We started off with some cocktails and appetizers. The bang bang broccoli was a hit! The sushi was ok and everyone enjoyed Thier cocktails, despite the excessive amount of ice. “My wife and I stopped in, while shopping, for a bite to eat. The restaurant was almost unoccupied, we were seated promptly by a polite server. The environment was quiet, and a little cool for me. I ordered a cup of hot tea which appeared quickly and was warming. I ordered the Tempura Shrimp Bento box. I was surprised at how much it provided to eat: A small bowl of miso soup, two sizable Tempura Shrimp, slices of Tempura fried sweet potato, onion ring, and two other sliced tempura root vegetables I did not recognize, two Shumai dumplings, four pieces of sushi, a salad with carrot/ginger dressing, a serving of steamed white rice. Everything was good, but for my palate, too many Tempura root vegetable slices. (Interestingly, the miso soup was sbrought to the table in an ice cold bowl; this rapidly cooled down the miso soup.) My wife ordered the Habachi steak lunch combination, she says the steak was a little tough and cooked more than she requested. Her lunch included a salad with carrot/giner dressing. Two spicy salmon sushi items were also included. This combination included a substantial serving of good, tasty fried rice. ( I shared one of my Tempura shrimp with my wife: She says it was good.) We both decided we shall return, but next visit we will investigate other choices on the menu.“

They have an vast understanding of the meals they are preparing for you, and they only use premium cuts. Literally the meat melts in your mouth, it was sooooo good. I will definitely visit them again on my next trip out. I stayed at this hotel for over 2 weeks, and this was the only restaurant I went to eat at more than once. They made me feel like I was family, they new what I wanted when I walked in, and they remembered our previous conversations from nights prior and were very engaging. This was one of the best meals I've had in a while. My friend and I had been dying to try their plant-based sushi and not only did it blow us away but the other dishes we tried were equally as incredible. Here's what we got for two people. We were quite full and took some leftovers: - ahi watermelon nigiri (2 pieces) x 2: If you didnt know this was made of watermelon you could absolutely mistake it for the real thing. The texture is mind blowing and the flavor is on point. Amazing way to start the meal (and end it because we ended up ordering another round to finish our meal) - unagi eggplant nigiri (2 pieces) x 2: So delicious. Definitely must order. The eggplant is super tender, just like eel. - spicy tuna roll: we ordered the hand roll but I think the server misheard so we ended up with the maki but it wasn't a big deal and i wasn't upset to get to try their take on maki rolls. I think their rice could use some work but this was still tasty! - Dan Dan noodles: incredible. Our server advised us to get the Dan Dan noodles over the Singapore noodles entirely because of the saucy-ness of this dish and he did not steer us wrong. These noodles are drowning in sauce (in the best way) Even though it's a peanut sauce it was perfectly balanced and creamy. The noodles themselves had a great chew and the use of kamut (a grain) in the dish as a substitute for the traditional ground pork was inspired. - bang bang broccoli: broccoli has never tasted this good. I mean it, not only is the broccoli is shockingly crispy while being perfectly cooked through the center, but the broccoli itself tasted so creamy and delicious unlike any broccoli I have had before. And the bang bang sauce is bangin too. All this being said, if you are trying to be choosy and try the most unique dishes, I would probably skip this dish in favor of more sushi. Overall, this was an incredible, unique, and innovative meal and I can't wait to go back to try more of the menu. This is how vegetables could and should taste, if only we put as much love into them as we do with meat. At least the chefs at Planta are listening.“

DONBURI: TUNA, YELLOWTAIL AND SALMON (9 PC) - 36.50 Not a cheap price and definitely more of a splurge for a regular weekday dinner. This came with a side of miso soup which was pretty standard. The donburi bowl was well presented, with each piece of fish spreading neatly across the bowl in a pinwheel shaped, topped with some garnish, lemons, ginger and wasabi. Each piece of sashimi was pretty thick and they give you a good amount of sushi rice that's been topped with some nori and small slivers of ginger. The sashimi quality was fantastic. I enjoyed the yellowtail a lot. The salmon and tuna were good, too! Overall, this was filling and tasty. I would recommend it if you are down to splurge. A couple of my friends got the beef sukiyaki which looked really good. I may have to try that next time!“

“Our visit to Zeppelin was absolutely breathtaking! From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with the most exceptional hospitality by Ari and the rest of the staff. The atmosphere of the restaurant is truly one-of-a-kind, paying tribute to the Golden Age of the Great Passenger Airships. But the real standout of our experience was the food. It was absolutely divine. We began our meal with the Edamame and Miso Soup, both of which were the perfect starters and set the stage for the rest of the meal. The Seaweed Salad and Cucumber Sunomono were also refreshing and bursting with flavor. For our main course, we decided to indulge in a variety of dishes from the KushiYaki (Japanese Charcoal Grill) menu. The Ebi Shumai and Beef Harumaki were both cooked to perfection, while the Takoyaki was a fun and tasty snack. But the standout dish was the Okonomiyaki, with its tempura, red ginger, okonomiyaki sauce, and mayo creating a truly unique and flavor-packed experience. From the sushi bar, we sampled a variety of rolls including the Negitoro Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Rainbow Roll. Each one was expertly crafted and perfectly balanced in flavor. Instead I got a whole interesting assortment, including octupus, what I think was abalone, and lots more. Not to mention that the salmon was terrific! Also, when we did get seated, we were offered a place that had food on the table and chairs… i had to wipe off the chair myself with my hand. Everything else was great!“

I remembered I thought the sushi was really good here but once I graduated and didn’t have a car, I haven’t been back in a while. Recently, when I had sushi cravings I remembered this spot and mentioned it to my husband so we came to check it out again. I am kicking myself for not coming back sooner! I love getting chirashis and not only do they give a generous amount of fish in their chirashi, they are all extremely high quality and fresh fish—all at very reasonable price too! I also got the clam miso soup which was very tasty and the clams are shell-on so it’s extra flavorful. Staff is super attentive and friendly too, and the place is small but cozy! I do wonder if on busy nights there’ll be long waits. I will definitely be back often!!“

The Ikura was eaten too fast so no pic but the portion size appeared modest while the thick cut slices of the salmon sashimi is generously cut.The yellowtail jalapeño appetizer is a nice portion for the price but the sauce is too spicy for me but diluting it with soy sauce helps.The folks working here are kind and professional. “Isshin has one of the BEST service in Adams Morgan. May is the woman who always helps me. I think she’s the manager. She keeps that place running swiftly and smoothly. During the pandemic, Isshin made every effort to keep their place sanitized and customers safe by using PPE and placing hand sanitizers all around. The staff works super fast to get meals ready for you. They always go above and beyond to offer excellent service. I had to order spicy shrimp rice and I was going to arrive close to closing time, May kept Isshin open until I arrived (5 mins late) to pick up my food. I only live 3 blocks away but once I was not able to pick up my food from Isshin. May immediately said, “if you live close, I’ll deliver for you.” And she did just that and as usual with a very pleasant demeanor and genuine smile. May and her team at Isshin make this restaurant one of the best in Adams Morgan. Thank you May and Isshin!!!“
