We went in Sunday morning and we were limited on time. Haley was super great and got us out quickly. So we went back on Monday and had a great time. Haley was our waitress again, I can’t say enough about her, when you go to the Red Slipper ask for her.Now for the food. The beignets come out fresh out of the fryer and are so good, this is one that you shouldn’t pass up. The grits and cheese are delicious, one of the best grits I’ve had. (I grew up in north East Tennessee eating grits)Biscuits and gravy, what can be said about this classic? Well you can say freshly baked biscuits smothered in sausage gravy, that will make you wish you could have them everyday. The bacon is perfectly cooked and the applewood smoke is just the right amount. The fried green tomatoes are cut to the perfect thickness and the cornbread coating is just the right thickness, then fried to perfection.I can’t finish this without mentioning the coffee, they have a blend made just for the Red Slipper and it is so good.As you can tell I’m very impressed with this place and you will be too. Between the staff and the food this place will become one of your favorite restaurants.

Everything was delicious, but I did not enjoy the Beignets, I'm from KC, I thought I was getting some real Beignets it was six little Biscuits with Powdered Sugar. I know not to order that in that store at all.

The Ruby Slipper Cafe was a great dining experience for the family. From being seated outside as an option (not because we had to like at Nice Guys without notice about a $25 credit card hold), to them having things for kids to play with as they wait for their food, I thought it was unique. The options for the breakfast drinks were amazing and paired well with the food, though you can't feel them as much (so the bar tender was more on the lighthanded side of fixing drinks). The pancakes were GREAT! The southern hashbrowns/potatoes were GREAT! I'm not sure about the Omelets because I don't like eggs like that, but I will take my family's word for it because they ordered omelets and liked them as well!My only issue with the food, because I know you are wondering why the 3, is because my daughter asked for fried catfish strips with her food and I wish we would have taken the picture so you could see what 3 thin pieces of MEAT, not fish (cause it was not catfish at all, catfish doesn't even look like that fried), they placed on her plate, for us to have to order her a burger. I also wish I would have said something to the waiter in restrospect about paying for something so unattractive and tasteless, they really put no effort into it.So although, the rest of the food was pretty awesome, the fish was unappealing and how they tried to present it as a meal to a 14 year old which looked like 1 piece of 1/3rd of a chicken tender from Canes served on a small round plate, I am just flabbergasted at who in the kitchen thought that was cool, especially in the South, for people from the South and for a New Orlean's portion.Needless to say I won't be visiting Ruby Slipper again and prefer Cracker Barrel if I'll get pancakes, cause at least I know we will receive the REAL MEAT we asked for and not that processed fried nastiness. Our server had great energy and was helpful except for taking off that nasty fish order, and the atmosphere was 4-star outside, we didn't sit inside.Parking: Parking was great for this location!Kid-friendliness: It was great because even though they didn't have kid menu options, from my memory, they did have things kids could go and play with outside and enjoy themselves.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible and dining.

Memory Lane: Wasn't there a location in Mid City close to South Carrollton? I remember getting a Brandy Milk Punch (my favorite cocktail from here, by the way) at a Ruby Slipper location within walking distance from where I used to live in Mid City. Anyways, years have passed and this restaurant keeps expanding. Sounds great!

Great sampling of Eggs Benedict dishes and a delicious Bloody Mary. Service was a little slow since I came in right at opening and they were still cookings some items for the day. However, the waitress was very clear that my food would be delayed. Well worth visiting!

Food was great but it seems like the management has changed. The manger on duty, Charles I believe was incredibly rude, rushed us to get to a table, snapped at the hostess and all but barked orders at everyone he came in contact with. It put me and my wife on edge and could tell most of the employees were on edge as well. He seems to be ruining what was once a great relaxed atmosphere. Theres no reason to treat employees like that.

Update:I'm not sure what changed in two years, but the food seems to have gone downhill a bit. The French Toast bites that we ordered were literally soaked in grease. I took one bite and got a mouthful of oil. Those got sent back immediately. Our Biscuit & Gravy breakfast with fried chicken added was solid...my husband ate it all. I ordered an omelet that came with grits and a biscuit. My biscuit was definitely not the best. It was getting hard around the outside and had a rubbery chewiness to it. I feel like I got a leftover biscuit from the day before. Our service was fast and friendly, so for that I say thank you. My ding on atmosphere is that their dining room chairs are awful! They are not made for a wider backside. ? They cut into you because they're narrow, so I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat.YUM! All of the dishes here have a great Cajun twist on traditional breakfast items. The cocktails are half off for their morning Happy Hour(7am to 10 am, I believe). We loved everything we ordered, which was a lot. We got two cocktails(which were $5 instead of $10 each), 3 appetizers, and 1 entree that we split. It was $60 total. Well worth it! Our server was also very fast and friendly! So enjoyable and super glad we stopped in!
