into multiple leftover meals. I thought I may have just been extremely hungry the night before but even eating the leftovers today, I was blown away by the flavor. One of the best dishes that I've had. There was real texture in the curry which is refreshing considering how butter chicken is usually made for the Caucasian folk. Only problem I had was the chicken being a little dry. 3.9/5 Garlic Naan $4 for 2 pieces? The naan was good but not worth it for the price. “Tuk Tuk Indian was a great place to get some authentic Indian food. We went in there for lunch and got some nice dishes and the chicken and cheese paratha was THE dish for me. The Chole Bhature was good as well, might recommend some hot sauce for a tad more heat. They do have condiments and utensils available as well if you need them. Can’t forget about that mixed berry smoothie either! Make sure to stop by this place if you come to Chicago you won’t be disappointed!“

“Wow. When I took my first bite I said, out loud, “wow!” The food is incredibly flavorful and the dosas are each made fresh upon ordering (like crepes). I opted for the “Buffalo” dosa which was packed with textures and spices, made even more delicious by the sauce and “green gunpowder” spice they give you to add to taste. Everything on the menu is vegan and nut free, with many items gluten-free as well. Whatever your diet and tastes try this spot. They even have shakes and lassis and ice cream, which I will try next time as I was too stuffed from the dosa this time.Vegetarian options: Everything is vegan and nut free with many Gf options as well. A must-try!“

“In the heart of a city that pulsates with an eclectic mix of culinary traditions, there lies a gem that has quietly woven itself into the fabric of our lives. This isn't just any restaurant; it's our culinary sanctuary, a place we find ourselves drawn to almost bi-weekly, not just for the food, which in itself is a celebration of flavors, but for the warmth and generosity that greet us each time we step through its doors. The Paneer Bhurjee here is nothing short of a masterpiece. Each bite is a symphony of perfectly balanced spices and freshly crumbled paneer, a testament to the skill and passion that goes into its creation. The Naan, soft, fluffy, and always served piping hot, is the perfect companion to this dance of flavors. However, it is the Dal Makhani that truly embodies the soul of this place – rich, comforting, and simmered to perfection, it speaks of home, of tradition, and of an unwavering commitment to excellence. But what sets this establishment apart isn't just its exceptional culinary offerings. It's the owners – their unparalleled generosity and genuine warmth transform dining into an experience that transcends the ordinary. On occasions, they've even graciously covered our meal, a gesture of hospitality that is as rare as it is heartwarming. It's this blend of delightful cuisine and genuine human connection that anchors us to this place, compelling us to return time and again.Writing this review, I'm reminded of why we cherish this restaurant so deeply. It's a place that not only satiates our hunger but also nourishes our souls. For anyone seeking not just a meal but an experience woven with the threads of generosity, warmth, and exceptional culinary skill, look no further. This isn't just a restaurant; it's a haven, a place where every meal is a celebration of life's simple pleasures.“

Rishi Restaurant Indian •

“I can't say enough about how good the food has been from Rishi we discovered Rishi through a friend and, as Indians often do, were expecting the food to be somewhat similar to homestyle Indian but not exact. Boy were we wrong!! It was incredible in every way but here are some of the highlights for me - the pahadi goat curry and goat biryani are OUTSTANDING. As someone who still measures this against my Kashmiri grandmothers cooking- it's impressive to taste something that precise. I hope they keep refining these as they grow. The Tiger Prawn Moillee and Goan Fish Curry are also stellar dishes, each of them fresh and delicious served with fresh basmati (don't forget a side of sliced onions and lime) we've not gotten to try their Jackfruit biryani as yet and I look forward to going through the menu over cooler months.. thank you team for a comforting, true to home experience“
