What can you say about Darrells? As a cajun I love these poboys from. Lake Charles. You have to try both. How does roast beef and sautéed shrimp taste so good together??? The special. Psssh wow. Make sure you get that jalapeño mayo too!!!! One of my favorite places.

We stopped here on our trip from Texas to Mississippi for lunch. The po boys were PHENOMENAL. The bread is baked in house fresh and you could tell. The shrimp was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. If you cook shrimp often you know how easy it is to overcook it. Amazing.Kid-friendliness: They offered options that aren’t po boys for picky kids.

I picked up my sandwich at 11:20 something y'all open at 11am why are my shrimps hard and burnt... these sandwiches cost way to much to be just throwing anything together giving it to costumers... I'm so mad I used my break for this
I've lived in lake charles for nearly 18 years and went to college at McNeese. Tuesdays nights were college night. The bar scene is nearly obsolete but still in presence. But however the bar and food itself is a real special place. Years ago before Mr. Darrell passed he and I were pretty good friends, and I was also close to his wife Susie and good friends the the entire staff and all. This place is family and the atmosphere is definitely a poboy bar that you'd love to sit in, hear stories and talk with friends all night. Needless to say the po boys are phenomenal. Service is amazing and atmosphere is none like any other mom and pops!Shrimp and turkey special, all the way with jalapeño mayo add crab boil, American cheese only! The brisket, the Darrells special, the surf n turf ... I mean you can't go wrong . Love this place (oh and don't forget to grab a two handfuls of napkins, you're gonna need em!)

I really enjoy stopping here when I’m in town but the drive through is not my favorite. Two days in a row there have been missing items. The original with gravy on the side one would think is muscle memory for the drive in staff but today two sandwiches both originals without gravy. Yesterday it was a big order for my clients lunch and missing a sandwich. Again when we eat in everything is perfect! With the exception of the shrimp sandwich Very disappointing! The shrimp is not fresh tasting. The sandwich just doesn’t work. A distinct difference between the drive thru and sitting in the restaurant.

I stopped here when passing Lake Charles and wow! The atmosphere was inviting! They were playing 2000s hip hop! All the girls who worked there had great customer service! And the sandwiches …. YALL! They were amazing so tasty! And it came out so fast! 5/5 would recommend!
