I never went in but noticed it over the 35 years I've lived two blocks away. It always looked respectable, speaking as a former National Guard cook. I just visit to say that we overdid the COVID a bit, a lot of people are thinking. But a hardened capitalist might reply, markets need a good stiff shaking from time to time. But I guess there's no such thing as a hardened capitalist. Portland probably can't appreciate good cooking at the moment.

This restaurant is the best restuarant in Portland, Maine. Whenever I wanted to eat dinner for celebration, I always chose to eat at this restaurant. They served good food and the service was amazing. Due to covid-19, they went from ala carte options to Prix Fixe menu which is a let down and had not been back since. We prefered to eat the ala carte as we wanted the menu we wanted that not in the Prix Fixe menu. Hopefully, they went back to ala carte menu for us to go back there.

I have been a long time patron of BBG and am so happy to see some aesthetic updates with the same excellent quality of food and drinks! The service, as always, was fantastic as well. It is highly recommended to call ahead for a reservation, especially for a weekend night.

Everything was absolutely stellar. We have been meaning to get here for several years, and I can't believe we waited so long. We appreciated the perfect ambiance and music selection, the professional, pleasant staff, and the excellent food. All of the food was excellent. Just really, really good food. We'll be back.

A quality special occasion choice. Good range of options on the prix fixe menu. Fine service. Excellent wine selection. Apps we're outstanding, but entrées a little less so. My wife's steak was a bit dry, my duck dish rather salty. Prices were probably a bit high for Portland Maine, considering I've had better for less, but I understand the times.

My husband and I went here while on our honeymoon and we were absolutely blown away. The food is incredible and the service is equally as amazing. The fixed price menu has something for everyone and it truly is worth every penny. We cannot wait to visit Portland and Back Bay Grill again!

The three-course menu was fantastic. Service was impeccable. The only downside is that it is in a really baaadddd part of the city. I would highly recommend taking an Uber as we walked from our hotel to the restaurant and I was afraid we would get mugged (or worse).

Had dinner here for our anniversary last night. Enjoyed the foie gras and the short rib. The short rib is a nice size portion. The wine by the glass selection is good and reasonable. My main course was the filet mug on which was perfect, My husband had the lamb. Dessert was a solid creme brûlée. Service was very good- prix fixe made it quite reasonable.
Our night there was nothing short of perfection. Every single bit of food was delicious, well seasoned and well prepared. I can't say enough about the staff. They work as a very tight knit team. No detail is left unattended. They genuinely care about their restaurant and the happiness of all of their guests. Their timing on everything from service to clearing to handing us our bag of leftovers was flawless. Even the restrooms had every little detail accounted for. This restaurant is clearly run and executed by a team that cares and it shows in every aspect. This is a spot you have to check out in portland. Thank you again to everyone there!

The dinner I had last night was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. My favorite part was the entree's. I had the filet mignon and my boyfriend ate the lamb, I honestly don’t know which one I liked more. The lamb was cooked so beautifully, and everything on the dish paired together in the best way possible. My filet was perfection and it had the creamiest (goat?) cheese on top of it… never would I thought how wonderful cheese and steak could be. The staff was delightful, attentive, and not too overbearing. 10/10 I recommend getting in here before they change chefs so you can go back and compare. That’s my plan anyways! Thank you so much for a lovely dinner ✨

Exceptional food and service. True team effort taking care of your dining experience. The local Maine Halibut was one of the best I have ever been served. Warm butter lobster starter was very good. Music and decor very nice. Suggest a table by the bar to view the kitchen for more activity and a view of the street scene. If you like old interior finishing, take the time to study the metal ceiling that was custom made foe the room long ago.

Our experience here was phenomenal. Wonderful service, got seated right away without a reservation, and then had one of the best meals of my life. Other restaurants of this caliber do not have the portion sizes this place has. The lamb rack melted in my mouth the amount of flavor was explosive. Lobster risotto was exquisite, and the creme brûlée was the perfect finish to this entire experience. If you are in a Portland, you have to check this place out.
