“Place is same as it was 30 years ago. Good average Chinese food. One of the good ones left in newton and needham that you don't get ripped off. Food is not fancy and in today's world good prices.Went for lunch today. Lunch specials from $11.50 to $14.“
“This is my all time favorite restaurant for Chinese food I'll get it everytime. Never have been disappointed with their food. I recommend trying their salad it has this amazing dressing on top that can't be beat. I also believe that they have the best phad thai in my opinion compared to all others I have tried.“
“I always order takeout, but Mandarin is always filled with customers. I'm going to dine in one day. The food is always good, great variety on the menu. The ladies at the front desk who take my order are always pleasant. Try it, you won't be disappointed.“
“This has to be the best Chinese restaurant I've eaten at outside of San Francisco's Chinatown. On our first visit we shared the excellent Hunan style prawns with the fabulous Szechuan spicy wontons appetizer. Our second visit we ate from the luncheon specials. Everything has been great, but the dumplings in the wonton soup and the appetizer are our absolute favorite!“
“Wusong Road is such a delight! The Wonderful classic tiki atmosphere transports you right out of Harvard square. The drinks (classic tiki and modern) are really top notch and served in whimsical tiki mugs. The food is equally fun and delicious with some great takes on Chinese and Polynesian classics. Every experience I’ve had with Wusong has been wonderful.“
“Great and tasty food with amazing quick service. The golden fried wontons a must try. Dipping them with the sweet sauce that comes with it makes the meal so complete. The general Gau's Chicken is tender and tasty. Sweet and spicy so delicious. The Vegetarian fried rice is to die for. I highly recommend the Mandarin Café.“
“Lot of variety. Good ambiance. Plenty of lunch specials. Large food portions served. Very clean restaurant. I particularly enjoyed the Kung Pau Chicken served with fried rice, hot & sour Soup & Egg Roll. Staff is very cordial. We will definitely visit this Chinese restaurant again.“
“I really liked the food and enjoyed the ambience a lot. Good open space and the food was very tasty! Wait time was a bit long but service was good and food was worth the wait. I tried in flushing before and honestly it never disappoints. Really good Szechuan style foodDietary restrictions: Accommodating to allergiesParking: Parking in the area is hard to findKid-friendliness: Good space for familyWheelchair accessibility: open space“
“Steamed dumplings were great. I don't think they believed me when I said I wanted my food very spicy; I guess if you want spice here you need to really try hard to convince them you know what you're talking about.Wheelchair accessibility: First floor restaurant; no steps between parking lot and door.“
“I have been introduced to this place years ago and I'm unsure why I'm leaving my first review. Love this place and I tend to come back multiple times a week for some spicy broth and crab sticks. Service is amazing here and the quality is superb. Currently forming this review now as I head there now with my partner for the second time this week and it's only Tuesday. Night time is definitely much more busy than the day time but the ambiance at night made it so much cozier than the times when we come in for lunch. Thanks la mei!“
“Dined here on New Year's Eve, so we decided to take the night off from taking glamour shots. Jindu's piece de resistance is their sushi, given the outstanding reviews, amount of tables ordering and exquisite presentation. We ordered drinks, which were excellent, and a few appetizers. The bartender forgot to add a key ingredient to one of our drinks, but quickly rectified. If our review was solely based on the food, it would be 3 stars, but the warm greeting, excellent customer service & ambiance were deserving of an extra one. The hot & sour soup was served cold. Upon request it was returned piping hot. Good flavor, but glutinous texture. The mixed green salad was fresh, but lacked dressing. Some of the flavorful, boneless pork ribs were tender, albeit served cold w/the majority very fatty. Their crab rangoon were good, just not our type of batter. The pan fried gyoza were excellent. We'll definitely return to try their sushi and lunch specials.“
“It was very quiet when I visited, I had been out and needed to get food and was craving Chinese food. I have many allergies, and they were very caring about what I ordered. Food was tasty and pentiful. Price was about average. Service was good.Dietary restrictions: They accommodated my allergies.“
“Have been living in Boston for 8 years and this is the best Chinese food I have had out here. Might be the best general tsaos chicken I have had anywhere ever. Big portions, fair price, fresh, cooked to perfection. My go to is the general tsao dinner special w/ pork fried rice, crab rangoon and beef sticks. Comes with enough food for 2 meals. Ken and his wife are the best!“
“Feel like something's changed in the past year or so. The food doesn't seem as cared for and has lost some of it's charm. not sure if just a bad day or if the chef has changed but other way feeling a little sad. still tasty but not the WOW it was “
“Tried take out this week from this spot: Sauteed Chicken W Long Horn Pepper In Scallion Pancake Roll - highly recommend Mini Juicy Buns W Pork(6) - very tasty Mala Spicy Beef - good - a lot of beef, prepare. Overall, very tasty items all around. I liked the mini pork buns and the scallion pancake rolls the most, but all probably worth a try based on experience with what I had.“
“Great food and service. Definitely authentic food. The medium spicy is a little spicier than other places, so do be aware. The kungpao chicken was a great dish, a little saltier than normal. The pork soup and soup dumplings were on point. Def a good place to try.“
“I visited Boston Soup Dumplings last Sunday for a late lunch/early dinner. We were seating right away since it was around 4:30 PM, not sure if there's usually a longer wait during peak times! We got the Sichuan spicy pork wontons in green pepper oil, steamed pork soup dumplings, and wonton noodle soup. Everything was delicious and I will be back to try more soon. The spicy pork wontons were my favorite, they were perfectly spicy. I was even dipping my wontons from the soup into the green pepper oil because I couldn't get enough. The restaurant was very clean and the service was quick.“
“Excellent food and equally good service. We ordered the hotpot with potatoes and asked to have some extra veggies added. Our server gave her honest opinion regarding which veggies would be better left out and what worked with the potatoes. The hotpot was delicious. The veggie dumplings and the sushi was also very good. My favorite was the hot and sour soup. It was delicious, very tasty and comforting. I would definitely recommend this place!“
“This is a long overdue review since I first ate at Grasshopper when they opened in the late 90's and I quickly became a regular both for eat in and take-out. Fast forward to 2024 and it's a huge favorite for both my vegetarian and non-veg family members, kids and adults alike. My personal favorites are the delight soup and "beef" and broccoli dish with brown rice. We usually try a new dish in addition to our usual, and have yet to find one we don't like. With the generous servings and reasonable prices, we often buy a couple of extra meals to take home for leftovers. The staff is friendly, the ambiance is nothing special, but that's not why you eat at Grasshopper. I hope this place continues on for many many years to come.“
“Amazing restaurant specially with the uniqueness and delicious "halal" (clean pure healthy food tradition experience there!) Meet Mr. Noory (I think he is Manager?) who has been veey generous. He is also very patiently explain each characters of food there which I have never experienced before. The price is also not too pricey...But the quality is like five diamond restaurant?????❤️❤️❤️ I was grateful when I visited during the snow. So I can explore more of their amazing delicious festive experience!!!“
“We ordered the beef dry wok and the spicy beef pot, both food were extremely tasty. The Mala Wok here is much better than the ones from Mala Restaurant right across the street, the portion is a bit smaller than Mala Restaurant, but flavor wise, was much better. The beef pot was also great, though not as good as Kung Fu Mala which is also across the street. I speak Cantonese and so do the staffs there, and they were extremely friendly and nice. Definitely should check this place out, extremely underappreciated, will definitely come back to try other items on their menu. 10/10“
“This place is one of the more popular hot pot restaurants in the Boston area. There is a small parking lot off the side street if you are lucky. The restaurant is huge with bar seating having individual pots and tables with shared pots. Service was attentive and quick. The house broth is included and any flavor is an extra charge. I got the A5 beef regular combo and it came with a choice of noodles and assorted vegetables. The udon noodles and beef were fresh and not frozen. It did give an impression of higher quality than other places. The flavor broth is really good and the portion for the regular meat combo was a good size for one person. You should get a regular combo for each person.“
“Food great and big serving. The crispy duck not oily and very tender. Huge menu. They serve wine and Asian beers. Our server very attentive and courteous.Very tight seating and we are seated an inch away from the entrance which can get too congested.Overall experience was good. Definitely coming back.“
“Great place, great food, ok prices, but the wait times can get crazy and they don't use their waitlist app.Wheelchair accessibility: Not a very wheelchair accessable place as the aisles between tables is very narrow. They do have a wheelchair lift to get inside but the door without steps is locked from the outside so you have to go up the steps to get inside anyway.“
“The food there is always so delicious and the staff there are always so polite!!! The friendly man (not sure if he is the owner) took good care of us by providing us plastic aprons in case we stained our shirts, gave me another spoon without me having to ask, and overall provided great service. Food + service was a 10/10! My fav place to go now!!!“
“Best Chinese food ever! I ordered chicken and broccoli, amazing! Also ordered orange chicken (medium heat) another amazing dish! Tender chicken, but not greasy. I ordered and paid online directly through their website and picked up myself. Order was ready on time, staff friendly and accommodating. 5 “
“Ordered the dry hot pot and garlic bok choy. Both were very good and service was good excellent. Mala hot pot could’ve been spicier, but they have chili oil on the side if you’d like to up the spice. Added pulled noodles and they were the perfect texture. Would come back for sure.“
“I recently dined at this Chinese restaurant that left a delightful impression. The diverse menu offered many different flavorful dishes.. The attentive service and inviting environment added to the overall enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend trying their signature dishes for a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine.Vegetarian options: Pretty good amount of options for those who are vegetarian!“
“We typically go elsewhere, but Christmas Eve our usual spot was closed and Joy Luck came through for us! We loved it and it’s become our new favorite. Veggie lo mein was amazing and my husband is obsessed with their hot and sour soup. Portions are generous, and while the prices seem slightly higher than other Chinese places around here($50 for 2 noodle dishes, soup, and an entree), we will definitely go back because the portions are large and the quality is really good. Sometimes they underestimate how long it will take so I recommend going to pick up like 10 min after they estimate it’ll be ready.“
“After learning it was my birthday, they kindly gave me a free bowl of noodles for longevity. And when we were cutting the cake, they played the 'Happy Birthday' song for me (we were the last table in the restaurant, and all the staff were clocking out, so it wasn't a disturbance for other customers). All in all, it was a happy, unforgettable birthday night. Highly recommend— the food is authentic, and the service is incredible. ❤️“
“Absolutely thrilled with my new favorite Mala and Sichuan food spot in the Boston area! I was not expecting all the dishes I ordered to be this fantastic. The standout for me was the dried stir-fried chicken with spicy Capsicum – it was so good that I couldn't resist ordering two servings that day. A must-try for any foodie in the area!“
“I know y'all go for the chicken, which I have yet to try myself, but y'all. Y'all. You have to try their drinks! These are also made fresh to order and MORE than worth the wait!!!I checked this place out for the first time partly because my buddy has been here plenty of times and he vouched for it, yet he's never tried the drinks! I wanted an authentic milk tea, or just some kind of nice refreshing beverage from a local spot, you know? Well, I got what I came for, okay?!!I started out with the Fresh Black Grape Tea, which was definitely fresh and made right in front of me, and definitely grapey. I found it having a good amount of sweetness, and it's just an awesome drink to get. Simple as that. There are grape bits at the bottom, so if you aren't too keen on that type of texturized experience or potentially getting something stuck on your teeth in the middle of your hot date, you may want to refrain from ordering this one. Otherwise, ball out!The next jawns I got were the Strawberry Milk Tea and the Passionfruit Slush, because I couldn't just stop at one.The Passionfruit Slush was super different than what I expected. I'm unsure of if it was just how it was made when I went, but there was very little to almost zero sweetness to it. They also must have put milk in there. I didn't watch them make it, but that's kind of what it looked and tasted like. I would actually order this again. It was smooth and so... different! Lol~The Strawberry Milk Tea was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. It looks exactly how I wanted it to look like, and it tasted even better!!! The whole thing was just FANTASTIC. It tasted CUTE! That's the only best way that I can put it. It is quite literally what it is called. Strawberry Milk Tea. It's light, refreshing and the flavor/sweetness I found to be right in between the black grape tea and the passionfruit slush. Just. Right. All in all, I obviously had a spectacular experience here and service was cool. I will be back for that strawberry milk tea specifically. Thank you.“
“Food is exceptional! Scallion pancakes & wings were very good, but the spicy braised beef w/ handmade noodle and braised pork belly w/ rice were amazing! We will definitely be returning to try out everything on the menu ?? Extra points for a very tasty brown sugar “
“I have been to DLY several times this past year and it is one of my favorite mala hotpot places. It is a newer spot and I like it's small, nicely decorated atmosphere. The first time I went I was shocked by how spicy the medium spice mala broth is (in a good way)! They do tell you it is spicy and it makes me sad to see people give lower reviews only because the broth was spicy because that's what szechuan/chongqing broth is! Theirs is especially spicy though even compared to medium at other places in Boston.I only get the spicy mala broth here. One thing I like is that after 10 they give 20% off discount! Prices are still comparable to other premium hotpot places but the late hours and discount sets it apart from other places.I love their knife cut noodles and it's only $1.99 per order. Other ingredients I have gotten are the beef plate and boneless short rib, bok choy, tofu skin, tofu puff, and enoki mushrooms. They also have other specialty dishes like milky beef, beef tripe, etc. Although it is not my favorite spot of all time in Boston, I think the late night hours and late night discount make it better than other places in some ways. The service here is quick and everyone is friendly and attentive to all your needs. Highly recommend this spot but definitely don't get the spicy broth if you don't like extremely numbing spice.“
“Nice lunch from JP Kitchen today. Food was cooked perfectly and was ready in less than 15 minutes.Ordered a large chicken finger - $11.95 - received 12 large chicken fingers cooked perfectly. :DOrdered a large crab Rangoon - $11.95 - received 11 tasty rangoons.Ordered a large Shrimp Lo Mein - $11.95 - got a nice LO Mein - happy surprise made with mushrooms and a reasonable amount of small (Quarter size) shrimp (peeled no tails).Condiments included: 1 Quarter size mustard cup. 2 Silver Dollar size duck sauce cups. 5 soy packets. 5 Fortune cookies.I placed the order via their website on a Monday at about 3pm (before the rush hour start) and paid with cash when I got there. There was no confusion. I asked in the comments for extra mustard sauce and the nice lady kindly brought me extra no charge and asked me if that was enough.I'm glad to have tried this restaurant and am happy they are in the neighborhood. Based on this order, I wholeheartedly endorse this restaurant to order food for take-out. Note I do not think they are open for dine-in.“
“Blue Orchid is our local go-to for Chinese take-out. I would give their food a solid 4- - they use chicken breasts, and their lo mein is not too oily or salty. My kids love their noodles. I always order delivery through Door Dash, and our food is always delivered within 30 minutes and for that, I given an extra star!“
“I love this place, have being customer of theirs since they opened, and they have grown so much and really well. I didn't have any complaints about anything every time I came. I would definitely highly recommend this spot for a nice downtime. Great to have friend hangout times, for really anything. The new food additions are really good! Service is awesome, very kind people. Great choice of music too! They have piano and guitar!!!!Kid-friendliness: My sister loves it here, she is 11! Awesome place for family and friends!“
“When you want to be seen in a cool place, pick Blossom Bar. When you want a top knotch Sichuan dish, pick Blossom Bar. You won’t be disappointed. Great food, a special buzz of excitement in the restaurant. They are a go-to place that won’t disappoint.“
“Ding’s Kitchen is one of my go to Chinese restaurants in the Newton area. They offer hotpot, traditional Chinese food and dim sum (during lunch). The staff is attentive and friendly.I come once every other month with my in laws and we never had a bad time. I would recommend checking them out for all three of their unique services. You won’t be disappointed“
“The new hot spot for Sichuan food in BrooklineFood:For apps- Szechuan steamed homemade pork dumplings, wontons in chili oil, hot and sour soup, dan-dan noodlesFor entrees- MUST try the Szechuan hot sauce style with chicken, it just melts in your mouth and is packed with spice and flavorAlso recc the kung pao chickenWouldn't recc the diced chicken with chili pepper- it was too dry and mostly fried batterOther:Friendly staff, fast serviceFamilial touch to the ambianceTLDR;Come here for a satisfying authentic Sichuan meal in the Brookline area“
“One of the best Hot pot Buffet all you can eat meat, seafood, salmon unlimited veggies, hot food entree, egg rolls, stir fried Udon, sesame rolls and ice cream. Great place to host a business catering event and cocktail or birthday party. My daughter, turn 18 and she loves the server name Johnston, very professional, cleanliness and friendly service. I highly recommend this place with out a doubt. Worth your money spent and food is yummy!“
“I went for lunch with my son. Nice, clean interior. We shared salt and pepper shrimp. It was salty, perfectly fried and delicious! My son had pork buns. They were great and a large portion! We shared pan fried dumplings. Also delicious! I had Kung pao chicken for lunch. My son had general tsaos chicken. Both were really tasty and freshly made. No jarred sauces. We will definitely be back!!“
“The Great Wok is Best in Wellesley without a doubt. They’re a star in the overall area for anything Chinese/Japanese inspired & their bar is top notch. Just fantastic. This restaurant has been under new ownership for about 1 year. Since converting to “The Great Wok” from their former name “The Wok”, offerings of food, drinks, and ambiance have significantly increased. Chef Bruce is a legend in the industry with 25 years of experience. “Great” is an excellent addition to the name and rightfully deserved. In case you did not know, they now offer a solid sushi menu. Like many other customers at The Great Wok, you are sure to come back often. I will post some photos of dishes I have enjoyed and I’m always open to make a recommendation. Hats off to this location.“
“Dined in and was pleasantly surprised with how fast the service was! The food was spectactular, everything was freshly made, was well-seasoned, and came out piping hot. The fresh handmade noodles were the perfect chewy texture I was hoping for. The service was friendly, attentive, and warm. Would highly recommend dining in if you don’t mind the slight breeze from the door opening and closing from folks going in and out.“
“It’s DEFINITELY a takeout-only place, but the food is PHENOMENAL, and I’ve tried multiple things on the menu. My only critique is the spring rolls have too much 5-spice. Otherwise, the service and food is amazing, they’re very accommodating, and they were SOOOOOO outstanding during covid. They fed us all and kept us feeling a little more normal during a hard time. I remember being told how to make a home remedy by the front desk person (I think he was the owner, or manager at least) and he told me why he kept an open jar on the counter with onions and other things in it , I hope he knows what customer this is. There was a different, younger man at the desk today, and he was VERY friendly and efficient as well. I’m watching my husband eating it now and he’s enjoying every bite. That’s what made me think to make a review. Thank you for being a great establishment“
“My coworkers took me out to eat here, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was extremely friendly and fun, and the atmosphere was nice. The food is Chinese American, which isn't my favorite, but both the drinks and the food were very good.I didn't get to order much, but the taste and friendliness of the staff made me want to come back with my wife for a full taste of their dinner.Tldr: friendly and attentive staff really made a huge impact, and the food and drinks were great for an after work hangout. Looking forward to trying thier dinner.Parking: Lots of parking around.“
“There are a couple of things to get past on your first visit but it's well worth it. Firstly, expect long wait times, as the noodles are boiled freshly in front of you and the bowls are made to order. It's worth the wait. I got the szechuan beef noodle soup and it hit. They have a microwave safe container. I put the leftovers in the fridge and heated it up for dinner. It's the priciest place in the food court but is by far the best. It deserves to be somewhere better. Coming back as we grow into winter and days get colder.Oh yeah, the other thing to get past is that you have to order at Dragon Bowl. Hint: it's the register door next door.“
“My new favorite go to place. The food is very tasty, not greasy and well prepared. Definitely the best Chinese food in Westwood and surrounding areas. We had crab ragoons, , beef terayaki, kung pao shrimp, general gao shrimp and street curry noodles. Sooo good . “
“Ordered twin lobster special, fried rice and wonton soup. The lobster and rice were delish but the soup was overcooked and awful. I ordered takeout and when I went to pick up the order, the place was packed with a long line out the door, mostly with Asian people. I knew this restaurant had to be terrific!“
“This is our go to chinese food restaurant (take out only!). We have been ordering from here for at least 10 years, and honestly have never had a bad experience. This is american chinese food- but it is delicious! Some of our favorites are the dinner for one sesame chicken, boneless ribs, crab rangoon, and garlic shrimp.“
