“Loved this place for brunch, loved they served coffee in a fresh french press at the table. Breakfast nachos to die for.... I was so upset I got full and couldn't eat anymore.Look forward to going back and try the lunch and dinner menus! ?“
“Driving off the 122 and see a stone cow? Pull on in for some unexpected fun, good food, ice cream and beer. They are always coming up with new beers and are a fun good group of people working there. Play area for the kids and adults. Live music.. Nice little shining star in the countryside of MA.“
“Although you wouldn't think much of the outside of this restaurant, the food can't be beat! We visited this restaurant last summer and I don't remember exactly what we had, I know we've been wanting to go back ever since! I know we had seafood and it was very fresh and for a small restaurant, the menu was very diversified. Can't wait to go back! We live quite far from Barre, so we'll take a road trip there soon!“
“Wife and I had some of the best prime rib tonight! Was absolutely super tasty! Always add gravy to the mashed! Tonight’s Brussel Sprouts were on point! Service is great as always, they all move as fast as they can go for sure! Super busy as always on a Saturday night with a line out the door when we left. Arrived at 4:30 and was told 20 min wait and only waited 11 min.“
“The most delicious pastry and lunch place around! I haven't had breakfast but I'm sure it's also amazing. Authentic tasting pastries. Croissants taste like their from Paris. Absolutely the most delicious bakery I've been to since I lived in Germany over 30 years ago.“
“There are not many choices for restaurants in the Rutland and Spencer areas. I find black & white has an extremely diverse menu. And it's almost impossible not to find something that you like. Definitely a place worth going to the ean get very busy. Best make reservations if you can. Particularly on weekends. They do have some options such as prime rib that are only served on certain days of the week. Overall, a very good restaurant with lots of choices. I recommend it.“
“This was definitely some of the best tasting food i have ever had. The staff were friendly and overall made the experience better. The overall vibe of the place is really good and I heavily recommend this place to anyone looking for good chicken or burgers. Definitely will be returning“
“I absolutely love this restaurant! I try to make sure I go at least once a week because I just can’t get enough of their homefries. My kiddos love the huge chocolate chip pancakes with whip cream! The staff is always so friendly and we never wait long! We were so happy to see them open back up on Sundays!“
“We ordered for the first time recently since under new ownership. I was definitely a longtime fan for years of Whistle Stop, when it was in business by the previous owner. We decided on take out for lunch on 12/01. I ordered an omelet with cheese, onions, mushrooms. My partner got a cheeseburger & fries. The person who took our order over the phone sounded friendly & told me it would be ready in about 15-20 mins (accurate estimate). When we pulled up, we noticed many vehicles parked, so it was a busy Friday. Upon entering, we saw several customers, both at tables & the counter, yet no employees. We stood at the counter awaiting service to pick up our order, when a staff appeared from in back, after a few mins of waiting. The young lady seemed polite & rang us up at the register. It cost under $20 for the order, which was reasonable. It wasn't until we got back home & opened our to go containers, that we noticed how they forgot about the french fries, which I asked for with my fiancés burger. I know it's a small mistake, but it still was one, so I called to bring it to their attention. They offered to make some, but unfortunately we didn't have the time to go back. She did apologize, so I was glad at least for that. We also noticed after a few bites that the burger was not medium well, but more medium rare (we had requested "medium well"). However, my omelet was very good & it came with rye toast (bread type is customer's choice) as well as home fries, which I gave to my fiancé seeing as they forgot his fries with the cheeseburger. Overall, our experience was decent & we will try again. Hopefully next time we'll get everything we ordered & our food will be cooked to our preference, if offered specifics (like with how the burger was cooked). Makes me miss the way it used to be, but hopefully we'll grow to really enjoy the Whistle Stop with new owners. Worth a try! First impression could have been a bit better though to be honest.Kid-friendliness: Mickey mouse pancakes.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp located at the entrance.“
“All around was a great time and experience eating here. Gotta say the tater tots were really really good. Nice and dense but not thick, great potato taste, crispy, perfect. The balsamic chicken was a very good dish as well. Asparagus was a little thin and slightly overcooked on the grill, but they were still very tasty. The bartender was great, she kept good conversation with everyone at the bar. Great place, would definitely like to come back if I'm in the area again.“
“As reliable and tasty as Friendship and Ice Crean can possibly be! In French, 'Parfait!'.Try the chocolate chunk mint sundae! My kind, lovely and enterprising server gave me a big helping ic then when I asked "and walnuts, please?"“
“We had a great experience here and highly recommend it! We were in town for a wedding and loved our stay here. The Garden View room was so cool with its 11 windows wrapping 3 walls. The bed was super comfy and the window AC worked well, which is crucial for me. Joe was lovely and always available to help. We enjoyed sitting in the living room with some friends before bed. Joes cooked to order breakfast was delicious. I can tell Joe pays attention to detail and it shows. We would gladly stay here again.“
