We have never been disappointed at the Eastgate. The food is really delicious, and the entertainment on certain nights is a great addition. It's independent and local and there is nothing not to like.
What a local gem this place is! I feel so silly admitting that I have lived in the area for over 20 years and I've never been inside this place. They have been on Harrison in the Arts District for around 12-15 years and I've never had a interest to go in and I can't tell you why. No specific reason, but I am so glad my mom decided to come here on a Friday evening for their live jazz set. I really enjoyed it. Wow! First time here and what a gem! I was fortunate to stop by when they had live music, the Sam Robinson Quintet, who were recording a live jazz album. I had the baked pasta which was delicious accompanied by a wonderful Pinot Noir. This whole Arts neighborhood of Oak Park is a must visit area and Eastgate Cafe is one of its highlights.
