The website menu items and pricing is out of date. The Crab salad does not contain much crab..get the regular salad. One salad is good for 3 people. The Oyster Mosca and Shrimp Mosca are must get selections. The pasta and red sauce, too. Last night, the Chicken a la Grande was overdone..pass on this item. I was disappointed they did not have Sangiovese ( on their website menu)....they substituted a Cab Sauv. The pineapple fluff is a rather unusual item. Excellent family style Italian restaurant in an old house outside the city. Get the chicken, get the spaghetti, get the oysters and a glass of wine, pick apart some bread and pass it all around the table.
Mosca's is one of those unique, iconic New Orleans restaurants. Old, funky, but always an interesting place to eat. The menu is small and the fare is standard oily Italian, but oh so good when everything is available. This Saturday there was no crab for the crab salad. This was due to the price of crab and not wanting to have to charge customers the exorbitant price. This was too bad, as this is their signature salad.
