Born/bred in New Orleans. Favorite poboys when I eat them 1. Soft shell crab in season. 2. Roast beef. While Poboys and Pickles advertises they use Leidenheimer bread (NO bread maker 100+ years), because it has to be shipped, you do not get the real product but it is not bad. I would have preferred the sandwich was just a tad bit more flashed in a hot oven. The meat is well cooked and is a very hearty portion for $13.00. The homemade pickles are very good as reviews state. I would prefer ½ size sandwiches as I could only eat a half while there and took the rest home. I like more lettuce and tomato (only one slice per half). But what I was most disappointed about was the lack of wonderful gravy that you get in New Orleans and makes it a bit messy. I ate my half using only 2 small brown napkins. In New Orleans, that would have been woefully inadequate. All in all, not bad at all. I enjoyed the New Orleans pictures on the wall, local bumper stickers, Harry Connick singing overhead and Barq’s root beer at the fountain dispenser. The guy at the counter was nice and service was fast.Roxane D.

Portland, Maine’s Best sandwich/wrap shop of 2023 Po' Boys & Pickles is the real deal! The authentic Creole New Orleans' flavors are on point. Counter service was fast and friendly. The Blackened fish sandwich($15) is not to be missed! The sandwich is dressed with Cajun Cole slaw, sliced tomato and red pepper mayo. This is a huge sandwich, easily shareable and absolutely delicious!! The bread is from Leidenheimer Bakery, New Orleans. Founded in 1896, Leidenheimer's is the last of the old-school Po' boy bakeries. Po' Boys & Pickles has made the commitment to using the best bread and most authentic ingredients in all of their Po' boys and sandwiches. Truly an homage to New Orleans!! You can taste the goodness in every bite. The perfect accompaniment was a basket of sweet potato fries($6).The fries were perfectly crisp, not greasy, plentiful and delicious. Great quality, inexpensive dining experience!! I love this place and you will too! Highly recommend.

We just missed Fat Tuesday and I was thinking of a Po'Boy sandwich. This place offers authentic New Orleans Cajun food. The staff are always very friendly to both new and regular customers. The food is always on point. The blackened fish po' boy is a full sandwich which is big enough to share. It has Cajun coleslaw which adds a crunchy and flavorful component to the sandwich and comes with tomato and red pepper mayo as well. We ordered sweet potato fries which were so good. They came out hot and delicious. The manager mentioned that they have the traditional bread for Po'boys in New Orleans shipped to them from Leidenheimer Bakery which is why their sandwiches come out crispy, flaky and soooo good. This is a French bread made with less water which creates a flaky crust that is not too chewy. It doesn't matter which item you choose here. It is always delicious.

Ordered the cauli po' boy for takeout. When I went to pick it up the restaurant looked very inviting and had some seating. Service was friendly and prompt. Po' boy was delicious! The cauliflower was fried to perfection in a flavorful, salty batter, the cucumbers added some nice crunch and freshness, and the pickled onions and garlic mayo were tasty too. A great vegetarian-friendly option!
