“Small but mighty in flavor for both food and drinks The carne asada charo is nearly inexplicably good. Tender and a flavor explosion The orange colored medium salsa looks strange but you forget about that given the spice and in a few moments you just want to drink it The original margarita is a proper one with real lime juice. If you want a sweeter one opt for the house margarita Great family business serving up the best tacos. So simple, so fresh, so good so cal!“
“Went to El Guey for national margarita day. Pitcher of margarita was on point. 32 oz of deliciousness. Was able to mix flavors. Hat thr chicken fries. They were great. Service was a little slow but overall everything was great. Would reccomend this location.“
“Enjoyed a delicious meal here for lunch. Chips were light and crisp. Salsa was fresh and homemade and very flavorful. The tamales and enchiladas were fantastic! A limited menu but everything on it is wonderfully done. Big portions and so tasty. We will be back.“
“In a world where meaning is as fleeting as the foam on a wave, there lies a place where even that transient foam seems to crystallize into something almost tangible. La Fonda Restaurant, a speck on the vast, indifferent canvas of the universe, manages to capture a moment of culinary delight that borders on the absurd for its sheer audacity to exist and please. The Seafood Molcajete, a chaotic amalgam of marine life, succumbs to a harmony so profound that it mocks the very notion of discord. Each ingredient, seemingly insignificant on its own, unites in a symphony of flavors that challenges the palate's comprehension of pleasure. The Mexican guacamole, a simple concoction of crushed avocados and spices, transcends its humble origins. It stands as a testament to the beauty that can emerge from the most basic of elements, offering a fleeting reprieve from the inexorable march of time and the entropy it heralds. In the grand scheme, perhaps nothing matters. But within the walls of La Fonda, for a fleeting moment, the absurdity of seeking meaning in the void is forgotten, drowned in the depths of a molcajete and the simplicity of guacamole. Here, at least, there is flavor. And perhaps, in the end, that is enough.“
“Went here for a late dinner, best service ever. It was my first time and the employees were very patient with me! They were willing to explain different good items and ensured that I would like everything I ordered and I did! I’ll never eat chipotle or qdoba ever again ?“
“Stopped in here for some beers at the bar with friends. The place was a bit busy and they were very, very short staffed unfortunately. We waited longer than desired for things, but everyone was still very friendly. I would recommend, but cannot comment on the food.“
“I'm not sure the name of the two girls working the line tonight (11-27) but every single time I go to this location and they're working, my food and service is immaculate. They both smile and have such polite manners, but more importantly my order comes out perfectly everytime they are involved. Especially with the portions, it's always the perfect amount and everything spread out evenly. Can't say enough good things about either of them.“
“Authentic Mexican cuisine! Ordered the queso, house margarita and the burrito grande. So yummy!! I was seated and serviced very quickly. The restaurant has cute decor and music at an enjoyable level. This will be added to my list of places to return to next time I am in Edwardsville.“
