“Had a great time visiting Jefferson’s! The food was really good and we had great service. Lauren D. Was super attentive and really fun. She had great recommendations and was extremely personable. Can’t wait to try some more things on the menu.“
“Great food, great people, very friendly, personable, and tight knit. Everyone seems to enjoy themselves whether it’s the staff or the customers. The guy behind the bar is very fun, kind, and super efficient! I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for either a classic breakfast, or something out of your comfort zone. If you’re in Lawrence, give this place a shot!“
“I am a little conflicted about this place. But maybe they had an "off" night as it was quite busy Saturday night, and there was a rather frantic energy about the whole establishment. The building is very beautiful which makes for a nice atmosphere. We sat at a teeny corner table under a television. The table was facing the wall which was odd and awkward which took away from the overall experience because we had our backd to the restaurant. It was crowded and we felt a bit cramped, so my husband and I just made the best of it, and decided to be cozy and enjoy ourselves pretending to be in our own little nook. However, in an establishment where dinner plates cost nearly $40 each and an "elevated" dining experience is expected, these types of seating situations should not even be an option. Our server was very personable, professional, and nice. But it was clear that he was very busy, and attending to many guests on his own, so the service was rather slow which I cannot blame the gentleman for, but still I needs to be noted. We ordered the deviled eggs. They came on a bed of some type of bacon relish, which had a rather off-putting gamey flavor. The eggs themselves were delicious though. My husband ordered the braised beef, and it was sublime. I ordered from the restaurant week 3 course meal menu. I had the braised beef empanada, shrimp gnocchi and the coconut tres leches cake. The empanada came with kimchi, and I loved the different flavors and tastes of this little dish. The gnocchi dish was rather uninspired. The shrimp was quite chewy, but the texture of the gnocchi was perfect. The dish was just okay. The tresh leches cake was perfection in every way.Overall, the experience was not what I expected it would be for a restaurant of this caliber. It has all the makings of a place that can deliver an extraordinary dining experience. But last night, they fell just a bit shor of achieving that. I believe I will go back once more on a less busy night and give it another chance for dinner.“
“This is one of my favorite spots in Lawrence. I like their wraps and their barbecue mac 'n' cheese. I love getting their loaded cheese fries subbed with tots. Only for dine in though. They get soggy if you get them for takeout. The wait staff is always super friendly and attentive. The kitchen can be a bit slow at times but that's understandable with all the staffing issues going on in general. The atmosphere is fun, especially when it's busy. There are many TVs for watching sports.“
“What a find !! Very clean, great menu, top notch service and fabulous food. The meat was so good, we visited the butcher shop they own next door before we left the area. The tater tots and fries were done to perfection. Ice cold pop in a bottle. Very knowledgeable and proficient chef - we just can't say enough good and I will be back until I try everything on the menu. LOLKid-friendliness: Great kid menuParking: Park right in front -“
“I got a chili and cinnamon roll to go, it was absolutely amazing. The gentleman at the register was friendly and made small talk, it reminded me of back him. And the food is absolutely affordable for a broke college student like me. I will definitely be back.“
“Our server, Kiara was just amazing! The food is delicious too!Kid-friendliness: The atmosphere is very welcoming to kids! The servers and even other folks eating are just sweet as can be. You can tell this place brings in good people! Every time we've visited, they're just very friendly to kiddos :)“
“I have to give Big Mill 5 stars for their meatballs alone, they are fantastic! They are so good I returned several nights in a row just for them. The broccoli, on the other hand, misses the mark, and I recommend you skip the kale salad entirely. I'm sure I will return for more meatballs and to try other dishes.Service varied depending on who the waitress was and dining in versus take out.The restaurant has a bar area and a dining area and both are good depending on what mood you're in.“
“The Brooklyn Breakfast sandwich was the breakfast sandwich I didn't know I needed in life. The saltiness of the meat paired well with the creaminess of the egg yolk and the richness of the cheese! Excellent!! The Traditional breakfast was great. Perfectly crispy bacon, eggs were on point, and the toast and potatoes were fantastic. Definitely recommend!!“
“I was really excited about this restaurant but last night was a bit disappointing. We had a darling attentive waitress but we had to wait for over an hour for our food. We had told our servers we were in a hurry to get to the KU game. We didn't order anything that should have taken a long time. The pretzels were amazing dipped in a cheese sauce. I was underwhelmed with my burger. It was quite salty and I was very disappointed in the sweet potato fries. Maybe it was a bad night for them because the prior time I was there, it was all really good. I will definitely try it again and will hope it's a better night.“
“The red velvet cupcakes were a hit for my spouse's birthday! I enjoyed how tasty and filling they were, freshly baked. That said I have to warn that these are not diabetic-friendly; they are generous with the icing, which is on the sweet side. 11/10 will buy again though! (PS photo of spouse edited for privacy, but that's really pretty much how his smile looked IRL.)“
“I love this place. They serve really excellent food for a decent price. The specials are always good. They have really good burgers as well. Some of my favorite meals from here are the open face roast beef, the CFS, the smoked Carolina gold chicken sandwich. The servers are all very nice and take care of the guests extremely well.“
“The food is excellent. The staff are very friendly, courteous and efficient. The atmosphere is pleasant, although somewhat noisy at times, depending on the clientele. An excellent place to dine.Wheelchair accessibility: There is handicap parking at the north side of the building and the entrance is located on the west side.“
“This was the first time I've eaten at the big biscuit and I was pleased. The food was delicious. I had the cowboy (chicken fried chicken with eggs and cream gravy). It was pricey (17.99) but oh man was it filling and tasty. The menu selection had cheaper selections too as well as a wide selection of choices. The server was polite and helpful. He checked on us several times and made sure our drinks never emptied. If breakfast is one of your favorite meals, you won't go wrong choosing to eat here.“
“Stopped in for lunch today. Had the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich combo. So good. The soup had just a hint of zip; nice on a blustery day. The sandwich was made with several different cheeses, a blackberry jam, on artisan bread. Yes! This intimate joint is popular and special“
“A very modern but relaxing place to get beer and food. Our waitress was so kind and attentive. The food was amazing, I think their burger is probably one of the best ones I've ever had, the fries were also TO DIE FOR. I will absolutely be returning again!“
“Wonderful service, great food and good for the price. The staff are all so pleasant and helpful--not just there to earn a paycheck.Wheelchair accessibility: Not a ton of parking right by front door, but more around the corner. Staff was helpful in accommodating my mom's chair and helped with the doors as they are big and heavy.“
“Friday night the fresh halibut special was really delicious, perfectly cooked and flavorful. The generous portion was served with collard greens and a light lemon ginger buttery sauce. We also shared the mussels in miso ginger soup with bing slices. Bing is a crisp flat bread ... perfect with the soup. I think fries would go well with the mussels, but we couldn't resist the dumplings with hot chili sauce. So good! Looking forward to future seafood specials!“
