“This weekend my boyfriend and I were wanting some Birria tacos. We found GG's Barbacoa Cafe on Yelp. I'm so glad we decided to stop in. The service was great. We were promptly helped and was offered assistance. We got a plate of 4 Birria tacos. We also got the Horchata and both were so delicious. We would definitely come back.“
“Customer service absolutely amazing and the food will need no seasoning everything cooked to order so it’s fresh….the workers at officially chopped barbershop told me about this place and let me tell you they were all right this place is “
“Food was very delicious and authentic to mexican cuisine. I had a torta and fries and they gave plenty of fries and not a small portion like some restaurants. The torta was exceedingly good, the bread didn’t get all soggy and fall apart and meat was seasoned just right. 10/10 recommend!“
“Delicious wood grilled chicken in half or whole. It comes with beans, rice, pickled onions and a salsa purée. It smelled absolutely delicious when you go inside, and the food was even better. The place doesn’t look like anything special, but the food and service are top tier. The lady working the counter was kind and on her game. This is a must visit location in KC and now one of our favorites.“
“I really enjoyed my order because the Birria, shredded pork, and flour tamales were absolutely delicious and made my mouth water. Despite being busy, the service was good and the staff were still very nice and sweet. Also, the place was clean and had lovely colors.“
“The food was amazing, they cut the meat to pretty fine pieces, so it's very easy to eat as far as street tacos go.The service was great, very kind staff, you may need to know some Spanish to get by here. The payment is CASH ONLY. Don't forget to bring cash with you.The space looks like they've done well with a low budget. It could be better, but for what it is they've done their best.“
“The best Mexican food I have ever ever ever had! You must get the quesadilla. The tacos are fantastic; and the salsas are to die for. It's a small family owned shop that has all the right stuff! I don't like authentic Mexican food, but I kid you not I could eat here everyday, 3 times a day!“
“My favorite Mexican food in KC, period. More "street style" than traditional restaurant style, and the food is just amazing. I've known the owner, Don Memo (Guillermo) for years, as he used to run the taco truck in front of Olivares Auto Garage, at Independence Ave/Denver on the Missouri side. His tacos were fantastic then, and are just next-level awesome now that he has an actual kitchen to work with. If you're looking to just sit down and enjoy some wonderful authentic Mexican food (antojitos) without the expense of a large restaurant, and without having to sit outside like at a taco truck, this is the place to go.“
“One of our favorite places that we frequent in KC. I've never been disappointed & food is consistently fantastic. If you are considering going, you've got to try it. Staff is very friendly and accommodating and can recommend options if you are unsure. Love all the cerviche options!“
“Visited after seeing the article in the Star. They did not disappoint. Wife had the combo platter & I had the fish soup. Tons of food, ALL spot-on...the flavors were great, the heat just right! The waitress was perfect, service & speed was excellent.“
“This is one of the most phenomenal restaurants I have ever been to in my life. The owner is so friendly and personable. This place is the definition of how a business should be run. I wish them great success! I have found a new favorite lunch spot. Thanks“
“Delicious as always. I picked up some lunch here. This might be my new favorite place. I was able to call and place my order over the phone. About 15 minutes later, I headed down to pay and pick it up. I was on my way in no time. They do have a dining area, but it is pretty small.“
“Best tacos al pastor in the midwest. This is not an exaggeration. I've had pastor tacos all over the city and all over the country. These are the best (Sergio's of Osage Beach is a close second). The other food is excellent as well! The restaurant is first come first serve and seat yourself. Staff is very friendly. Parking is available on the street out front, but expect to find relatively abundant parking on Minnesota Avenue to the northwest of the restaurant. Don't pass up this spot!Kid-friendliness: Kids food can be made to order for picky eaters.“
“Friendly helpful and very cleanParking: It is visible to the store, you can get in your car when it is for takeout and when your order is placed from the store, they speak to you by a number.Kid-friendliness: If there is where they can get off, it is safe, you just have to keep an eye on them.“
“Great little neighborhood spot with an authentic vibe! We got a half order of each kind- varying levels of spicy heat. Served with tortillas, beans, rice. Authentic, wholesome, tasty! Served family style get- a whole chicken and sides for $20. We'll be back!“
“this is some of the best Mexican food I have had locally in years. I am addicted and highly recommend them. Their menu is great and quick and fast service!!! Either dine in or the carry out was ready before I could even get there! they are 10.of 5 stars for. sure“
“Fire. Come on now everyone knows about torito. If you ain't going in there trying to get some Carne asada waiting 30 min for your number to be called while standing next to some random person. Your missing out. They need to make that place bigger.“
“The atmosphere of the restaurant spelled out authentic Mexican food without overdoing it. Service was quick to sit us down to offer a menu and drinks. What was unique is that they do not give chips and salsa as all other Mexican joints do. They offer chicharon pinwheels with hot sauce which I think made it better and brought my Hispanic childhood back with memory of the heladero (ice cream man). I ordered empanadas that I had never tried with chicken meat, my daughter chose sopes with Al Pastor meat. My wife got tacos with Al Pastor meat too. They both liked their dishes and mine was yummy with both the green sauce and red sauce. I will go back to try other dishes.“
“These tacos quickly became my favorite. Everything we have tried so far has been really good. The service is always friendly and quick.we usually get the steak street tacos. But the quesadillas are SO GOOD. The quesadillas are good sized and my husband and I usually split one. It has become out of to taco place.“
“This place has it all: a bustling grocery store, freshly made tortillas, a meat market, and excellent food for takeout or counter service with ample indoor seating. I had pork tamales, a taco al pastor, and a chile relleno taco (the first time I’ve had that, although I’ve always loved chile relleno on their own). All was really good: the chile relleno taco was my favorite, the al pastor was missing pineapple (bummer), and the pork tamales were yummy but maybe just a bit on the dry side. The salsa bar had several spicy options and I washed everything down with horchata. Great spot with a busy lunchtime crowd and lots of free parking.“
“My boyfriend and I LOVE micheladas, it is our thing. So we set out to find the best ones in town. I had seen people I know post about it so we decided to try it out. and oh my gosh. these are the BEST in town. They are very authentic. You can get them to go which is cool and also they come in a big cup with chamoy on the side. They put the right amount of beer and other ingredients, they just do it right every time. My bf and I always get regular michelada with the dried meat on it and it tastes really good. The workers are always super nice to attend to us and make our drinks very fast. There is always people when we go in just chilling with their friends and it is a chill place to just have a drink. They also serve fruit with tajin and other things that are fruit with lime and tajin/ spicy. for sure recommend for an authentic michelada!“
“Fantastic food. My wife is from Southern California and almost cried happy tears with how much the food reminded her of her mom's cooking! She says it's the most authentic Mexican food she's had in the midwest. 10/10 will be coming back.“
“The ice cream is amazing and we weren't expecting much quality from the food as it's an ice cream place but the tacos were better than even some taco places nearby. Only thing is the meat was in bigger pieces than I would like but overall they were amazing! The salsas are also spicy and very flavorful. The staff is also very friendly!“
“I have been coming here since they opened in Kansas City. This is a family owned business. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in KC.The restaurant itself isn’t very big, most customers order carry out.I love their Sopes. Most customers come for the tamales. The food portions are great and the pricing is affordable.I wish this restaurant would move to Johnson County area because this location is far from where I live.Parking: If the restaurant is busy, it can be difficult to find a parking spot.“
“Great place to stop for a good bite to eat when you're in the area. Had a large bowl of Pozole on this chilly afternoon. It had a generous portion of meat and veggies. It definitely hit the spot! The place is on the smaller side, so during prime hours it could be a little packed.“
“What a spot. This a total hole in the wall locals only sort of spot. You have to know it's there almost, and man is worth finding. Flavor is paramount here. Spice is for sure. The Hawaiian torta was absolutely phenomenal, and the shrimp burrito was very spicy yet so flavorful and delicious we couldn't stop. The dining area was remarkably clean and well kept.Parking: Very limited.Kid-friendliness: They have a specific children's menu.“
“I ordered a burrito it was real good I enjoyed it. I will come back( truth I was asked what I wanted from here from a friend and I didnt know what they had just pick a burrito or taco. Lol so chose the burrito. Definitely coming back to look at menu and get something “
“Great restaurant with great prices. The staff was unbelievably friendly and made me feel like a friend even though I was only there for a minute. The food was great too, the meat had great flavor, the Verde salsa was amazing, and the spicy salsa was great! Come to this place!!!“
“Just wanted to hop on here and recommend Palacana. My husband really wanted carne asada fries for dinner, I showed them the picture and asked if they could make it. They whipped it up and I was on my way. They were absolutely delicious!!! We used to get these frequently in Colorado and haven’t seen them in Kansas; they were amazing and I hope they will be added to the menu in the future. Also the smoothies here are AMAZING; the food is great and the service is fast!“
“I am nothing if not an avid taco eater! Stopped by Tacos El Sobrino for a quick lunch, and it was fabulous! The service was quick, and the food was super tasty. I thought that the chicken was a little dry, but our waitress gave us so many yummy sauces that complimented the meat well and added some liquid back. Will definitely be back again!“
“This is one of my favorite, go-to taco spots in KCK. I love the late-night hours, the taste and variety of offerings, and I always get speedy service. The chorizo tacos and asada tacos are my personal favorites, but there are so many options on the menu that you really can't go wrong.“
“This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, I have been coming here for years! Food and drinks are great! Last time I came it was a little busy and I felt that our server was rushing us on ordering. But other than that I have no complaints!“
“This was the best grilled chicken I have ever had in my entire life! Nice and juicy and so tasty? nice people also easy to pay and go always hot and ready you never have to wait on food to be cooked here and it comes fresh off of the grill.“
“Very nice place to get authentic Mexican food. I recommend going. We went with a large group and they were more than accommodating. The Jamaica was very tasty and frosty. My pork ribs were also very tasty and they were served with fresh made tortillas.“
“Very disappointed this place has gone downhill! We are frequent customers here and loved taco Tuesday, but again today we had the worst deep fried tacos ever. Instead of putting the lettuce an tomato and cheese on top of my order of tacos ,could you simply take the time to open up the tacos an put them in there! Really felt like mashed up taco salad instead of tacos! And why do I keep getting 3 or more days old sauce? I spend good money here , but this is the last time! looking for another place to dine! Management needs to wake up and watch what your workers are doing! Really hope things change!“
“Wow what a great experience. Drove up from Overland Park to get this. The portions are huge and talk about some of the juiciest chicken ever! Then to add the rice and beans were on point. There is no place to sit inside to eat though so you have to take it elsewhere. With the 23 minute drive home it was still hot and delicious. We also got the salsa avocado which is mind blowing. Will definitely be back for this one“
“Food is delicious, it’s like eating home made food my mom use to make. The hand made tortillas are delicious as well. If you’re going on a weekend go early. They get busy due to their menudo. I would recommend to anyone who wants good authentic food. It is cash only heads up!“
“I just LOVE this little establishment! I've been coming here since I was a little kid, they have a great variety of foreign items and delicacies. Their kitchen is what makes me shine, in my opinion. They have the best and the best I mean, THE BEST AUTHENTIC Mexican food here! Especially those succulent Tortas ! If you want great food at a decent price, you must visit this joint! ?“
“I love this place! I've only had the veggie breakfast burrito but you can't go wrong!!!! They serve breakfast ALL DAY!!!! It's a small, quaint restaurant but I can tell they are packed on weekends! This is now a regular place for us to stop and grab a bite to eat.“
“We love their menudo. It's the cleanest and most flavorful menudo we've tasted in KC. My husband loves their asado gorditas. He's a fan of their asado spices as it's just the right amount of spice. He also adds the red sauce to make it even spicer. Although their asada & pastor is good- I love the shredded beef. I get shredded beef tacos, burritos and tortas (which are really good, too!) FYI- the pastor is ground pork with pineapple chunks. They get really busy on the weekend but service & cooks are swift!“
“Must visit place! Handmade fresh tortillas themselves are worth visiting for! Menudo, pozole, and tacos were authentic and tasty! Atmosphere not much to look at but this is one of those "hole in the wall" places people talk about. No pics to provide “
“Loved the food. She made me a chile relleno fresh. It was perfect and the rice and beans served with it were really really good - sometimes rice and beans and Mexican restaurants are just blase and flavorless but Frontera's beans and rice are excellent. The rice was fluffy and soft and had bits of vegetables in it for flavoring. My son had five soft tacos with the stomach meat as part of the filling. Lots of fresh lime slices and fresh cilantro. They had a red sauce that was very spicy and a green sauce that was nice and mild and creamy. We were each able to have a beer with our lunch. Everyone there from customers to staff were incredibly nice, friendly, and helpful.“
“When they first opened up, I took my dad there. He loved it every Saturday Sunday or during the week. Him and I would stop to eat there. Then my brother started going with us. Also on my respects to everybody that works there and the great food that prepare in the hospitality, I miss the days going there with my dad and brother they passed away. Sometimes I go by myself and sometimes I meet my family there. This is my favorite place to eat. It feels like home. My daddy loved this place to eat. May he and my brother rest in Peace amen“
