They have two pool tables, drinks are reasonably priced as well as served... All in all four out of five! Definitely worth visiting, the food is better than average bar standards by far. I have not tried the pizza but I have heard it is amazing, several times!Vegetarian options: Over All... Impressed ?.

We love this place!! Great drinks, food, and prices! We have never seen anyone post photos of the bbq pulled pork Mac n cheese that comes in a garlic bread bowl - aka pizza crust! Delish!! Super unique and loved the flavors and that we got to eat the pizza crust bowl! We also got the fried green beans and garlic bites as an app (forgot pics) and they were delish, too! Pretty much every time we head to Michigan city, we head to Local Option

I didn't eat here. I went on New Years eve with a couple friends. There wasn't much going on but we decided to stay for one drink.There were two guys bartening and the first guy was pliote and quickly mad our drinks. I handed him my debit card he asked if I wanted to start a tab. I said no thank you and he headed to the register. After a few minutes he returned my card. I signed the bill and added in a tip.I returned to the bar just a few minutes later to order for my friend. The two were involved in a conversation with a couple of guest so I waited patiently while the did shots and continued to talk. Finally I raised my hand and still didn't get their attention. I finally got the other bartender's attention and was able to order her drink and I paid cash.I returned home and checked my account balance to discover Loca Option put a $20 hold on my card in addition to the original charge, my account was over drawn. I'm very happy they are not the only option.

For bar pizza the thin crust is second to none in Michigan city, coming from a pizza aficionado who grew up on some of the best pizza in the world( Chicago ).
We ordered over $100 in pizzas yesterday and they were delicious! Because of that, I noticed that they had Italian beef sandwiches on there menu so I couldn't wait to try them today. Well, they were so terrible that we couldn't eat them. We had to throw them away. First off the meat was not Italian beef but some kind of shredded pot roast with pizza sauce on it. And the beef was very dry. When I called to let them know how terrible the sandwiches were and that we had to throw them away, they very simply told me that they were sorry we didn't enjoy them and to have a good night. It is false advertisement to have Italian beef sandwiches on your menu when it's not Italian beef but shredded beef pot roast with pizza sauce. Because of this experience and how they handled it, I will never order anything else from them, and will advise everyone that I know not to waste their time nor money!

Very unique place. The bar top is large, U- shaped, wooden, and the well-padded seats are regular chair height (not barstool height). So you don't climb up on to the seat, you actually sit down. The bartenders floor area is about 2 steps lower than the floor in the rest of the building. This still keeps you and the staff at eye level. Around the bar are several high top tables with the usual barstools. There's a second room where the pool tables are located. I haven't tried the food yet but do intend to in the future. Karaoke was featured the night I was there. Overall a nice place with reasonable prices and a friendly staff. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Local Option is a bar that not only offers a great selection of drinks but also serves some of the best deep dish pizza you can find in the area. If you're on the hunt for a true Chicago-style stuffed pizza, look no further, but be prepared for a couple of drawbacks.The pizza at Local Option is top-notch. It's reasonably priced considering the generous serving sizes and the variety of toppings available, and they offer some unique Pizza of the Months from what I saw last time. A 14-inch pie probably weighs in at a hefty five pounds, offering excellent value for your money. The BBQ pulled pork stuffed mac and cheese is another must-try dish, albeit incredibly decadent and filling - almost too filling, if there's such a thing!However, as much as I enjoy the food, there are a couple of significant drawbacks. Firstly, they don't offer delivery, so you have to pick up your order. While the bar is relatively nearby for me, the fact that they allow smoking inside makes the pickup experience less than pleasant. The smoke was so bad last time my friend had to step outside for air while we waited.Secondly, there doesn't seem to be any dedicated hosts or takeout/wait staff. I've occasionally found myself waiting awkwardly at the bar until a staff member notices and brings my order. The lack of an online ordering system for pickup is another inconvenience, as you have to call in to place your orders.In conclusion, Local Option serves up some truly delicious Chicago-style cuisine, but their pickup experience could use some work. If they could separate the dining experience from the bar, perhaps by having a dedicated pickup area and staff, it would go a long way in enhancing the overall customer experience. Despite these drawbacks, the food is compelling enough to make me return, albeit not as frequently as I would if the pickup process were more streamlined.
