I have been coming to Damon's since I was in high school and it was always on the way home from our longer games (and our bus driver liked it). As a kid, I did not appreciate this place- I think because all fast food was cheap back then in the late 90s. Since I've moved to central Maine and realized subway is more expensive than Damon's and a tenth as good as Damon's, I've turned around. Damon's is a landmark for generations living in the Augusta area. They have quite a variety of food, but I recommend ordering a ham Italian with all the standard veggies and saying yes when they ask if you want oil. Also, yes to salt and pepper. That's a classic sandwich in this area, and it's on my must-have list when I get to Maine.

Overall the meatball sub was ok. Plenty of meatballs and just the right amount of sauce vs. cheese. But if you are going to charge $1.09 for onions and another $1.09 for green pepper then I expect to see more of both on my sandwich. Definitely not worth the upcharge for such a small portion of both veggies. I have eaten here before and the service is always great, but the sandwiches are just average or a touch above.
