“This place is your classic home feeling diner. Nothing better than home cooking and that's what you'll get here.Kid-friendliness: What kid doesn't like pancakes? French toast and bacon? Of course, it's kid friendly.“
“4.5 stars overall. Ate here for an anniversary dinner and husband and I enjoyed our experience! - ambiance: it was nice and surprisingly quiet considering its under a train - service: staff were so kind. Service was pretty fast and efficient. - food: for appetizer we had the pan seared foie gras. While it was delicious, we did find the portion size small, especially if we compare to other restaurants that serve foie gras in a similar price point. I had the duck breast and my husband had the lamb and both were delicious! Flavors were there, it was cooked in medium rare, and even the side vegetables were good. For dessert we had the goat cheesecake and it was a surprise hit for us.“
“My husband and I have been stopping here for years whenever we made our drive in to visit Vogue Fabrics in Main. We have never been disappointed. Love the eclectic art and atmosphere. And the food is fresh and very good. Vogue Fabrics has since moved to warehouse location but son and his wife have moved into Evanston. So now this is our place to eat whenever we visit. Keep up the great work!“
“the shack is extremely reliable and everything is adequately good; i mean, nothing is outstanding, but it’s reliable, predictable, consistent and satisfyingly good. …and a good value. the rib tips are very good. the biggest plus is that they are open late and deliver.“
“Hecky's did not disappoint. We both ordered the brisket sandwich, which was huge! Plenty to enjoy. I tried both the regular and hot bbq sauce on the side and they were both great. We also enjoyed the baked beans and cole slaw, which were the perfect compliment to the lunch. My lunch companion also ordered the Juneteenth Strawberry Soda, which he let me try. It was delicious and reminded me of the red cream sodas I had growing up. Glad to be new regular at Hecky's.“
“Last week, my wife and I met another couple at Jilly's. I'd never been there before. Although the place was full, the service was fast, friendly and helpful. The food and wine were great. I had bouillabaisse, and it was large and perfectly done, with lots of shellfish and saffron. Prices were very reasonable. The decor was warm and welcoming. I will definitely be back.“
“We did not stay at The Graduate in Evanston, but met friends there for Sunday Brunch in The Homestead Room.In short: We are from out of town, but if we lived in Evanston or anywhere nearby, The Homestead room would be our new go-to spot for brunch, and we would be headed back tonight to try out the dinner menu.First of all, the service was impeccable. Dion Lane, Food and Beverage Supervisor, and the young man assisting him were amazing. Attentive, courteous, and thoughtful to the point of being surprising. The food was fabulous. My wife and I shared the Creamy Heirloom Grits and the The Brunch Madame. They were perfection. Our friends shared The Homestead Chilaquiles and French Toast and said the same thing. Finally, that atmosphere was cozy, warm, and inviting.I can't recommend The Homestead Room strongly enough.Food & drinks: We did not stay at The Graduate in Evanston, but met friends there for Sunday Brunch in The Homestead Room.In short: We are from out of town, but if we lived in Evanston or anywhere nearby, The Homestead room would be our new go-to spot for brunch, and we would be headed back tonight to try out the dinner menu.First of all, the service was impeccable. “I got the poke and one of their signature cocktails. The salmon poke was very fresh and has a good balance of flavors. We were able to get a table with some shade. It is great to be able to eat outside on the rooftop but also feel away from the street. They have an elevator to the roof and you can have a choice of chairs with arms and without. I forgot my phone when I left and they had it waiting for me at the bar downstairs after I called. Great service! We did get there about 3pm for dinner so it wasn't crowded.Wheelchair accessibility: There is an elevator at the back wall when you walk in on the ground floor. You will share the elevator with staff as they go to and from the kitchen to the roof top.“
“Menu is not overly complicated, but everything is creative and delicious. Don't miss: buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, stuffed tater tots, cauliflower, quinoa bowl, and south by northwestern salad, the local beer menu, among other things. Prices are high, so be sure you have time to sit and enjoy the atmosphere while you're there.Vegetarian options: Buffalo cauliflower, roasted cauliflower, quinoa bowl, South by northwestern salad, Chile rellenos, plus moreKid-friendliness: $10 kids menu, but everything is yummy“
“Deeee-licious!!! The short rib empanadas were flaky and flavorful. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The owner stopped by the table to complete the experience. The menu was very interesting--definitely going back.Parking: Pay parking right in front but two-hour free parking on the neighborhood streets right around the corner.“
“Food and service were excellent as always. If you order the key lime pie, request a garnish of fresh lime from the bar to squeeze over it and thank me later.I’m really here to complain about the elevator. The restaurant is located in the basement and stairs aren’t much fun for some people. If you have ever had to ride this elevator, then you can smell these pictures. A weird, oily mix of hot electrical equipment scent that any haunted house would be proud to feature in their electric chair room. The carpet is torn and a peeling trip hazard. The vent cover has been laying on the floor for six months.Do better.“
“Sarkis holds a special place in my heart as a cherished Evanston classic, and after three decades of patronage, it continues to be the epitome of breakfast perfection. While the ambiance has seen upgrades over the years, the magic lies in their timeless breakfast sandwiches that have stood the test of time. The classic breakfast sandwich at Sarkis is a symphony of flavors – from the perfectly cooked eggs to the crispy bacon and the melt-in-your-mouth cheese, each element is a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality. What sets Sarkis apart is not just the food, but the consistency with which they deliver a satisfying breakfast experience. As a long-time patron, I've witnessed the subtle enhancements that have elevated Sarkis without compromising its nostalgic charm. The friendly staff and quick service are additional reasons why Sarkis remains a breakfast haven for both locals and visitors alike.Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned regular, Sarkis manages to capture the essence of Evanston's breakfast culture. It's not just a meal; it's a tradition, and Sarkis continues to be the torchbearer of that tradition with its classic breakfast sandwiches that never fail to hit the spot. Here's to another 30 years of Sarkis and the timeless joy it brings to breakfast enthusiasts like me!“
“we hired the Fat Shallot food truck for my husband's 40th birthday. I cannot say enough good things. The food was excellent. The staff was attentive and kind. planning the event with Grace was such a pleasure. She was flexible and accommodating and made everything so easy for us. We would definitely use them again for a future event.“
“Our family loves Le Peep! It is such a happy place with a great menu and great service. I always feel such a sense of community when I’m there, too…like a big Evanston love fest! My 4-yr-old particularly likes the Funny Face pancakes and talks about them whenever we walk by;)If you haven’t been in awhile, GO! You’ll be happy you did. ???“
“I dropped by for the first time after work to grab a drink with my coworkers. While I cannot comment on the food, I had the best pomegranate mule ever. I will definitely be back for another mule and to try some of the food, as the menu looked great.“
“These guys are awesome, any time of the day. The food is on point like really on point. They are fast. The staff is kind. This is the best BWWGO ive been to. Please take care of them and tip. These places are hard to come by and the service is everything.“
“The place is very calm, but the Atmosphere is missing since there wasn't any music playing or anything that would give it a good feeling for wanting to celebrate something. Besides that everything else was good with the food which tastes amazing and if you want a taste of some of the things they have in their menu, I would recommend the smokehouse combo.“
“This has to be the best IHOP I have ever gone to. The food is delicious at this location. Put it this way if you have eaten at honey jam, yeah this IHOP is just as good or better. And I don't say that lightly. I even ordered a meal to go heated it up two days later, and oh my it was just as good as the one I ate at the restaurant. I'm eating here Everytime I go visiting family. Just wish they all were as good. The one off of Rt.59 & 75 St. was as good as it used to be. They need to get rid of their cooks. Just saying.“
“Old school hot dog hang-out. I grew up going to places like this In the suburbs, and I'm glad they are still relatively close together, even in the surrounding Chicago area. I can't believe people don't do the double-dog thing more often, Twice the meat and only a slightly elevated price. Felt like I got more Bang for my buck. Plus, the service was wicked fast and they are already putting out pumpkins for the fall holidays. It's 25 yd off the purple line and I was in and out in 25 minutes... Nice symmetry to it. I hear good things about the philly cheesesteak sandwich, will need to check that out. Going strong for 50 years And a good chunk of the history is displayed on the walls. I will definitely be back.?Vegetarian options: Honestly, this place is mostly meat and meat on top of meat... Perhaps they can modify some dishes, But these places really weren't built to cater to vegetarian pallets.Parking: I took the train, but it looks like you can park just about anywhere on the street, for a small fee.“
“Friendly staff. We were there for the Bulls game and they made sure we were able to view it from our seats. The food was good, but you could tell our plates sat in the expo window a little too long. I had to get a side of buffalo sauce to add to my buffalo sandwich because it was a little dried out. After that, it was very good!“
“I recently hosted a large party for my wifes birthday in downtown evanston, followed by an after party of approx. 40 people at Ridgeville Tavern. Ike reserved half the bar for my party, and since it was late night after his kitchen is closed, let me bring in a tray of wings from nearby. The atmosphere was perfect for the occasion, the service was great, and we all very much enjoyed hanging out, having a great time and closing down Ridgeville Tavern!! Thank you Ike and the staff at Ridgeville Tavern for helping us close out this amazing night!!“
“Worth every penny. Visited on a busy Saturday night, the service was impeccable. Acoustics in the dining room surprisingly good; the place was full yet you could have conversation at your table in normal speaking voice. Order the oysters. A great experience.“
