“Arriving with uncertain expectations, I was pleasantly surprised by the delectable freshness of the food. The Philadelphia Roll featured incredibly fresh and delicious salmon, truly amazing! The spicy miso soup was equally delicious, providing a mind-blowing culinary experience.“
“Amazing food. This restaurant has the HIGHEST quality salmon (sake) in the Chicagoland area. The portions are generous, and the freshness is unmatched. Service is quick! Ambiance is what you'd expect for a small sushi restaurant. 11/10, I'd highly recommend the Sake Don!“
“Sushi Para is a fantastic surprise! From the outside, you might not expect much, especially being on a busy street like Dundee. But wow, once inside, the sushi is amazing. For just $16.99, you can eat all the sushi you want, and it’s all so fresh and delicious. I loved everything from the miso soup to the sushi rolls. Despite the simple look of the place, the food quality is top-notch because they keep everything super fresh. It’s a great deal for such tasty food. I gave them five stars and can’t wait to visit again with my family. Everyone should try SushiPara!“
“This place is a hidden gem. It's not much to look at but dont be fooled! The sushi is fresh and delicious. I ordered a seaweed salad, salmon roll, and a dragon roll on my last trip. The seaweed salad is a bit small, but very tasty. It comes garnished with sesame seeds. The salmon roll was fresh and better quality than other places in this area. The dragon roll had a perfect balance of roll, sauce and eel. Generally I do not like to order eel because it is very easy to screw up but this roll was perfect. I will add pictures on another trip. If you are considering going definitely try this place out. You will not be disappointed!“
“Last time I had sushi was well over 15 years ago. Times change, appetite, and eating habits change so here I am. My wife enjoys sushi and has been here a few times and enjoys their rolls. I do enjoy food in the teriyaki family and I get this fix at a few other restaurants in town. The interior of the restaurant is inviting and it was strange being back in the former Peapod restaurant location. We ordered the crab ragoon, gyoza, chicken teriyaki roll, scorpion roll, Godzilla roll, and the beef teriyaki entree. Both appetizers were good but pretty standard. I tried a few rolls and it's still not for me. I believe the seaweed wrap is what I don't like. The filling is good though. My wife enjoyed every bite of it. The beef teriyaki comes with salad, rice, and miso soup. I don't particularly like miso soup but this one was slightly different in a good way. I enjoyed the simple salad as well. Now when I ordered the beef I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked which is not unusual. When I received the beef it was too blue in my opinion. I'll eat beef anyway outside of raw but typically I like my beef medium. The sauce and vegetables were good and I still ate the beef. For drinks I stuck with water but my wife had a mango smoothie that was quite tasty. The employees were attentive and definitely hustling so I appreciate that. I would go back and get the chicken teriyaki (hopefully it's not pink) and let my wife enjoy the sushi rolls. 4 stars because everyone I know that has come here for the sushi raves about it.“
“My friends and I went a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered kimbap, tteokbokki, and spicy ramen and everything was absolutely delicious. The server and owner were so kind and attentive. We are planning to visit again. Give this place a try!“
“this was our third time at kaido, and it never disappoints! the fish is so fresh, the sauces are delicate but flavorful, and the rolls are amazing. and the interior is cozy and beautifully decorated.we've been to many sushi restaurants in chicago and suburbs, and kaido is definitely one of the best, most creative, and freshest sushi in the area. this has become our go-to sushi place, and we highly recommend it!our favorites are: kenchin jinro soup, aloha roll, hamachi truffle roll, and the hamachi carpaccio in the omakase. the omakase was also amazing and filling. honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu!“
“I ordered a half order of the black dragon, which is a specialty maki. The ratio and texture of the rice were ideal. The outside became charred, resulting in a grill-like appearance and scent to the brittle eel meat. The black fish eggs scattered on the maki gave it a peculiar texture, and the tobiko's color fit the theme. What a welcome appetizer for me.I ordered their lunch special salmon bento box for my main course. Every section has distinct protein, carbohydrates, and vegetables. Perfectly cooked salmon was topped with shredded fried potatoes, and a stir-fried mixture of veggies with a teriyaki sauce. The gyoza had a tasty filling and a crunchy outside. Since the bento box included miso soup and salad, I believe they should replace the cabbage salad with something else. The food was tasty and substantial.“
“Wow this place is a gem! My husband and I came here last night and got the Godzilla roll, salmon sunset roll, and two different kinds of ramen. Everything was SO delicious and the sushi tasted incredibly fresh. The lady and gentleman that seemed to be running the place are the NICEST individuals. I wish I would’ve taken a picture of the food, but we ate it too fast. This place is almost 40 mins for us, but it’s definitely worth the drive, we agreed it would be our go to sushi spot from now on. See you again soon!“
“I’ve been here more than my bank account or I would care to admit… but it’s worth every penny and 30 minute drive one way. The staff are one big family, and they prepare your food in less than a few minutes. I recommend anyone who loves fresh raw fish, many sides, and a full belly to eat here. I’ll take a Deluxe Ahi Tuna Bowl with extra spicy Mayo every time.“
“I read and read reviews and most of them comment about how it's not the most appealing looking restaurant on the outside, but once you walk inside-it changes the atmosphere. It's cute little quaint restaurant. The food is incredible, and the presentation is beautiful as well. Very well done. We ordered the veggie tempera (delicious), as well as the YAYA, Five Star, Windy City and Philadelphia Roll with fresh salmon, it was delicious. Will definitely come back..“
“It’s a top notch Place for a good sushi, my kids love them so much, even though they didn’t like sushi before I ordered from different places. 10 stars, way to go & thank you so much for a yummies you made for us❤️ As a regular customer I am super satisfied with this restaurant!“
“I was hesitant to start writing, since I wanted to keep the place all to myself! But this would not be fair, so here goes my review. First, consider my vocabulary of superlatives to be already exhausted by previous reviewers. Second, these are the facts: we ate there twice in one week: we had a dinner and then immediately scheduled an omakase. Both time it was a life-changing experience. I kid you not! The sushi dinner was probably the best I ever had this side of the Pacific and this deep inland. In a 'regular' sushi place all sushis taste, well, like the defrosted raw fish with soy sauce. Not chef's Jino's! Each piece was different, complex, and exciting. The omakase performance was on par with a multi-Michelin-star restaurant I've ever been to with the difference being the absence of the usual hits or misses - hits only, be it a souffle, or sashimi, or filet. The host and waiter Danny was helpful and knowledgeable. And the place itself was pretty close to my ideal of a modern upscale restaurant - sleek, contemporary, and yet cosy. To the detriment of my convenience, I can only wish the place to have a month-long waiting list soon enough!“
“We've been frequenting another great Sushi restaurant in Schaumburg for a while; wanted to try something new for a change.Ambience is modern. Service was great. Food presentation was top-notch, but we felt, it lacked 'flavor'. Something about it - it had all the familiar ingredients and yet something was missing.Prices were reasonable. They have the a-la-carte and all you can eat options. We tried both. They have reduced price for kids' all you can eat option as well....which is nice. I will give it another shot and try some different items.“
“I gave 2 stars for atmosphere, because it’s only 2 tables in there. I see people eat in there but It’s not a restaurant …it’s pick up sushi little shop. Owners making them right in front of you and put box of sushi on the shelf and you can pick whatever you like. Sushi looks very good put together great taste , like in high end restaurant. Famous little shop for local, a lot of people in and out. Highly recommend if you in Lincolnshire area.“
“Well, I came here for many times and didn't have a chance to write a review for this restaurant. It is located in a small plaza right off Higgins and Lively. The staff were friendly and quick service. One thing I love about this restaurant is the daily specials just $12. Every day they have different offers for their daily specials. The food was worth compared with the prices you paid. I would love to come back here to try their daily specials.“
“Hidden Gem… my sister, daughter and I were out shopping when we drove past this restaurant. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating. Everything was delicious and amazingly prepared. This place was a 10/10 and we can’t wait to return.“
“We visited this restaurant for my wife's birthday. The atmosphere was ok with attempts to make it look authentic Japanese. There's a small fish pond in the middle of the restaurant and cozy sunken booths to get that seated on the floor vibe. We came for sushi and were not disappointed. It was all fresh and seemed very authentic. Many places make sushi but Daruma's sushi seemed somewhat different... stepped up. The fish pieces on the Nigiri were larger. We tried some different pieces and there were Maki combinations that were fresh and different than the norm. My only complaint about the place was that it was either under construction or was just a bit run down. When you first walk in there were things piled into the corner of the bar area, there was a space heater in the middle of the room we were seated in to warm it up, and the bathroom was very rundown and in need of a makeover... fresh paint and an overall cleanup. The place needed a good dusting. Aside from the cosmetic issues, the food was excellent and well made. For my wife's birthday, they brought her out some green tea cheesecake that was very good. It was a nice end to a nice evening.“
“We came here once before. This visit was during lunch. We didn’t know they had a lunch special starting at $9.95 depending on the protein you select. This is one of the most delicious Thai food restaurants I visited and I had visited many. We ordered the pekimao with beef and the of Thai with chicken. Everything was done very nicely with flavor and not over cooked. The drunken noodle was a little spicy but within my tolerance. They also add small appetizers such as egg rolls and fried tofu which makes the meal even more worth paying. Everything was great. I wish they would update their floors but other than that it was great!“
“Great place off the beaten path. Stumbled on this place while driving through and all were happy with the food court in the back. Authentic Asian offerings served quickly in a relaxed atmosphere. We will certainly stop in again when coming through the area.“
“Absolutely delicious Japanese food. You can order at the counter (they’ll bring it to you) or you can order on your phone and leave a tab open (and close out at the end). We got a meal set with shio mackerel and katsu with ponzu, udon, edamame, and a large katsu curry. Everything was delicious and authentic. The prices are great for the portions and quality. If this place were near us in the city, we’d be in trouble. #curryeveryday“
“Went here on a Friday night recently for the first time with a friend. The host and the waitress made sure that my first experience would be unforgettable. We received delicious appetizers on the house. Service was probably the best service I've received in a really long time. And most importantly the food was delicious and fresh. Staff put so much effort into their service and food. It was refreshing to have such a positive experience at a local restaurant for a change. Will be back again soon!“
“This place is legit. We came here for the Korean Sashimi experience. I wasn't expecting much since this place is in a pretty unassuming strip mall but the quality of the fish is what did it for me. I believe the owner buys an entire tuna and expertly slices different parts himself. I had the best tasting sashimi here. And as much fish as I have had in my life I found myself asking the waitress what part of the tuna I was eating. First time trying Tuna jaw meat and it was astounding. The amount of toro grade tuna that was served amazed me. Service was a bit slow but with high quality fresh fish that they serve all was forgiven. 5 stars all the way.“
“Food and service was amazing!Haven't been here for awhile. So sad they got rid of there all you can eat but totally understand why due to cost of food and inflation. As long as there service doesn't suffer, I appreciate them being around.“
“First time here last week and last night (2/23/2024), we came back and dined with friends. There were 9 of us in the group. Food was delish! We had diff types of sushi, ramen, gyoza, edamame, and Taiyaki with vanilla ice cream for dessert. All were delish and brought to our table quickly. The place was clean and staff were efficient. We sat on the part of the restaurant where you sit on the floor while you eat. We enjoyed the authentic Japanese dining set-up. They have various Japanese beer and wine, and dessert options as well. Prices are slightly higher than other Japanese restaurants nearby (Ari Sushi in Des Plaines & Sushi Nikko in Arlington Heights) but we can deal with it because of the efficient service. I think this becoming one of our fave sushi places.“
“To the person who said slow service, there is only 3 people who work there, they are working hard trying to feed a full dining room, i love this restaurant i have been coming here since i was a baby, literally, they have great service, great food, for a great price, if your willing to pay the price they will give you excellent service, this place is a home to me, they have become my family, i wish all of the staff the best of luck and a good bright future.Vegetarian options: They have gluten free soy sauce and imitation crab so im sure theres alot of stuff people can haveDietary restrictions: They offer gluten free soy sauce and it is awesome! They are also super clean without any cross contamination!Parking: Behind the catlow!“
“This place has a good ambience and nice drinks. My wife loved her drink( fire and ice). Food was good, their rack of lamb was delicious but their chicken fried rice missed something ( some spices I guess) and was OK. Sushi rolls were too good to Not miss. Veg pot stickers are also good. Service was good.“
“Royce chocolate and cookies is located inside of mitsuwa along with several high end vendors and shops. Royce doesn't disappoint. Paris was extremely helpful and went over all of the offerings that Royce had. I ended up getting the variety pack because I couldn't make up mind. Great gifts for the adventurous tongue and even for someone with a sweet tooth. The have adorable pink gift bags to make it for a quick pick up. I absolutely recommend the fromage blanc chips, they are delicious and daring at the same time!“
“Holy cow that was really good. Won’t be a weekly regular, prices are a bit high (but I’m also a stingy jerk). My wife and I shared Tataki Tuna ( my favorite) wildfire (my wife’s favorite), the King Kong and Viagra- yes they have a roll called Viagra. They were all fantastic, but with 2 glasses of wine and a Edamame appetizer it left a $140 hole in my bank account. Either way, I’m sure we’ll be back for an occasion.“
“They all know me as soon as I walk in the door! Wendy and her husband are great as well same with the servers !! Great all you can eat I can never go to another sushi restaurant since I’ve discovered this place never cheating on oishi again with another sushi “
“Typically I give this place all 5 stars but had to only give 4 stars for the service. The place was busy as usual, but one meal did not come until 20 mins after everyone else was done eating. They kept saying another 5 mins. Don't get me wrong the sushi is great and I will be coming back, but it would have nice if they offered us a discount or a free dessert.“
“Honestly was a little nervous when I saw how little people there was and how extensive their menu was. We only got the golden shrimp (appetizer) and sushi items. So nothing from the grill side. But everything we got tasted really really good. Would like to go back when the terrace is open because I feel like the ambiance would be a little better out there“
“The only negative thing I will say about it is the music was turned up a little too loud.Aside from that, everything we had was incredible. Our 8 year old daughter inhaled her chicken gyoza & chicken teriyaki rolls. We ordered the King Lobster, Mango Tango, Boston & Philadelphia rolls and they were all delicious. Will definitely remember this place the next time we're here from WI.“
“I like to go there 1-2 times a month for lunchFriendly staff , good service good foodsHighly recommended !!!!!!Must try Thai tomyom broth, diasy crown , lotus roots , black funguns, cattlefish ball , soybean roll , fish cakeKid-friendliness: The staff are friendly with the kids“
“Fresh, delicious, sushi with thick slices of fish, with just the right amount of spice or cream cheese or whatever else you might find in your roll of choice to bring out the flavor of the fish instead of masking it. I can't believe this is so close to home - I'm completely beside myself with glee right now.Update: it's been 6 years and I'm still in love. I have eaten here a mortifying number of times and picked up sushi to go even more often and I've never had a bad experience.Second update: I've moved, and Hakuya is the only restaurant I'll travel to reach. Absolutely impeccable every time.“
“My new favorite sushi place! The service is super kind and welcoming. They have such a wide variety of sushi as well as other dishes- all at an incredibly fair price! We ordered a few appetizers, rolls, and nigiri. Everything was so tasty and fresh! And even came out quickly!“
“I finally discovered this cosy restaurant which was on my list quite awhile. Everything we tried today was excellent. Miso soup and boiled edamame were just as good as expected. The highlight of my dinner was a sashimi plate! The quality of the medium fatty blue fin tuna and lean blue fin tuna was outstanding. Sake toro and escolar sashimi were mouthwatering. The charred flavor of my husband's squid and mushrooms was delightful. His skewers of chicken and beef were well prepared. His sushi selection of octopus, squid, egg and smoked salmon was fresh and well presented. We were really impressed by the very generous portions and the very fair pricing of the outstanding quality fish compared to the other Japanese restaurants. The sake selection is fantastic and reasonably priced as well. The service was attentive and efficient. We cannot wait to come back. I highly recommend!“
“Excellent service and sushi!! They served 22+ of us and were on top of it! Drinks, many different menu items and never missed a beat. Delicious sushi, sashimi and cooked items along great portion sizes. Awesome place and definitely returning!“
“A few years ago I didn’t know about this place but my sister recommended it. Now my family and I order pick up 1 or 2 times each month. The owners and staff are always super nice and the food is fantastic. I recommend supporting this local Des Plaines business. It’s two doors down from the new Giuseppe‘s location for reference“
“the food here is amazing!! they made an adjustment for me because i'm a vegetarian and made tofu in a dish served with meat. i also ordered a lot of things spicy and they did not fail! super quick & sweet people. i will be coming back“
“Good sushi rolls!! Been here a couple times & love it, doesn’t disappoint! We ordered & recommended the Miami Roll, Spicy Tuna Tempura, Caterpillar, the dumplings are good too! They also have burrito rolls, didn’t try them but they look good. Service was great as well. Very attentive. Place was very clean as well. & food tasted so fresh.“
“The food is prepared on site after you order it, this is no gas station sushi. This is top notch fresh and delicious. We had the Chicago Dragon roll (among other) which was just, wow, mouthwatering.Free refills on our normal drinks, and since it is at the end of the terminal there isn’t much outside traffic noise.Cushy Booths or bar seats available.Variety of mixed drinks and beers. We were here at around 3, and there was plenty of seating.Parking: You kinda have to be thru security in order to get here…Wheelchair accessibility: It seems like there could be an arrangement made for anyone in a wheel chair but I didn’t spot anything out of the norm. Multiple low tables that are loose enough to setup for a wheelchair.“
“Fuji Thai is the best restaurant in the area! I worked here for 4 years when I was younger and Ive been back as a customer every time I’m in town for the past 5 years. I can say from first hand experience, everything is clean and sanitary. The staff was always great to work with. For a first job, I couldn’t have asked for more. And Mona and her family (owners) are amazing! The food is incredible. Almost everything on the menu is made fresh and from scratch. Favorites: Tom kha soup Panang curry Double shrimp lover“
“I've been to Japan twice. I won't waste your time. Give them your money. I've spent plenty of time eating sushi and being disappointed. This was not that. The soba was superb and the sushi brought me back to Osaka. The prices are fair for the quality. Enjoy!“
“An exotic restaurant providing sushis, ramen, udon, and gyudon. The food quality is above average (4 stars). The service is unique by revolving belt (for sushi plates) and robots (for drinks) which is very accurate in a timely manner (5 stars). It is a very enjoyable experience.“
“Finally made my way to Des Plaines. Really wanted to Chicago Ramen but the weather was way too warm for that so opt in for Chicago Sushi. Honestly didn't even know it was right next to each other. Tucked in a plaza so no need to worry about parking. We came during down time where it was past lunch and too early to call it dinner so it was fairly quiet and empty just how we like it when dining with a baby. They had a booster seat for her to use to plop on the seated bench. Really was craving hand rolls since my visit to Dallas and wasn't looking to break the wallet so really this is the bang for the buck when it comes to price point value. The spicy salmon hand roll was so good we ordered another one. Best consume once it hits the table! Also have been seeing the jewel box so that was a must for me and the scallops were huge! I'd skip the crab meat bowl with scallop, nothing too extraordinary about it. I wish they bought back the hand roll trio in stead of selling them just one by one.“
“The spicy salad with salmon and tuna was great. The lettuce was very fresh and you could add as much spicy sauce on the side as you wanted. We would definitely go back to eat there instead of Mitsua where there was no seating on a Saturday.“
“We love Bistro Wasabi in Lake in the Hills, and we wanted to come check out this location tonight. We had Victoria as our server and she was wonderful. The food is always fantastic but we were really happy with the service, despite it being a busy Saturday night. Thank you Victoria!“
“Tokio Sake is a special place for our family. When we dine in person, we always find the staff attentive and friendly. You can also watch the sushi chefs meticulously preparing the sushi. They are prompt when we place take out orders. Most important of all, the caliber of the sushi is outstanding. We are a family of 6 and we all rate Tokio Sake sushi as the best in the area. Some of our favorites are Spicy Tuna Crunch and Alaska Roll. If you're looking for a great dining experience, this is the place for you!“
“LOVE, LOVE this place! They are always always BUSY! Probably due to their fairly priced, delicious food and amazing customer services!!!This place is amazing, especially their services! Even when they are busy their servers are very very attentive and caring!Just when you think all servers suck, lazy and slow…especially after covid, nope, not here!A lot of restaurant after covid, their bill will recommend you 18%/20%/25%, I went to a bell sushi place meaning they don’t even serve you but when the bill come they recommend you 20%/22%/25% BUT NOT HERE!! Their recommend tips is still 15%/18%/20% even when their level of services is 1000% better than everyone else!Love their miso ramen, boiled eggs, the bowl of heavy veggies come w/ your ramenVegetarian options: Only a few dishesDietary restrictions: Jsut ramen is served hereParking: Shared big lotKid-friendliness: server are great w kids!Wheelchair accessibility: Fromt Door not automatic“
