Almost left the Rockville area without visiting Gwenie's but I had a sudden craving for halo halo on an unseasonably warm day. It's a short walk from Twinbrook Metro and well worth the visit! The store is very small with no seating but there's a bench outside where I ate my halo halo. Most people drive in to pick up their baked goods.The halo halo was larger than I expected. A little pricey but worth the money and drive. Donuts are filled well and the dough is really good quality. Customer service was friendly and shop was clean. Will definitely be back!

Great selection of Filipino baked goods, and an Ube and Pandan-lover’s dream.The donut was fresh, with a nice crust. The cream was smooth and light, though the pandan flavour was quite subtle.I loved the Baked Siaopao, a slightly flaky bread filled with pulled pork and egg.I bought the Ube Pan de Sal as well, and am so excited to try it!
