“My husband and I went out on a date night out of CT and had the opportunity to try out this gelato shop! Everyone there was very kind and friendly. It's a small shop but you can tell the gelato is fresh and made with the best ingredients! Everytime we go to Portland now we look forward to coming back here!“
“Recommended: Highly, for oyster enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Overall: An outstanding destination for top-quality oysters and a delightful dining experience. Snapshot: Food: 5/5 Drink: 4/5 Vibe: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Family-Friendly: NA Highlights: Perfect For: Enjoying a wide variety of fresh, high-quality oysters Don't Miss: The rotating selection of oysters, offering fresh and delicious options Bonus Tip: Check out their small but well-curated drink selection, including Austin Street brews All The Details: My love for oysters began at The Shop in Portland, Maine, four years ago, and it has been a benchmark experience since. Now, it's a compulsory stop for my husband and me whenever we're in Portland. The staff is efficient, warm, and knowledgeable, ensuring the line moves quickly and that each visitor feels welcomed and assisted in their oyster selection. The menu constantly rotates, but the freshness and delectable quality of the oysters are consistent. When it comes to value, The Shop is unparalleled. It excels in providing perfectly shucked oysters at an incredible price point all the time (not just certain times like other places). The ambiance adds to the experience - a fresh market counter, charming seating, and a lovely patio. Though their drink selection is limited, they make impeccable choices, often featuring Austin Street brews. Their merchandise is also noteworthy. My husband frequently wears their oyster crewneck, a testament to our fondness for this place. While The Shop might not be a hidden gem, as it's well-known to many, it always feels like a delightful discovery to those new to it. We eagerly anticipate our next visit.“
“This is the cutest cafe ever! Pastels and playful decor don this Deering Center space. I enjoyed a refreshing lychee iced green tea with boba. You'll have to check it out the next time you find yourself on Stevens Avenue.Kid-friendliness: Kids will love the inviting space.“
“Great coffee and service. Love the mission and impact this coffee shop has on live in Rwanda - it's mentioned on their website and that's what drew me to visit. Barista was super helpful giving suggestions about local spots to check out while I visit Portland!“
“Beautiful and busy... just the way it should be!I thought that the line was surprisingly quick in its progression. Usually when I walk into a place and see half a dozen children pointing to a menu above their heads while surrendering to their overwhelming ADD... I turn around and come back later. In this case, I hardly made up my mind before the Coastal Creamery staff worked through each child's order. The smell of fresh baked cookies was hard to walk away from as well.My only knock on this ice cream shop is that for my personal preference the ice cream's texture was a little to "icey" and not enough "creamy". But the flavors were prevalent throughout and I think if you're looking for a good ice cream pitstop while on Commercial Street in Portland, your search needs to begin and end with Coastal Creamery!!“
“I come here for lunch often during the summer months after teaching tennis lessons all morning. The staff is friendly. They know I’ve been running around on that grind and they make me massive and tasty sandwiches.I’m thankful for the people here.“
“Fun and extensive vegan ice cream menu. The ice cream itself could've been better, they have several creative flavors but they all kind of taste the same (I suspect it's the flavor of dates which I'm guessing is used to sweeten some of them, but it just gives all the flavors a similar sharp cloying, slightly salty taste), and the texture isn't very creamy. If you do go I'd recommend just getting the ice cream and not any toppings because the toppings push it into too sweet territory and detract from the flavors.“
“This ice cream is unreal and one of the best I’ve had. I tried the fennel and lemon flavor and it was incredibly complex (fine dining level). The balance between sweet and salty was so point and addicting. I really couldn’t stop eating! I really wish Dear Dairy supplies in Boston, so I can try their other creative flavors.“
“Lib’s is a longtime favorite and it’s easy to see why! There are hard and soft serve ice cream options, and also special treats. I’d recommend getting an Arctic Blast. They do prefer you pay in cash, but card or Venmo is also accepted. I’d check at the counter.“
“We try a lot, and I mean A LOT, of ice cream and this place overdelivered. Great flavors, excellent texture (thick and creamy!), and very friendly staff, will become a regular stop when we’re in the area. Butterscotch Miso is *chefs kiss* and very much enjoyed the Salty Peanut Butter, well done!“
“They only had one lady working so it took quite a long while to get the ice cream and because she was alone she didn’t have time to update the available flavors. The ice cream tastes good but the spoons are very bendy and I can’t lift my ice cream out of the cup.Hi replying to the reply; I went to beals on veranda st. There was only one girl working and she even apologized as she was the only one who was working. She was nice but definitely the only person working around 5:30 when I went.“
“I tried many ice cream shops in this town but the best scoop goes to this shop with Maine blueberry cobbler. The other flavors I tried were not as good as this single flavor so if you go, just get the cobbler, it's delicious. Across the street there is another fabulous place which has real Italian gelato which actually have decided is higher quality since all of their flavors are superb, but this blueberry cobbler one took my heart as the top contender flavor in Portland.“
