We came here for restaurant week special. The food quality is good but taste is mediocre. Dessert is not satisfying due to its limited selection. Don’t order the Floating Island. Service could really use some improvement. I went to the one in Brookline before and had a great time so it’s a shame that my experience with this one during restaurant week is so disappointing.

The food was five stars, very good, I had Le Blanquette and it was delicious. The atmosphere was four stars because it is very cozy and I loved the sailboats theme, but we were a large group and scrunched us into a corner where it was hard to get in or out. The service was three stars because, after being very explicit about being strictly vegetarian and asking what options there were, they served my friend a dish that ended up having meat in it. I'm a pretty lenient guy, but you can't mess up something like that. They did not charge us for it and acknowledged their mistake, which redeemed them a bit.

Mediocre food and rude staff. There's better options for French cuisine nearby. I will never go back.

Excellent french cuisine. The "filet de boeuf" and "boeuf bourguignon" were excellent and you can believe me (I am French and know very well what french cuisine means)! Service was excellent (very professionnal and very friendly). I recommend this restaurant to everyone

Friendly place with a small but well-balanced menu. Good bread, nice choice of wines. A few dishes outstanding, most good to very good. Main fault I have come across is underpowered flavor in some dishes -- a risotto, for example. La Voile can be noisy, especially in an evening when it's full. Some pleasant outdoor tables.

Went for lunch. Shared the cheese plate with a friend and had the entrecote with a glass of bordeaux for my main lunch. The food was fantastic and exactly what I would expect from a bistro in Paris. Quaint setting and great service as well. Would love to come back during warmer months and enjoy lunch on their outdoor patio while people watching along Newbury

I had dinner with my wife and brother. Two of us got the three course menu, and one of us got the Dover sole. The Dover sole and foie gras pate were exceptional, and the rest of the food was very good. The other dishes we had were the beet salad, the tenderloin and the duck, as well as two of the three desserts.

An old school gem.

We were celebrating a Birthday and overall we enjoyed our dining experience at La Voile. The wait staff was attentive without being overbearing. The food was excellent, especially the escargot and the broiled scallops. If you like French foods in a somewhat elegant but not stuffy atmosphere, La Voile will not disappoint.

The food is generously portioned, delicious and non-fussy- great onion soup, seared foie gras was a delicious bargain plenty to share- the mussels were also fantastic and bountiful- couldn't finish my dinner! Will return with bigger appetite

What can I say! La Voile on Newbury Street (not the one in Brookline) is not just another French restaurant … it’s the best dining experience I can think of in Boston and reasonably priced. My family’s favorites are the escargot, french onion soup, Dover Sole and fillet mignon. Go there and be pampered if you can get a reservation but plan ahead as they book up weeks in advance. The owners are fellow mariners and if you love sailing or powerboat cruising as much as we do read their backstory and smile.

Last week we took a quick trip into Boston to visit with an ‘old school chum' of Julie's and they chose La Voile for lunch; Nicholas with support from Ilhan provided an excellent time for everyone. This trip was dinner to celebrate Julie's birthday. Ilhan was back and as lovely and friendly as always. Once we were at our table Michel took over and brought us through a perfect meal with excellent wine selections to match (they even had a wine we'd recently looked for but were not able to have, so we splurged). Julie rarely passes by the La Terrine to start and I have been enjoying the special soup, this time it was corn and lovely. Knowing to pace, Julie had the mussels for her meal and I treated myself to the blanquette which was amazing. To finish Julie had her cheese selection and I had the chocolate I love; but not to be outdone Michel outdid himself and provided something special to finish making for a perfect birthday for Julie. Thank you so much, Bill and Julie

An evening at La Voile is a trip to Paris and its fabulous cuisine. This time I had the prime rib, and it was just right, especially paired with a cabernet sauvignon. Everything about this restaurant is perfect, and after a concert at Symphony Hall, it's sublime.

Returned for another fantastic time. Staff were personable and welcoming. I enjoy the layout and location. Food was phenomenal. Parking is well....Boston, but that isn't a reflection on them. Wouldn't hesitate to go again.

This was authentic French food freshly made. Professional sommeliers halo with wine selection to the extent you require that. The presence of sommeliers in restaurants these days is becoming more scarce and that was a key reason we selected this restaurant. One downgrade was for the noise level but the restaurant helped us find a quieter spot.
