This was our first time there. The food was excellent, and the a very friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend to others. This will be our new restaurant when we come into town.

The food here is absolutely delicious! I can't wait for them to reopen fully again someday! The collard greens were so good and rich (don't tell my fiancée I like theirs more than hers), and I love the sweet potatoes and potato salad too! The fried pork chop, chicken, and whiting fish are delicious! Again, I simply cannot wait to go back!

Hands down the best food I've had in a long time. We had the pork chops, chicken wings, whiting nuggets, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and sprite!! It's was affordable, delicious, and service was so welcoming. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming including the staff. It was clean and smelled so amazing. We will definitely be back and will be bringing my parents also!

I'm in love with the concept of this place. It's simple, homie and honors the traditions of southern comfort food. My first bite sent my mind back into my grandmothers kitchen or to a local restaurant in Mississippi. The experience of being for a moment transported to a happy place cemented by memory is beautiful and here I got that. Food: I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken with fries as well as the southern fried catfish with a side of sweet potatoes. I wasn't very hungry when i arrived, but by the end of the meal I had almost eaten everything. The skin of the chicken was perfectly crispy while also being well seasoned. At the same time the white meat remained tender and juicy without a single dry section. The catfish was also wonderfully crunchy and was also seasoned beautifully. The fish was fantastic especially when paired with tartar sauce. The sweet potatoes were also good and had added sweetness that permeated the entire starch. Whether they were canned or fresh I do not care I loved them. The fry's were fried well but maybe could have used a tad more salt. Then again too Much salt in the meal wouldn't have been good either. In general I really enjoyed my meal. To most this place may seem simple, but perfecting simple is a task few accomplish. Many places lazily cook these dishes or try too hard to make them unique. Here the food is done right with no unnecessary nonsense. I would also like to mention that I am writing this review after my first time here and I dont regret it. The nostalgic feelings I had while eating here were magical.

We were blown away by the quality of the food here. This was our first time here and we went for lunch. Everything was fresh and delicious, we got the fried whitefish and catfish, greens, potato salad, sweet potatoes, and mac n cheese. Lawd have mercy, it was a lot of food but we finished every bite!

First, let me start by saying that we had such high hopes. In a quest to shop local and support small businesses, my family of 3 came here for lunch. I ordered the chicken wings/collard greens/mac-n-cheese, the kiddo had the chicken tenders and fries, hubs had the pork chop with fries and greens. 1 Be prepared, they don't offer any kids meals. The adult chicken tenders was obnoxious for a five year old. 2 Grab some seasoning/hot sauce. Aside from the collard greens which were honestly FIRE, almost everything else lacked flavor. The chicken was well cooked and juicy, but sadly on the bland side. Hubby's pork chop was over cooked and lacking flavor. 3 As an aficionado, take my advice and don't get the macaroni. Just don't. It's all creamy with no real cheese flavor or crust that I expect from a good mac-n-cheese. 4. Get Your food to go. The vibe in the restaurant wasn't the most welcoming or comfortable. It's a bit much for us with the religious stuff all over the place. TLDR, just order a huge container of greens to-go, everything else was mediocre.

What a gem! Came here for lunch and tried the whiting, chicken wings, greens, mac and cheese, and banana pudding. The wings were juicy and perfectly flavored. The whiting was SO GOOD. The greens and Mac were perfect. The banana pudding was maybe the best I've ever had in my life. Cannot recommend more highly!!!
Casual sit down dining experience. Each meal was $15 a piece but I was very full at the end. The Mac and cheese was phenomenal. Definitely go here for the Mac and cheese.

This was awesome! We arrived 30 mins to close, and knew what it was walking in. We asked for wha t she had left, and she loaded us up with chicken, the best sweet potatoes, salad and a muffin with a discount. We were thrilled and will be back for more. Can't wait to try the Mac and cheese and greens. Exceptional service. Better Food.

I was driving around town had a lot of things on my mind and on my heart .I just kept praying and singing my JESUS songs on K-LOVE, that's what my grand babies call it JESUS songs..lolAny wayI felt like I kept going in circles.I saw Mamas SOUL FOOD ..I ordered my food and sat down..And I started listening to the worship songs they had playing in the background and every song that came on was how I was feeling I felt God was telling me everything was going to be okay. I just sat there and I cried. The food was absolutely amazing the chicken was cooked perfectly the potato salad was great and the macaroni and cheese was heavenly I got to worship pray and eat a wonderful meal all at the same time. I truly loved it first time I've ever experienced a restaurant like that . we need more of them And then my son come to join me what made it even better we prayed together and we enjoyed our meal. This place is amazing. food is fantastic !!!I will be going back, the people that work there we're so kind and always checking on you to make sure you were enjoying your meal it was a wonderful experience I will be going back.
