The sushi was good. The shrimp fried rice was not. The shrimp wasn't cleaned properly and was very very overcooked.

Friendly staff great atmosphere. Waitress super sweet and very helpful in assisting us on our decision on which rolls to choose. Cooks create well presented neat clean dishes. Food was fresh. Liked watching the cooks up front making your order. Defiantly try the Soju with your sushi! Very smooth!Parking: Angle Parking is along a one way street in the downtown square.

At Michigan City's beloved Hokkaido Japanese Restaurant, a rare event unfolded—a limited-time All You Can Eat sushi special. This fleeting opportunity was a dream for those of us who revel in the art of sushi. It was a weekend of abundance, a special that might grace us once or may never again.Hokkaido rose to the occasion, balancing the delicate equation of quantity with quality. The conditions for the All You Can Eat special were straightforward, avoiding any cumbersome restrictions while maintaining a price that felt more than fair. It's a delicate dance for a restaurant to perform, but Hokkaido did it with grace. What stood out most was not just the chance to eat to our hearts’ content but the undiminished quality of what we were served. Each sushi roll and each appetizer arrived fresh and was presented with the care of a regular menu item. The rolls were crafted with expertise, and the ingredients shone fresh and vibrant on the plate. The diversity of the menu was delightful. With an array of rolls and appetizers to choose from, each round brought a new taste adventure. We navigated through the offerings, exploring a culinary landscape that was as delicious as it was vast.By the meal's end, the feeling of contentment was undeniable. My partner and I left Hokkaido not just full but fulfilled, having savored a wide spectrum of flavors that the special allowed us to explore. It's rare to encounter an All You Can Eat special that leaves you impressed by both the quantity and the high standard of each dish. This All You Can Eat special was a moment in time, a weekend that those who experienced it will not soon forget. For those who missed out, one can only hope that Hokkaido might one day offer this extraordinary special again. But if not, it remains a testament to their commitment to quality and generosity—a memory to be cherished by the lucky ones who were there to enjoy it. If Hokkaido ever decides to revisit this special, make it a priority to attend—you'll want to immerse yourself in every flavor, every roll, every delectable moment.

Took my son out for lunch at Hokkaido today to celebrate his first car purchase. The sushi was great as always, but the real star was the Crab Rangoon! My son and I agree that the Crab Rangoon is the absolute best in the area. All of the staff were amazing as well. They were very attentive and friendly. Other restaurants in the area should take note of this staff!

(Food is memorable!) (Love the hospitality) (Vibe surrounded by culture)You don't know how much you miss something until you don't have it. Sushi is so close to my heart. Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant gave me a piece of home aftet trying their delicious food. Located in Michigan City, Indiana, Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant is off the chain! Grateful for the experience. The food was magnificent, magical, and memorable. The smells, sounds, and taste stand out in this restaurant. Although I didn't care for the miso soup, as I would prefer more tufo and herbs, the broth wasn't bad. However, the sushi was extremely good! From the presentation to the sauces to the first bite to the last bite, I was absolutely impressed. I also got excited about Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant having a secret menu. I look forward to eating from that in the future. The service was incredible. We were served by youth and were impressed by how well he spoke, served, and carried himself. Our water cups stayed full, and we were treated nicely! The atmosphere was full of rich culture and love. I love how Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant embraced the Asian culture and how the food reflected that culture. The decor was awesome, the restaurant was clean, and the vibe was on point.Everything was awesome! Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant had me at hello! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and can't say enough how good the sushi is. With a full heart and belly, thanks, Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant!Vegetarian options: Rolls and other menu items are vegetarian.Parking: There was plenty of street parking right outside the restaurant.Kid-friendliness: Kid-friendly menu items are available, and the restaurant appears Kid-friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: Large space for wheelchair accessibility.

Hokkaido restaurant in Michigan City has firmly established itself as my wife and my favorite sushi spot. It's a hidden gem that consistently delivers a fantastic dining experience. Every time I visit, I can't resist ordering the Tiger Roll, and it has never once disappointed. The flavors and textures in this roll are perfectly balanced, and it's become a signature favorite of mine. The staff at Hokkaido are not only friendly but also incredibly attentive. They greet you with a warm welcome, and their efficiency is commendable. It's evident that they take pride in ensuring a pleasant dining experience for their guests. The restaurant itself is always clean and exudes a quiet, inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing meal. What truly sets Hokkaido apart is their generous and proportionate servings. You definitely won't leave hungry! And let's not forget about the hot sake - it's a delightful addition to the meal. In my opinion, Hokkaido is the best sushi restaurant in the region outside of Chicago. If you're in Michigan City and craving exceptional sushi, look no further. It's a culinary treasure that never fails to impress, and I can't wait for my next visit.

Ordered the chicken Katsu. Not impressed. It was smothered in a sauce that seemed to be a combination of Siracha and cocktail sauce. Really not impressed with the $10 Surcharge on the bill.

The food here was amazing, especially for the price. The portions are quite large, too. They were also very quick, we had out appetizer within 10 minutes and our food within like 25 minutes of ordering. I will definitely be back, its my new favorite sushi place for sure. My only complaint is we had to ask for refills, but they were starting to get busy and I only saw 1-2 servers so I wasn't that upset given the amount of work they were doing.
