“Go to the Rusty Nail for exceptional bourbons, knowledgeable, friendly staff, great prices & excellent service... it's well worth would it takes to find it. Also they have a 25% off whiskey Wednesdays!!! Wife and I happened to get there b4 opening on Wednesday. One of the staff ladies took us around inside to show us what Bourbons they had available. Treated us very very kindly...!!! Went back later after a terrible experience at Barrel proof and we just sat there for about 2 hours and enjoyed ourselves. One thing we didn't read in the details is that this is a 21+ place, so my spouse and I had to swap around to get our order. My spouse had the alligator sandwhich, which he said was amazing, I got the oysters, which were amazing! Check this place out!“

Daiquiri Chef Bar • $
3738 Downman Rd, New Orleans

“This was one of my favorite locations to get daiquiris in NOLA. Not because the drinks were good (sweet is an understatement), but because the actual spot was something out of a movie. It wasn't in the most obvious location (literally in a back road) and was totally ratchet in more ways than one. There was truly never a dull moment at Daiquiri Chef. Service was hot and cold. Some days the folks behind the counter were friendly and welcoming, other days it was a different set of folks who seemed confused that I would be here. The latter wasn't as warm, and samples weren't offered but I would end up getting something anyway. The interior of the place was bare bones: a slot machine randomly in the corner, a bit of a drab ambiance that felt like someone's house, and a number of daiquiri machines spinning in the background. Speaking of the daiquiris, they were potent and sweeter than they were boozy. I wasn't sold on them initially, but the price made it easy to consider this location over the pricier ones in the French Quarter. When in doubt, the purple rain was the one to get. They've since closed. While I'm sad to know I won't be able to enjoy the scene anymore, I know there's a hidden gem of a daiquiri spot lurking somewhere in the Big Easy.“

Famous Door Sports Bars • $$

“I always have a good time here, and feel very at home whenever I'm in NOLA. Good music most of the day and all night into the wee hours. The performers put out a lot of positive energy and the ones at night engage the audience. Evening and late night performances are mostly popular cover songs, well sung and played along with background tracks. Sounds cheesy but it's awesome fun. Afternoon you could happen upon a righteous blues band. I always feel safe and comfortable here. No cover charge, bands work for tips. Hardworking staff. Heart of Bourbon st at Conti.“

“Definitely has a neighborhood bar vibe, tucked away in the French Quarter. You know it has a good burger when the local service industry folks go there, after a shift to grab a burger. Service was super friendly, there were 5 of us stopping for a quick lunch. Seating at the bar and ordering at the bar, pretty easy rules to follow. Burgers were good and a great price for coming with fries. 2 of us ordered peanut butter, with a $1 up charge so it would have been nice to have a good smear of peanut butter verses a light coating on the bun. This is an annual trip for us, so next year we will definitely stop back again.“

“Stopped by Beachcorner last night. It was very busy and a little loud. There was a little wait for the food because it was only two gentlemen working which was totally understandable. There was one guy cooking the food and making drinks lol the great part was the customer service. These guys had a system set up and both worked well together. No matter how busy it would get, everyone was given great customer service and both gentlemen smiled the entire time. The burgers were good just not seasoned enough. Lol We still enjoyed everything. My friend ended up ordering more burgers to go. It was her first time. Thank you to the gentleman for making my green tea shot ?“
