“Three stars. The drinks were phenomenal. Our server was attentive initially but wasn’t very helpful in answering questions about the menu. I had the chef’s special pasta, which was delicious. My boyfriend had the pork tenderloin. When he cut into the meat, it was underdone. Our server became MIA after our dinners were served so it took quite awhile to even notify her that the temperature of his meat was unsafe to eat. When she finally returned, she said she would ask them to “put it in a little longer.” Because of her knowledge gap with the menu, we assumed she didn’t understand that you don’t generally put a piece of meat that has already been cut and partly consumed back into the oven. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened. After a short period of time, she returned with the same piece of tenderloin, now charred on the edges and served on a bread plate. It was horrendous. We were so baffled, we didn’t know what to say. He was full at that point (after eating off my plate during the long wait), so we just ended the evening without dessert. There was no compensation offered or provided on the bill to account for the poor quality of food nor did the manger get notified to extend her apologies. We were extremely disappointed. When you spend $100 on dinner, you expect it to be prepared in a safe and sanitary manner. Neither of those things happened for my boyfriend.“
“The Elm epitomizes fine dining, offering an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The experience is unmatched-- especially in Bloomington, there is nothing that compares. The food and ambiance are unique and elegant, with every dish its own special masterpiece. What truly sets The Elm apart, however, is the commitment to providing an unforgettable experience for every guest. We recently had a wonderful visit where sous chef Michael Kaderabek was kind enough to visit our table and walk us through a dish.I highly recommend The Elm to anyone looking for a wonderful meal and experience.“
“IT ~ R O C K S ~#1. Food √#2. Service √#3. Atmosphere √I've visited now three times and each time the food is delightfully different and exceptionally tasty no matter I order. My entire party feels the same way. We will be back ~“
“Service was painfully slow and the place wasn't too crowded. It seemed like the servers didn't communicate well on who had which table and what the status was for each table. The menu was pretty interesting and the food was good, but a little too sweet for dishes that are meant to be savory not sweet. Outdoor patio was nice and sunny. Nice furniture and cushions etc.“
“Absolutely loved my first time at Hinkle! Super laid back and comfortable atmosphere, the employees made me feel like family! the food was amazing and super fast service! oh my were those burgers fabulous! My visit to Hinkles today was the absolute best part of my day! Thank you to all the staff even the bearded feller that made me laugh and cut up with me. Fun times for sure and great food..can't beat that!“
“Took my whole family here. Myself, their dad and three kids. Everyone loved what they ordered, very fast efficient service and everyone there was extremely helpful and kind. The menu options were awesome. All the usual favorites with a good mix of other different options that are your everyday fast food choices. Place was clean, tidy and organized. Would recommend to people w kiddos. Was well worth the price. Paid less then I would have at most other fast food joints! Only complaint and not even that big a deal was the parking lot was a little difficult to navigate. The exit was in the lines w the drive thru exit and waiting area and people were parked on both sides of the lot making it impossible to exit the lot without sitting and waiting for them to move too.“
“I didn’t eat here because I was already full, just looking for a hole in the wall to drink. I found the hole. This place had amazing feel/atmosphere. Gave me Irish pub vibes. Mark, the bartender was awesome. I am in town visiting family and I will definitely be coming back everyday until I leave. 10/10“
“Best breakfast in Bloomington! I ordered the club #4. Which comes with 2 slices of French Toast, 2 eggs and ham and I also ordered a side of bacon. Orange juice and water to drink. The total was $10 and some change before tip. First, the French Toast was amazing. You can actually taste the vanilla which is something a lot of places get wrong. The ham is the real deal. Not a round slab like most places and you can see from the picture that the ham and eggs are cooked perfectly. Just like they came out of grandma's cast iron skillet. This is the best looking place from the outside and the entire is definitely a little dated but the food more than makes up for that. Highly recommend you give them a visit.“
“Let's be honest with ourselves, if you're looking for a Michelin star you aren't going to find it. But if you're looking for consistency and the "comfort" vibe you're in good shape with this place. The food is easy on the wallet and greasy on the plate, what more could you ask for? Try it out if you've never been.“
“One of the BEST here in Bloomington with an affordable price! We love DINERS and are regulars here now! There are specials everyday and a large menu of all favorites for anyone! The staff is wonderful, friendly, and informative with a great atmosphere!“
“Great experience here today. I had the guajillo pork tacos and my wife had the chicken nachos. Kids meals were very affordable and quite generous in portion size. Beers were tasty too. We make it a point to visit every time we are in Bloomington.“
“I love coming to the Owlrey or getting take out. Everything is delicious and filling! I'm not a full-time vegetarian, but I've never been disappointed with anything I've gotten here, and it's helping encourage me to reduce my meat consumption overall with such yummy inspirational dishes! Plus, the atmosphere is really pleasant- it's not too big of a dining room, so it's not too loud, and I've always gotten great service!“
“Visited on eclipse day. They were offering free eclipse pancakes via web advertising. Lots of folks setting up in parking lot for the view. Seemed the place to be! Food was great and served fast. Always love the smell of the hearth. Thanks for the great visit!“

“We had the best service today! Such an amazing waitress. Even though she was busy doing so many things she made sure we were taken care of! The food was incredible. Tenderloin, smash burger and even a grilled cheese. Can’t wait to come back!“
“Not only is the food on point here, but the staff is friendly and accommodating. This is also one of the only places you can still get a late night bite.My fries could have been a bit crisper, but the burger I got otutshines that factor. If you're a movie buff, you'll enjoy the names of their different burgers. I would share the burger names here, but I would recommend you go check this place out for yourself!Kid-friendliness: This really worked out for us, because everything was closing or closed. Although they do have a bar, they are also a kid friendly restaurant.“
“The burger was good, albeit a little greasy, and I really like the bottomless sides. I got the garlic fries and they were delicious. The service, however, wasn't great. It might have been the server we had, but in spite of the restaurant being mostly empty, we had to wait for refills and at one point, we had to ask another server for help. I almost didn't tip very much, but I know that restaurants don't pay servers a good wage. I hope my next visit is better.“
“First time here and I was very surprised all around. At first I thought it was a bit pricy until we got the food! The food was amazing! I have to say I had never tried a tempura tenderloin before and now I won't hesitate to order that again! Their fries are sooo good! Hot and crispy, and everyone got freshly cooked food.“
“Great service and they have had the best biscuits and gravy in Bloomington for decades. I am willing to bet the other food is good too but since I can't go here and not get biscuits and gravy, I really can't say for sure. Street parking can sometimes be a problem it's not too expensive if you find a place...(it's easier with the ParkMobile app so take this as a recommendation for that as well).“
“My boyfriend and I went for dinner. Very VERY busy night for the restaurant. ( makes sense it’s a holiday weekend) we put in reservations online and the wait was 1 hour 25 mins. We were fine with the wait didn’t bother us any we were just enjoying spending time together out of the house. We got in and sat down had drinks and an appetizer brought to the table. We got so into talking to each other and playing the trivia game on the little device they had on the table that we didn’t notice an hour had gone by before we got our food. The manager apologized the server had apologized. We personally were not concerned with the wait. Our food was good our server kept up with refills and got our order right so we had no reason to complain. The server looked kinda defeated with the busy night he had and the kitchen taking so long. We decided rather quickly the young man serving us needed and deserved a smile. So we tipped $59 to out a smile on his face (and he earned it) when we were done and left the restaurant completely satisfied. We will be back.“
“Excellent in every aspect. Great food, service and staff. New owners are also very friendly and definitely putting an effort the business and very accommodating, even with the current situation. Please give them a try if you haven’t yet.“
“3-25-24 I'm in town once a year, and UpTown has become a must stop. Warm atmosphere, and incredible service (Thanks Madison!). Had the surf n' turf special. Steak (most tender I've had in ages), 2 big shrimp, and a delicious crab cake. Asparagus for the side, which was awesome. Madison was kind enough to get me a little taste of the Jalapeño grits. YUM, but I couldn't actually eat a whole side. All the food was delicious. The menu had lots to offer. One of our party has dietary restrictions, and Madison was not only able to accommodate, but knew the menu inside and out and gave some great advice. Thank you to Madison and team for helping turn a great meal into a memorable evening.“
