I moved from Highland Park many years ago and hadn't been back to Max's until a couple weeks ago with a cousin visiting from CO who wanted a Jewish deli corned beef sandwich. I'm so pleased to say Max's has remained top notch over the years! Best Rueben anywhere! The potato pancakes were done perfectly and served with applesauce and sour cream, as they should be. Sometimes you expect the bare minimum and then there are those who are Extra and always give more. Max's was quite full when we came in a Saturday afternoon but they found a table for us. They immediately bring you glasses of ice water, some of their deli pickles and an overflowing basket of bagel chips, breads and butter. TBH you could just eat these and be full and leave. Tried this place on the fly, amazing hot pastrami and hot corn beef. Not sure why anyone complained about the service, the service top notch. Bagel slices were great. We will be back! So good!
