“I gotta say I went here a a couple nights ago right before they closed and years ago there was an ad campaign for Subway about "sandwich artists" and I have to say the guy who made my sandwich truly was one. Everything was placed perfectly and the whole thing was fantastic. It seems funny writing a review for such a big chain but the person who was working there did a great job and I wanted to say thanks, that sandwich totally hit the spot!“
“Honestly still in shock. Just went here today for the first time. A great sandwich for under $15 AND in Kendall Square/Cambridge? Amazing.Update:I wrote this review halfway through my sandwich because it was so good and I needed people to know. Now that I'm done I'm left wanting more. Thanks for the great lunch!“
“After being unable to give a phone order for takeout at a snooty vegan place nearby that, snootily, doesn’t accept them, we were welcomed at Billy’s, even though they were surely busy when we called. When we arrived, we asked if they might have a bathroom we could use even though there was absolutely no apparent public restroom. Thing is, my friend is mostly blind and likes to drink coffee, meaning I always need to look for a place for her to go. Several employees went out of their way to accommodate us in their very tiny prep and kitchen spaces as we moved through to use their private restroom in the back. ?It was so very kind and thoughtful and if I could give them 10 stars I would! ?Simple consideration, like answering the phone to take an order and letting someone use the restroom even if it inconveniences their operations for a moment, demonstrates LOVE is still alive in the world and it can be found at Billys! OMG, and then there was the food!!! The omelettes were amazing, the home fries were delicious and when we wished we had gotten ketchup with our takeout, there it was in the bag, along with the extra napkins for my friend. And don’t get me started on the blueberry pancakes… Amazing!!!?The value was unbeatable and even as we were walking out the door, the love continued as I was carefully handed two coffees in a carrier and our paper bag of food as they could see I was leading my friend. Thoughtful from beginning to end. We will DEFINITELY be going back!?Thank you so much, Billy Bunch!!!“
“I tried two of the three vegetarian options. The Rabe TJ was excellent. The Greens Shallot was a tad bland. Will try the grilled cheese on my next visit. It’s just a walk-up window on the street, so plan on eating at the park down the street or taking it home.Vegetarian options: Three vegetarian sandwich options“
“This is an old school sub shop with the matriarch (I’m assuming) of the family front and center on the 1’s & 2’s. I walked in around noon on a Saturday, and there were about 6 firemen waiting on food, as well as a long line of waiting customers that was at the entry door. That to me is a SURE sign the food is fire. I got a steak and cheese bomb, bread toasted. It was stacked with steak, end to end. Omggg it looked as if I’d ordered xtra meat(which normally I do cuz it’s more bread than anything). It was so damn GOOD! I’m embarrassed that I haven’t come here sooner, they’ve been around since the 1970’s maybe?!? It’s a real old school family feel place. Love love loveParking: You just gotta drive around and look for pahking Boston style. Iykyk“
“SHIRLEY has been a bright light in my life since it opened a few doors down from me. Kat is a one woman show and cares deeply about where food comes from & her customers!! Her menu is based on fruits and veg that are in season, and rotates frequently. Whenever I come in to pick up an order, she always takes the time to point out new vegan items on the menu, tell me about her plans, and even chat for a few minutes, all while she's prepping orders. The bread is famous for a reason. It's versatile and so comforting! SHIRLEY is adventurous and delicious and is a great place to go for veg folks bringing along non - veg friends. happycow only allows 5 stars for full vegan/veg restaurants, so don't let the 4 stars fool you. And don't forget the pickles and your fun drink! Vegan Faves: - Tofu Banh Mi (my favorite sandwich) - Sweet potato black bean torta - Eggplant sesame sandwich - PICKLES!!! my fave pickles - in the spring there was this asparagus sandwich… yum - Chocolate chip cookies!!! - Tomato soup - Almost all (if not all) drinks are made w oat milk - Chocolate hazelnut spread Updated from previous review on 2024-02-15“
“The ultimate weekend destination, serving up an eclectic menu of brunch favorites with a creative twist. The pancakes are fluffy and come with a variety of unique toppings, while the avocado toast is elevated with the addition of poached eggs and spicy salsa. The lively atmosphere and friendly service make it a great spot to unwind with friends or family."“
“Great food in a friendly atmosphere. I've had breakfast and lunch here in the past, and it's always good. The pancakes are amazing and the prices are definitely reasonable. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood.“
“No soup/sandwich shop compares in terms of price per quality, portion size, and different options in the area. I only started ordering from here about 2 weeks ago and I’ve now had 7 different kinds of soups and 4 different kinds of sandwiches - after the first order I started ordering two soups and a sandwich aka a soup to save for later because they’re just that good, every one of them. Price is so very reasonable and depending on which combo you get you can make out with a full sized sandwich and large sized homemade soup for ~$14.While it’s hard to recommend one thing over another in this circumstance since it’s all been great in their own ways, the Chicken Chowder is something I plan on getting a quart of next time it’s available. The Chicken Barley and Chicken Lemon Rice are ones I plan on getting quarts of in the future as well, and that’s not to discount the Chicken Noodle, Beef and Veg Noodle Stew, French Onion, and the current seasonal Chilled Gazpacha (which I probably wouldn’t have even tried it wasn’t from these guys). It’s all top quality. The Chicken Tarragon sandwich is my favorite in terms of sandwiches although it can’t combo with a soup as of now (please let us!). The best cheap soup combo sandwich is a tossup between the Cilantro Tuna and Ciabatta Sandwich, which are both incredible in their own ways. The only few drawbacks to this place are they don’t have every soup they make every day, are only open until 4PM, and aren’t open on the weekends. That said it’s worth it to plan accordingly for this. I never review anything but this place is worth it - it’s the best if you’re a soup and sandwich person like I am.“
“Absolutely awesome pizza and the salad was great! The people at the counter and table were nice.Just go and get a pizza well worth dealing with Everett traffic.Parking: Parking in the lot across the street is easy and faster than trying to find a spot elsewhere.“
“Bedford House of Roast Beef is an absolute 11/10, they saved me for real. Went all the way to North Andover for Bella’s and drove home only to find out they forgot to give me the actual sandwich! Ordered here on a whim, not expecting anything crazy, and was delivered one of the best beef three ways I’ve had, cannot recommend these guys enough!“
“Stopped by here to grab some sandwiches to go for my son and myself on a busy, activity packed Saturday. We got an Italian and a Roast Beef and Turkey on heroes. Very generous portions, packed with fresh crispy lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Nice pickles and hot peppers too, upon request.Very satisfying sandwich. There were 3 families seated enjoying sandwiches and the sandwiches all looked delicious. The pastrami also smelled delicious. I have to go back there to try it next time. :)“
“Clean dive bar with a creative menu and board games. If the food names don’t make you laugh like the “mancakes” meat infused pancakes, playing board games sure will! This is a great place for a kid-friendly brunch. The menu is mounted on the walls. Place your order at the kitchen window and choose a game.I got the mushrooms and spinach omelette with home fries and rye toast. We grabbed coffee from Fuel next door. Perfect family style brunch option!Kid-friendliness: They have board games and a straightforward food menu“
“10 for the food! I always get the Rachel (corned beef, Russian dressing, coleslaw, swiss). Meat is tender. Portions are small, though, for a sandwich that’s nearly $25. Over $30, with taxes, for a sandwich and drink.I go here because it’s my favorite place in the Boston area. But only once in a while because of the prices.“
“There was a version of the Lake that had a much different flavor 30 years ago. It was an Italian enclave, with a history that is very much different than the rest of Newton. Nonantum, or "The Lake," was the village with the oldest synagogue. It was right down the street from a Catholic church that, in my opinion, has an interior that has made me cry over the sheer artistic splendor of it.Tradition still plays a large part in this changing neighborhood, and it is finely displayed in this small sub shop on Watertown St. Like the old days, food prices were lower and food portions were a bit larger, and Guiseppe's does not try and overwhelm the customer with grandiose decor or expensive decorations, they are here to make you a sandwich or a salad. My honest recommendation is to go to Guiseppe's, and learn a little about the duality of this wonderful neighborhood. Sample the simpler part of the Lake and remember to leave a nice cash tip, because you're getting a lot of value out of the hard work of the owners!“
“I miss the days when these banh mis used to be $3. This was a go-to lunch spot for me when I worked in the area many years ago. Prices have gone up in general everywhere, so I can’t fault the place for that. The banh mis were very good from what I remember, but they weren’t the best that I’ve had. However, it is in an accessible area despite having no seating, and it is still a relatively cheap, filling meal.“
“I had the chicken parm with a side of rosemary and oil chips and wild berries soda. The chips and soda were the standout part of this meal. The chicken parm was okay, but lacked flavor. The ciabatta bread it was served on was soft and warm, which was great. The chicken, however, didn't taste like much. This place is small inside, though I did eat at the barstools they have facing the outside. You definitely couldn't bring a large group here, but it works for a small group or as takeout.“
“Morad and his team are the best in the business. Always friendly. Always fresh food. Always accurately prepared as ordered. Always on time. Always consistent hands down. Have been a regular customer for years and it is because I know what to expect. Thank you !Parking: Plenty of parking“
“Honestly, you can barely eat the entire sandwich. They put more meat in a sandwich than I have ever seen in my life. You can't even close the sandwich. The sandwich will last you for three days. It's fresh and delicious. The bread is amazing. I literally cannot say enough and I am someone that tries food all the time.“
“As always our meal at Dovetail was spot on. I had the snapper and my wife the scallops. Bother dishes were thoughtfully prepared, attractive and very tasty. We've been fans for years and have never been disappointed in our meals at Dovetail or their sister restaurant, Brewers Fork.“
“Would have liked to give this place a 5 but the state of the kitchen was a little anxiety inducing to anyone observant enough to peek inside. Prep was not done and although we were the only people who ordered, our sandwiches took about 10minutes to assemble. We ordered the lamb sando and the porchetta. The lamb left something to be desired but the porchetta was delightful. Delicious sandwich.“
“TL:DR - If this was a TV show, it’s the first season of “The Bear” but a Jewish deli rather than Italian Beef joint.Just a classic, justifiably awesome place. Better than Zaftig’s or Mamelahs because it has the soul they are both missing.Michael’s Deli has it all going for it - homey, quirky, friendly with a side of good-natured snark (NOT of the rude Durgin Park variety.)Slightly intimidated by the menu I stuck to the tried and true and got a Ruben which was delicious with tons of well cooked meat, a big super crunchy half-sour pickle and added a small side of potato salad doe maybe buck-fifty. Grabbed one of the several 4-tops inside and enjoyed the classic rock and banter of the kitchen staff while I waited for and ate my foodWheelchair accessibility: Level access“
“Best damn sandwich shop in the North End. If your hungry ask Felix what you should order, you may end up with a double cheeseburger salad that will blow you away or some other culinary invention he crafts on the spot! If your looking for an authentic deli experience or you just want a really good sandwich fast. This is the place for you! Gluten free option available, accessibility is a little tight but this amazing staff would help make sure you are treated well. If you have the chance to meet Paul, do it, he’s a great friendly guy and he’s worked hard to make a great spot to eat!“
“Pickup for breakfast sandwiches - they’re HUGE! My partner got bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel and I got the same but on an English muffin. Sandwiches were good - could use more bacon for such a big portion of egg. Cute lil place!“
“Good afternoon, I had called the place an order for a chicken Parm sub and two cookies, and it was close to closing. I truly apologize for not getting there in time and happy you make the food. My wife’s tire popped on route 9 and she called me to change it. Please forgive me for not getting there in time. I am still going to pay for the food. Once again, I truly apologize.“
“A family owned sandwich shop where the food is delicious, fresh and made with love. A wide variety to choose from and also has Richardson’s ice cream. Wonderful customer service. Definitely worth a try. The paninis are especially delicious. You’ll end up being a regular. Very reasonable prices.“
“This is what other Subways hope to be! The location was clean, organized, and showroom ready! The staff was fantastic! Making my food exactly the way I like it, I've had other Subways that have left me wanting more. The only thing this Subway has left me wanting is one like this near my home! Excellent work to everyone who made this location as great as it is!!!“
“I love this place so much. My boyfriend introduced me to this place and I can't help but to come back for more. The bahn mi sandwhiches are AMAZING and I always get either the cold cut or the bbq pork. The service is amazing and very quick. The ambiance of the store is little and dainty, but they get the job done. I love this place with all my heart.“
“Stayed at an Airbnb around the corner for a week and found ourselves going here every day. Great coffee, fresh OJ and sandwiches that are out of this world. When I heard melted cheese on bacon my brain said that’s too much but I just kept going back! Also reasonable price and right sized portion for breakfast - would have been easy to overdo on both front.“
“To be perfectly honest, the sandwich I eat there regularly is the best sandwich I have EVER eaten in my life. The crunch sensation created from the baguette, pickles, and lettuce makes for one of the best food experiences in my entire life...The food is great, the service is great, the place looks good enough, and that CRUNCH!!!!!!!!! Literally would rather have one of those crunches over going to disney world.“
“This place seems like it will become a new classic for me. The food is delicious and I love that it is a local small business. It does take a little longer to cook then a place like dunkin but that is because the food you are eating is real and is cooked when you order!“
“Al's......THANK YOU!!!!!! I walked over today from my work, and I was hoping and praying the chicken salad recipe had not changed in the last 15 years. Al's chicken salad was my absolute favorite sub of all time, and I would always get it when I was working as a deckhand for Boston Harbor Cruises. I am SO thrilled to say, it is as delicious as I remembered!!! I love that they don't put celery/raw onions into the mix. It is perfect as it comes, and I had lettuce and tomato onto my roll. The bread is fresh, and the regular/small size is huge! Thank you to all of you for your consistency in flavor, ability to manage a crowd (although I fortunately got right in today, arriving on the earlier side), and your team's welcoming attitudes. Al's still is and always with be the GOAT!!“
“Best italian sub around. It's all about the portions and they do it best. Service is exceptional. They're asking you what you want before you even know! Whether you go to Winchester or Arlington the service, and the food, will want you to come back for more. My dad ate here forty years ago and I will continue to do so!“
“Excellent breakfast and lunch fare with friendly and efficient service. I had a veggie egg white omelet, which was delicious. I couldn't resist the huge chocolate chip cookie. Huge portions allowed for leftovers. This establishment serves mostly takeout due to the small seating area. The inside is clean and welcoming.“
“The Serranito sandwich is the best deli sandwich I’ve ever had. We were in Boston for 3 days with a full food itinerary, stopped in here on day one and had to come back a second time before we left. The sandwiches are big, easy to split between two people. Freshly sliced ham, incredible cheese, crispy toasted bread, garlic aioli…this is our favorite place we ate in Boston. A must eat!!!“
“The two timer is the best sandwich in the city! Only ingredients of the highest quality are used at this establishment. Staff has the best energy and always plays fire music to listen to while in line.Even long after I've left boston, I will never forget this sandwich. Smoked Gouda Mac n Cheese also is great.“
“Best steak & cheese in Boston period. They also have the best breakfast I love their there family owned and operated fasted friendly service. Excellent good you will have leftovers. I like that they have options for picky eaters (kids) well worth the money you spend an please tip them especially during the pandemic ? everything is always amazingly delicious ? only had a issue one time when they forgot to put my cheesy grits in the bag and gave me bean pie instead of bread pudding I called and they immediately made it right. I still wish they delivered because I would definitely eat there more often.Kid-friendliness: In my opinion yes. They don't put up with the rift raft that goes on in the area & I usually just ask them to make whatever my child wants if they have it they'll do it.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs easy access“
“I highly recommend this place! The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and there are plenty of vegetarian options available. There is also some street parking available. They have really good doughnuts and SandwichesPrice ?Quality ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
“Amazing steak subs!! I’m sure the other menu offerings are just as good, but I can’t bring myself to order anything else because the steak is just too good. The guy at the front is really charming and efficient, It’s a very small walk in place , no indoor seating. Outdoor seating seasonally. Go there!!“
“Went here for catering and could not have had a better experience! First, Mara’s husband recommended I get less than what I was planning on for our numbers rather than trying to upsell me. When I picked up the food it was ready early and the customer service was standout. They even had an employee carry it all to my car for me. The food was fantastic! A honest, and dedicated family run place!“
“I’m working at a new place and know of no good sandwich shops near by. I called Giovanni’s and it was great! I think the owner delivered it himself as he was in an apron and sounded the same as he did when I placed the order. That and the fact he wouldn’t accept a tip. I WILL drive that tip to the shop!“
“Went to the Beyond King Tut Experience in Boston's South End. When we finished it was lunch-time and we planned to walk the 2 miles to the Faneuil Hall Marketplace for lunch. But it was over 90 degrees and my husband had a serious case of the "hangry's". Not being familiar with this area I looked up cheap eats and found The Bostonian Market And Cafe was only a 3-min walk from the venue. You'd miss it for sure walking by, it's on the corner of Harrison and Fay and looks like it might be a small convenience store. Went in, it's very small, not fancy, a few tables to sit at. Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with an amazingly wide range of sandwiches, salads, burgers, dinner specials. The prices were amazing for Boston. We had a fabulous, fresh Greek salad with chicken, the French Quarter sandwich, fries and 2 drinks. Everything was fantastic, large portions and the total cost was $25.50 - thought they made a mistake and that was for one meal. But no, the total bill. The 2 gentlemen who did everything could not have been more welcoming or accommodating - and fast. And it was clearly the favorite of the neighborhood. Next time we are in Boston we will plan to eat here! We did do the 5-mile round trip walk to Faneuil Hall Marketplace for ice cream and back through the Boston Public Gardens so don't miss these. But if you are in South Boston or the the South End, this is the place to get a fantastic meal and not break the pocketbook.“
“Best breakfast place in all of Massachusetts I'd say. So many different varieties of sandwhiches and subs I haven't tried any so far that I've disliked. My favorite menu items are the bacon bboy and the clogger. The sauce that comes with these sandwiches the jacobs river is actually fuckin fire I could prolly drink that shit . Definitely recommend. Workers are dawgs nice people. No complaints. Bussin“
“SO HAPPY to find a place with amazing options for both vegans AND non-vegans! Both my boyfriend and I ordered “chicken” sandwiches. His was real chicken, and mine was plant-based, but BOTH were delicious! He ordered the poblano chicken sandwich and I got the kimchi chicken sandwich. The kimchi was amazing. The fries were also amazing! Perfect crispiness. (we would not recommend the chipotle vegan sauce … weird texture).“
“The 2 dudes behind the counter were working so freaking hard to get orders out. I felt so bad, made me want to apron up and help! They had a good number of tickets, people walking in, and the other customers were getting annoyed, maybe not verbally, but the symphony of sighs spoke volumes. Get them more help, cause they definitely needed atleast one more person. I'm a General Manager and it was lowkey upsetting to watch them get wrecked like that.Foods always amazing!!! I don't mind waiting for a sandwich!!! Best of luck 2 dudes working hard!!“
“The food was amazing, generous portions, a very large variety and very affordable. I highly recommend their breakfast. The French toast was the best I’ve ever had. The bagels were also very good. We ate here 3 times in four days, the staff made us feel like family. I would certainly be a regular if I lived in Boston.“
“Fridays at weston provisions has been an enjoyable weekly ritual for me the past 4-5 months. My go to used to be the hot fried chicken sandwich. Past 2 months the changes to the sandwich have not been ideal unfortunately. What was once a thick crispy delicious piece of chicken has regressed to a thin slice drenched in sauce making the bun soggy before even your first bite.Overall the place is great with many great options but the devolution of my favorite sandwich in Weston has been disappointing.“
“We were hangry for sure -- so understand that anything would have been tasty at this point. But this simple pastrami and cheese sandwich felt like something my dad would prepare when I was a kid and hungry. Needless to say, I LOVED it.I would recommend this to literally anybody who loves the savory taste of pastrami.“
“Had to post a review to balance out the idiot who bashes a restaurant cause they watch Fox News. Literally everything thats wrong with the world today. Can't even have a different political view. So you'll bash their restaurant which has nothing to do with quality of their food. Nobody can meet in the center anymore not even over food which isnt political.“
“I've been a regular customer here for a few months now. In that time, I've probably tried seven or eight different paninis, wraps, and chicken and rice dishes. Everything has been excellent - fresh, quality ingredients, scratch cooking, perfect ingredient proportions, and an eclectic mixture of culinary influences, including Indian and Italian. The prices are very reasonable for the excellent quality and generous quantity of the dishes. The service is great, as well - the owner, Sam, is very warm and friendly. As other reviewers have mentioned, ordering online is definitely recommended - the establishment is small, and there isn't much room to wait. My online orders have always been ready in 10-15 minutes.I really can't recommend TruFoods Kitchen highly enough. I've taken multiple friends here (to universally glowing reviews) and I will continue frequenting it myself. Give it a try!“
