“The elephant has been a contributor to Thai society and its icon for many centuries.[1] The elephant has had a considerable impact on Thai culture.[2] The Thai elephant (Thai: ช้างไทย, chang Thai) is the official national animal of Thailand.“
“My friend and I came here for the first time and we were excited to try their signature dishes. We had Talay Pad Pong Karen, Signature Pad Thai, and Laab Moo Tod. The food came very quickly and it was amazing! This is a quaint little place and has a great vibe. I’ll definitely come here again.“
“Absolutely incredible place!! It's definitely the best sushi and Thai on the north side of Chicago. We usually go to Hot Wok Cool Sushi or other places further into the city. -Not after today! This place was fantastic. The service was great - they were so friendly. And the food and presentation was phenomenal. It blew away any place that we went to before. It's the first place that all 4 members of my family agreed was awesome. We will definitely be back soon!“
“Very clean and cute shop with wonderful service. The people were very polite and food was quick. I got the orange chicken and it was outstanding. A lot of place use a sugary/ fake tasting orange sauce, but Broccoli has a very authentic and delightful taste. Our appetizers were super good, too. I was in town for a convention but I'd happily drive the hour it takes to get there to eat at Broccoli again.“
“3rd time here and might have been the best. Friday night and it was buzzing. We were able to get bar seats and ate there, which was perfect. Live music, food was delish (braised chicken is just so delicious), and everyone on the service team is happy and helpful. This is a fav and we're thankful Evanston is the home of Nakorn!“
“I eat here often, the food is amazing. Any time I have friends over I suggest going here. They’ve all loved it as well. I think the owners appreciate how much I enjoy their food, and on occasion will surprise me with extra when I take it to go.Highly recommended!“
“First and foremost, the staff is hands down the best! Literally the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered! And I’ve tried a few things on the menu and nothing has been a let down. Usually I regret straying from “the usual” but I never do here. The crab rangoon is the best I’ve ever had, the wings surprised me with how tasty and well cooked they were, the basil chicken egg rolls were bomb (so is the basil chicken over rice), and the Khao Soi is a best seller for a reason!“
“This is a dope spot in lakeview that has a great vibe, with good cocktails and food. It has a low key vibe but still buzzing on the inside. Service is great and they make you feel right at home once you walk in. Food is good. I think I need to go back and try a few other selections. Tried their signature beef rib ramen and it was good I just might not be the biggest fan of soup type dishes. The rib didn’t have that much flavor to me but was still good ramen. What I loved most was the Smoked brisket chow mein and the Short ribs. They were amazing. We tried their meatballs and I do not recommend them. Completely overcooked. Shrimp wontons were Fire tho!! I will forsure be back to explore their menu more. Definitely check this spot out! Highly Recommended!!“
“Beautiful interior, delicious food, attentive staff, and fast service. We dined in on a Sunday afternoon and very much enjoyed our experience. We started with the Finger Combo. I tried the crab rangoon and crispy rolls which I thoroughly enjoyed. The only note I have is that it comes with a tiny cup of sweet and sour sauce. The dish could definitely use a bigger serving of sauce to complement all the yummy fried finger foods! The pineapple shrimp curry was perfectly sweet and creamy with a hearty helping of rice. My mom said the Pad Si Ew was tasty, loved the presentation as well. My boyfriend ordered the Basil Fried Rice which packed a spicy kick but was super flavorful. We are excited to have a new Thai place in our repertoire!“
“I’ve gone here multiple times and done takeout multiple times. It is honestly a favorite neighborhood gem. The service when dining in is truly great and some of the best in Lakeview!! The food is always consistent and the atmosphere is quite adorable…great for friends or date night - either way! Thank you to the staff! A young gentleman was our server twice and he was phenomenal.Favorites: Shanghai Lo Mein & Mongolian Beef“
“I have an allergy to garlic which is kinda hard to work around at times but the staff basically told me that they will make anything I want work. Super nice and the food was fantastic! Definitely give it a try!Dietary restrictions: If a thai place can work around garlic they can work around anything.“
“One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago! The chicken satay and Panang curry are to die for. My boyfriend has celiac and we’ve eaten here probably 50+ times and he’s never been glutened. So nice that he can eat delicious food and feel safe.Dietary restrictions: My boyfriend has celiac and we’ve probably eaten here 50+ times and he’s never been glutened, even when I order something with gluten in it for myself. It’s so nice that he can feel safe eating here!“
“We hosted our daughter's 16th birthday party here. We were a group of 12 people.Chef Patty went above and beyond in communicating with us before the event to make it special for my daughter and her friends. This is the best Thai restaurant in Chicago, hands down.We also were happy to get excellent service and food.Super nice people and restaurant. Highly recommend it.“
“I planned on going to dinner there last night (Tuesday) and we found great parking, walked to the restaurant and sadly found out it was closed. As we were about to turn around, Anna appeared and invited us in and cooked dinner.... what other owner would be so generous with her own personal time? We had an incredible evening, great food and the compassion of Anna and her concern for her customers makes us keep going back....Anna's Thai Kitchen deserves a "10." It is my favorite Thai restaurant and every different dish I have ordered has been phenomenal for the quality, freshness and incredible flavor. Anna's restaurant is her heart; she only serves food that she loves! Her menu and her food come from her heart.... open your heart and share in her love!“
“We live very close by and were so excited to discover we have one of the tastiest Thai spots in the city within walking distance. Only give the atmosphere 4 stars because it's a teeny tiny restaurant but it's comfortable and when the weather is nice, their patio is cute! But we typically do takeout since it's so easy and close by. The owners and everyone who works there has always been friendly and kind. Highly recommend.Vegetarian options: Many dishes - noodles and curry - offer a selection for the type of protein so many can be made vegetarian with choosing the option of either tofu or just vegetables.Kid-friendliness: Friendly and allowing of children. My 3 year old daughter loves the chicken satay!“
“A Cozy Culinary Gem: Delights and Comfort at Chim Thai CuisineThe warmth and inviting atmosphere immediately set the stage for what was to be a memorable dining experience. Nestled in a cozy corner, this restaurant is a haven for Thai cuisine enthusiasts and foodies alike, offering a blend of traditional flavors and a homely ambiance. The Chicken Satay, a dish that stood out for its perfectly grilled texture and the harmonious blend of spices that permeated the tender chicken strips. Served with a side of rich, creamy peanut sauce, each bite was a delightful journey through the vibrant tastes of Thailand.Next on the table were the Pork Rolls, which were nothing short of exceptional. The pork filling was succulent and flavorful, complemented by a dipping sauce that added a tangy and slightly sweet note, making each bite irresistible. The highlight of the evening, however, was the Pork and Wonton Noodle Soup. The noodles, cooked to perfection, tied the whole dish together, making it a profoundly satisfying experience. The restaurant exudes a cozy charm, with its warm lighting and thoughtfully arranged decor, creating an inviting space that complements the dining experience beautifully.I will definitely comeback!“
“The food is outrageously good and the man at the counter (guessing he is the owner) is wonderful. He’s helpful and welcoming and just a pleasure to deal with. I’m so glad I took a chance. I’ve got lots of decent Thai around me and the menu is a bit different here. Everything I’ve had has been so good.“
“Ever since they opened we go out of our way to frequent this place. We have other Thai places within walking distance from our condo but a short drive yields better quality Thai food and wonderful service. Ambiance: The place is super clean which is a plus. If the front of the house is immaculate, I would think the kitchen is the same. The food is amazing. Tiger Cry is amazing and they give a nice size portion compared to other places. Sweet/savory marinated thin slices of beef char-grilled is wonderful. Don't hesitate on the fried shumai- Fried shrimp shu-mai, served with light sweet and sour sauce. Awesome finger food. You can't go wrong with any of the curry dishes. This last round we had the Gaeng Masaman - Masaman curry and potatoes sauteed in coconut milk with peanuts and chicken. Great flavor. So many selections but all have been great! I love the fact you can choose the level of spiciness for each dish depending on your preferences. We go full-tilt hot as hell spicy and it does not disappoint! Pricing is a bit lower than your average Thai places and portions are more generous. 3 dishes for 2 people yields leftovers! Owner is friendly and I can tell he loves what he does and is looking out for the diners. This is the place you want to make sure thrives. Go pay them a visit.“
“Quiet hole in the wall place. Worth every penny and definitely coming back. Satay chicken was perfect, tender and juicy and the sauce on the side is essentially peanut butter with coconut milk. The Nong Thong were fried extra crispy and are really hot when served, definitely wait a minute before grabbing and it comes with sweet chilli sauce, but the sweet chilli sauce is the stuff you can get at the store. Their salad has a nice light vinaigrette on it. Their Tom Yum soup is sour, threw us off initially and if you get it medium heat, it's really spicy and the spice coats everything. The pineapple fried rice is a really large serving, almost seems likes it's supposed to be shared by the table. Again, medium heat is pretty spicy, but on the pineapple fried rice it's a slow build and it lingers for a long time. That being said, the spice is only in the mouth and doesn't burn the stomach.Vegetarian options: Lots of tofu or imitation meat optionsDietary restrictions: Can be veganParking: Parking is a crap shootKid-friendliness: Easy with the spice level, medium is not for beginnersWheelchair accessibility: First floor, no steps“
“My fiancee and I are here after work at Loyola, and it was DELICIOUS. I had Pad Thai, and Sue had something else (my bad for not remembering). A five minute walk north from Loyola. BYOB, and no cork fee. We will definitely be going back soon.Vegetarian options: They can make any dish vegetarian.“
“Very cozy asian-style noodle spot!I ordered a beef pad thai for lunch. The food was good, but it wasn’t until I added fish sauce and chili at home where all the flavors came out and molded together! I wish I asked for the condiments in-person. The beef was more on the hard side though, I wish it was softer. The portion was bigger than I expected but was the perfect size. I would love to come back and try other noodle dishes on the menu.In terms of service, I was greeted with smiles by the hostess doubling as a server as I walked in the door. Very attentive and very kind. She knows her customers very well. The food came out quick and I was able to get a good meal in while I was in-between classes. The music was great it contributed to the ambiance. I loved the fact that I could also hear the wok sizzling in the background as they were cooking.Parking: There’s a side street that’s not paid but it’s difficult to find parking. Sheffield is paid parking.“
“So glad we found this place. Landed in Chicago from Hawaii and was greeted by snow all day. Looking for comfort food, we found this place. Wonderful staff and I believe he was the owner, made us feel so welcome. The ramen was great and so was the Thai food. Highly recommend. Much aloha to the staff there. The flower girls!“
“This is my go-to spot for Thai food in the city. A frequent takeout fave but also excellent for dine-in. It's always delicious with generous portions. The staff are consistently welcoming and attentive.Dietary restrictions: Many gluten-free options, clearly labeled on the menu.“
“Rainbow Thai Cuisine Rainbow Thai Cuisine a family owned and operated business. Rainbow Thai Cuisine serves amazingly delicious authentic Thai dishes. We like to place our orders online and select Express Pickup or Delivery. Their online order service is a time saver. We enjoy their take-out options. Best of all, they are open 6-days a week. We enjoy starting with a Thai Ice Tea followed by an appetizer before we enjoy our main dish. The basil leaves beef was recommended to us by the owner. The meal service was quick and the food containers did not leak while holding the steaming food. The meat was tender, the vegetables were fresh, and the sauce had the right heat. The owners remember repeat customers. OrderRainbowThaiCuisine.…“
“I am absolutely obsessed with this place. The shrimp spring rolls are fantastic and I will be ordering the Khao Soi Gai every week for the foreseeable future. It is incredible!! I tried it for the first time last night (having never tried Thai curry) and oh my god. It’s sweet, savory, the chicken is great, and the noodles are perfect! I had my 8 month old try a bite and he loved it too!! The papaya salad is also super good! I will absolutely be ordering from here again next week. Thank you!!“
“I love Hello Thai so much! Their food is tasty, fresh, and most of all affordable. Some of my favorites include the fried rice, papaya salad, and crab ragoon! The service is also wonderful, the staff is so attentive and sweet. Check out their lunch special, it is such a great bang for your buck and always hits the spot.“
“We ordered take out for the first time and it truly is out of this world! We were able to try *so* many dishes without spending an arm and a leg. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. We are immediate fans and cannot wait to make this part of our list of regulars! THANK YOU!!!!“
“We ordered delivery and called ahead to see if there were vegan items available and the woman I spoke with was great! She was very helpful and even called me back when I ordered something that wasn't vegan and switched my order for me to a special item she made--taro bean fritter--that was delicious! Everything was delicious and I've had non vegan friends say the same. I highly recommend this place! The food is excellent and the service is the best!!Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options and they are very accommodating to vegans also.“
“The people were so friendly, very talkative..it reminded me of how Greek families of old ran their own businesses. The food is amazing in look, style presentation and taste. Alot of selections and the first time I tried the coconut ice cream with strawberries my tongue was in love. Love this place.“
“I really loved my experience here! I ordered the fried rice and a crab & cheese (crab rangoons) and it was all very delicious. The service was really good too. I feel like places that are a smaller dining-in area can be intimidating, especially when we were the first party to be sitting in there tonight. But since we were confident and content, it really made for no big deal and there were many others who came in for dine-in/carry-out while we were there.“
“This was first visit and I am impressed with the food. Ordered ginger chicken and summer rolls. Both very good. Prices are reasonable and they have seating inside for dining in. I will be back! I am excited to try some more dishes. The people are also very nice and great service. As a side note, they do not serve any wine/beer/cocktails.“
“Real Thai is the best authentic Thai food in the Chicagoland area. They have a secret Thai menu that offers items not found elsewhere. The beef tendon soup is unmatched anywhere. The tendon is like eating bone marrow, extraordinarily tender. Careful on the heat scale, 4 or 5 is pretty spicy and I make me own chilli oil with Thai red chili peppers. Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.“
“This place was absolutely fantastic! We dined in and got the chive dumplings, green curry with chicken and the cashew chicken and rice. We came in with zero expectations as we were taking a walk around town when we got here and the smell alone drew us in for dinner. The service was stellar, kept joe rob the waters and super attentive but not too much at the same time. It was a very intimate spot, not much seating so if you tend to struggle with sensory issues try to come when not busy or get it to go. The food was so fresh and PACKED with flavor. Really felt like it was the warm respite we needed on a rainy evening. Highly recommend.“
“This evening marks the first time I had an opportunity to visit this cozy, family owned Thai restaurant. It's an incredible value for your money ? and I decided on the Thai iced tea, jasmine rice and huge wonton dinner soup ?The staff here is extremely lovely and helpful and the setting is soothing and relaxing.Right after I finished paying a crazy, homeless man barged in here and started breaking things but the owner was very calm and lead him out the door. I've never seen something ? so crazy before in this neighborhood and I think everyone here handled the incident extremely well considering the chaos.I will definitely come back in the near future to try the other dishes and soups ?I can vouch that the food here is extremely tasty and authentic Thai.“
“The ambiance, staff, and food remain exceptional. The surprise birthday celebration was highlighted by the chef. A wonderful experience nestled in an unlikely place. This is my third or fourth visit with consistency over decades.Dietary restrictions: Let staff know in advance. They were great with the lactose intolerant guest.“
“I recently had Ruk cater an event and they were amazing to work with- the food is great, they were SO accommodating, and created beautiful sushi trays within my budget. In addition to ordering take out and dining in, I will absolutely be using them for catering again!“
“Went here today with my family.. 4 kids involved… i have to say this place knocked it out of the park. The woman serving us could not have been nicer & more helpful with the kids . The food was great, reasonable prices, clean, great lunch special. We live in the neighborhood and i’m so happy to have found our neighborhood spot!! I also loved how many options they had for veggies rolls!“
“Absolutely amazing. I was blown away by the flavor. Like no other Thai food that I have experienced. Beyond 5 stars. I was spellbound. If you like Thai food, you need to give this place a try. It's a shame I don't live in Chicago, because I find myself daydreaming about it and wanting to fly across a quarter of the country JUST to eat here!“
“I recently dined at this delightful Japanese/Thai fusion restaurant, and it was a flavor-packed experience. The Spicy Creamy Tom Yum Noodle broth was rich, tangy, and had just the right amount of heat. The egg noodles were perfectly cooked, and the fragrant aromatics—garlic, chilies, and kaffir lime leaves—elevated the dish. And fav dish was Yakiniku don. The savory-sweet yakiniku sauce tied everything together. It was comfort food at its finest. The Beef Tongue was our adventurous choice. Thinly sliced and grilled, it had a unique texture—tender but slightly chewy. The marinade was flavorful, and the hotstone grill made it even more enjoyable (10/10 for this dish!!)“
“If my childhood was a restaurant, it would be this place. Nothing like eating fried rice surrounded by baseball memorabilia and toys with Thomas the tank engine playing on the TV (I'm not joking, it was). Service was really good and the owner was incredibly friendly. Just remember that they take CASH only, but I think they have an ATM so it's no biggie.“
“Came in for a quick dinner before the gym and they greeted me with kindness and quick service. I got the drunken noodles with tofu and halfway through forgot I had gotten tofu! The tofu was so well seasoned and prepared that I honestly thought I had gotten meat (I’m flexitarian meaning I eat meat but minimal amounts)! It had the perfect amount of spice (I got medium) and was the perfect amount of filling but not stuffed.“
“My partner and I absolutely love this place! This is our go to restaurant for special occasions and we’ve never had anything less than a spectacular experience. The staff are super nice and the service is always great. The food is fantastic. The sushi is always excellently prepared and delicious and the entrees are equally excellent. We recommend the Singapore noodles, Pad Kee Mao, Yindee, Bangkok noodles, the Red Dragon Roll, the Volcano roll, and the Unagi Nigiri“
“I love this place!! The owners are so sweet and kind and the food is delicious!! The customer sitting next to us was talking about how much she loves this place and how the prices are so much better than any other Thai restaurant in that area! I recommend this place 100%??“
“Hello to all who read this review. It pains my heart to leave this review. This restaurant use to be one of my favorites, but since the old owners are no longer running things I have to say that my recent visit was a waste of money. I ordered some soup and basil egg rolls and the egg rolls tasted like frozen food, the chicken inside of the rolls were very dry with no taste to it. I didn't taste the basil like I use to, I didn't finish it, I tossed it out. The soup was not like I'm accustomed to. Wasn't sour at all, wasn't spicy at all, and too many DAMN mushrooms in it!. I was furious and through all of it out. Stick a fork in me I'm done with Ben's noodles.“
“I will always be grateful to Yasotorn for taking my order right before closing on a weekday night. I had a long day at work and called in 15 minutes before they close at 9pm. The server who answered my call was very friendly and said that I can still place an order.I recommend trying their Hoi Tod – Thai omelette with mussels and beansprouts. The accompanying sauce paired well with the omelette. If you're looking for good, reliable Thai food with some unique options and friendly customer service, I recommend visiting Yasotorn.“
“My son and I had such a relaxing lunch here. I was moved to post about the family friendly atmosphere and especially the staff! The two women working there were so engaging and delightful with my six year old. I loved my stir fried sole rice bowl and they accommodated my gluten sensitivity by using only fish sauce. My son devoured his shrimp potstickers which was amazing since he normally will only eat chicken potstickers. Something about the vibe there. Just lovely!Dietary restrictions: Gluten sensitivity optionsKid-friendliness: So kind and engaging and delighted to interact with my 6yo son.“
“Over the years, Indie Cafe has been amazingly kind and thoughtful in their service, and their food preparations and presentations always go above and beyond all of my expectations. From quadruple-checking whether or not a menu item is gluten-free, to recommending the best wine/sake pairings for an entrée, their staff have always ensured that I've left their restaurant knowing that I was appreciated as a customer. And welcomed as a friend. Maya is hands-down one of the most excellent servers I've had the pleasure of dining with. She always goes above and beyond with her level of professionalism and attention, and her personality is lovely as well! Given the quality of their sashimi, the creativity behind their menu, and the warmth in their hearts? I look forward to dining with them for many years to come.“
“Ordered on Grub Hub. Their wings (5 total pieces) were really tasty. Steamed dumplings (4 total pieces with no meat) were decent – they were a bit bready. I was pleasantly surprised with the portions of the Pad Kee Mao and Orange Chicken though! The Orange chicken was too orangey. The Pad Kee Mao (with chicken) was good and had a nice amount of veggies.“
“This is the best Thai food I have ever had! Definitely the best Thai food in Chicago. The service is fantastic. You need to get the crispy pad Thai! The tamarind chicken wings are also to die for! The drunken noodles and the duck pad see ew are also a hit. 10/10 the service is amazing“
“Very sweet little place that appears to be run by a family. The food was hot and fresh. Our party had one vegan, one gluten free and one picky eater. The restaurant was able to accommodate everyone and knew the menu contents very well. I am looking forward to returning soon.“
