The Brooklyn and The Butcher where we had reservations had to close due to lack of staff so we decided to try The Standard. Can honestly say none of us have ever eaten a meal as bad as we had tonight. The bill was $169.00 plus tip. The appetizers and staff were fantastic. However, we will never eat here again. Spent 200 bucks and only thing worth eating was the fried green tomatoes and Mac and Cheese. What was supposedly to be a special evening for out of state guests turned into a disaster.

Came here because Brooklyn & The Butcher was closed. Party of 4. Fried green tomatoes were good as was the Mac and cheese. I ordered the wedge and was disappointed. Pork belly bites were chewy, too much core of iceberg and not enough tomatoes. Caprese salad was dry. Two in our party got the ribeye. Green beans were super spicy and A1 was not available. Wanted peach and cream but they ran out. Total bill was $168. For the money the food is not worth it. Won’t be back. Wish we had gone to The Exchange!

Adding a review for BrunchIt was been a long time since I had brunch at The Standard. As always the service was great. Everyone was very friendly. Our waitress was very nice and offered up suggestions for us.I ended up getting the Kentucky Fries “Bene”. I was a little concerned because it’s out of my comfort zone for breakfast. I got the egg hard poached. I have to say this dish was so full of different flavors. I’ll be hard pressed to even try something else. It came with hash brown casserole. The casserole was so so, a little dry. I ended up using some of the gravy from the other dish. The other dish was the Award-Winning biscuits and gravy. It was really good. The biscuits were large and fluffy. The gravy did have a great flavor.I’m super happy with my choice. Continue to support local businesses and put The Standard on your list of places to eat!DinnerFirst time back at here since Covid. This was a favorite place and was sad they closed, so super happy they’ve reopened. The service was great and the food was amazing. They take reservations. You cannot be the value of the Standard. The atmosphere is perfect. The chicken had a great flavor. I would have liked it better if it was a chicken breast without the bone. The grits were awesome. I don’t typically like grits but these were thick The collard greens were really good. I would like them with a little less vinegar and maybe some red pepper flakes. I’m cutting hairs with these questions. The lasagna was so good. I don’t typically care for veggie lasagna. This portion was large and the sauce of full of flavor. I don’t have any suggestions at all.Overall, do yourself a favor and put The Standard on your rotation of local restaurants to visit.

Back after a year or so hiatus, the Standard Plate and Pour demonstrates that it is back with tasty entrees and sandwiches for your dining enjoyment. Located in the historic section of downtown New Albany on Main St., Standard Plate and Pour offers steaks, chops, salmon, and chicken and items in between. Visiting on a Saturday evening, my dining companion and I sat at the bar to watch NCAA basketball as we dined, and the bar staff is very friendly and attentive. We started with the Christmas Cocktail and Sun King's Electric Reindeer beer. The Christmas cocktail ($8), made with bourbon, was both pleasing to the eye and to the taste. The Electric Reindeer ($5), Brown Ale brewed with ginger and molasses, tasted of nutmeg and coriander. Dinner was the The Codfather Sandwich ($13), your choice of fried or blackened cod, broccoli slaw, malt vinegar aioli, bibb lettuce, on a toasted brioche bun. It was moist, flavorful, and not too spicy and the bun was lightly toasted and not hard. My dining companion choose the Standard Smash Burger ($12), black angus beef, aged cheddar, roasted garlic mayo, bibb lettuce, onion straws, spicy pickles, on a toasted brioche bun. It was both flavorful and satisfying. While we did not have them, a couple near us tried the Mozza Rolls ($10), marinated mozzarella stuffed wonton (big wontons) and Tuna Poke Nachos, sweet soy marinated ahi tuna, wasabi aoli, ginger sauce, candied peanuts, on crispy wonton. Both looked delicious and items I want to try. The Standard Plate and Pour adds another excellent choice to the downtown New Albany dining scene. Should you find yourself in the area, give it a try as it comes recommended! Edit: after submitting this review, I noticed how many yelp elite have reviewed the restaurant and given positive reviews. That in itself speaks volumes. Bon Appetit!

My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner at the Standard after having a previous wonderful lunch with my co-workers the week prior. My boyfriend was thrilled with the service and the quality of the food. He highly recommends the pork chop. We are excited to return for a brunch experience.

Wow, great new place in New Albany/Louisville area. Going to be a regular stop. Great bar area, cool inside, awesome deck. Best part is the food and cocktails.

Walking through downtown we had reservations at another restaurant. The Standard was warm looking so we cancelled reservations and dined outside. We were greeted with a warm welcome, our waitress was very kind and sweet. The food... Man it was delicious. The Mac & cheese appetizer was rocking, steak we're prepared perfectly to my liking, and everything bite married perfectly. I even was impressed with the handsome cutlery. Prices were reasonable as well. If you want an awesome dining experience you'd be crazy not to choose these guys.

This restaurant has just reopened so take this review with caution. When I went they were still staffing up. So I'm posting this more for the owner then for future customers. Perhaps because they were understaffed at the time, they would only cook burgers to medium. The fries were too salty and the cocktails too sweet. But there's a lot of fun items on the menu. You have to love a place with a fried green tomato salad. Brown butter brussel sprouts are fabulous. I like that they have a variety of vegetables and cocktails beyond the Old fashioned consumer friendly sampling.New Albany has a lot of restaurants, and from the lines on a Saturday night, could use more.I wish this restaurant luck. It has a great concept and ambiance. Give it a try.

We attended their private event to celebrate a birthday and were absolutely blown away at the amazing experience! Very affordable price for the amazing venue and especially considering it included 4 exquisite courses + custom paired wines + thorough wine history/education. Service extremely friendly and attentive. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for just a nice date night out or to celebrate an occasion as we did!

I cannot rate the restaurant because by the time my wife and I discovered Standard, they had converted to an event space... I am sure in response to the Cobvid-19 shutdowns.... We found Standard by perusing events in the greater Louisville area... We found that they were hosting an Old Forester and paring event so we signed up and counted the days to the event. It was a four-course pairing with an Old Forester tasting with each course. The welcome drink was an old fashion made with Old Forester and the welcome bite was a Pimento Cheese and Country Ham biscuit with sorghum butter. 1st Pairing was with Grilled Shrimp with polenta, charred onions, blistered tomatoes and a bourbon gastrique paired with Old Forester 1890. 2nd Pairing was with Acorns Squash soup, caramelized onions, creamy cheese, spiced nuts and cilantro all paired with an Old Forester 1910 3rd pairing was Grilled Korean-style short ribs, blistered baby bok choy, daikon radish slaw, house teriyaki and roasted sweet potato wedges paired with an Old Forester 1920. The 4th pairing was Dessert which was a wonderful chocolate mousse with fresh fruit and paired with Old Forester's Birthday bourbon... Both had a fantastic taste. The service was excellent and the food was incredible... I took one star off, because for some reason, and I read other patrons had experienced the same thing .. that the food was barley warm... From the biscuit to the spare ribs, the food was slightly above room temperature... Not sure why... The taste was there... but the food was just not warm. Besides the food temp, everything else was great. I hope the Chef has great success and can survive the pandemic. I look forward to going back, for either another event or when he reopens as a restaurant .... And I must add the Chef was most gracious... My wife asked for the Acorn Squash soup recipe and he came out and gladly shared it with her personally.
