Family takeout for a late dinner. Had a line that was entertaining to wait in. Ordering can be a little overwhelming but staff and other patrons are supportive. Food is good but we prefer some other bbq places in town.
Food was good, order taker/cashier was lousy. Didn't get my order right, didn't give me any napkins, didn't offer catsup or extra sauce for the fries (maybe that's why she didn't think I needed napkins). But HEY! There is a help-wanted sign on the door. They desparately need some good help if anyone is looking for a job!!!

My husband and I are a little bit picky about our BBQ (who isn't, right?) So we weren't sure what to expect when we came to the KC area. We really enjoyed our meal at Gates. Their sauce is a little tangier than we were used to, but we enjoyed it very much. We shared a sampler platter, which was more than enough food. The staff could not have been more friendlier - we felt like they were inviting us to have dinner at their house. Very good experience.
